Flew fron London to San Francisco, then rented A Harley Davidson. Drove the PCH to LA and flew back to London. Spent 10 days in total. A life changing experience !!! Jimmy from Ireland

This family is doing it right. Taking children to parts near and far is the best gift parents can buy. More valuable than more toys that end up on the garage floor then to a donation bin.

I’d also recommend doing the portion of hwy 1 north of San Francisco to CA/OR border
You’re not the first person to suggest that stretch. We did it by accident in our most recent video but we’ll do it properly soon, hopefully!
Me and my girlfriend are planning the same trip 😍 start from San Francisco - San Diego - Phoenix and then up for the canyons to las vegas. There we take the airplane ✈️ for nyc after a few days then we take the plane again to return in switzerland😁

I'm a native Californian who has lived all his life on or no more than a few miles away from CA route 1. In my home town, it was called by the old Spanish name, El Camino Real. I loved taking this trip with you and your family!! You even stayed at my favorite Cambria get-away. nice. I see this video is a few years old, so i hope you bring your kids back for a repeat adventure. Maybe you could go south-to-north this time.

Thanks for the great message. We loved every second of this trip. We made a follow-up couple of years ago where we went to some of the alternative stops people could make. We also went up to Leggett and only found out it was the start of Highway 1 when we got there!! We made a mini video on that trip but we really want to do the whole stretch next: Leggett to San Diego!! Hopefully, you’ll be along for the ride!! 🚗😎👍
San Diego to San Francisco was one of my first ever road trips with just me and my friends my senior year of high school. As a teenager I thought it was the craziest thing, such a beautiful scenery as well but man oh man we where so ignorant to the fact how much driving was needed it was hilarious. We where just teenagers so stopping to spend the night at a hotel wasn’t in our budget lol. We got to San Francisco at 3am in the morning god it was so funny. But the trip is one I’ll never forget still my favorite to this day.
Ha ha ha. The best trips are when you don’t plan it properly!!! You might want to book a hotel when you do it next time!!! You should do a reunion Road Trip with your mates!!

Thank you for posting this. My wife and me were able to take this trip in 1972. Took hours of 8mm movies and view them from time to time. Wonderful adventure, it was. Spent a few days at Disneyland before going to San Diego. From there, we drove to Las Vegas for a few days before flying home.
That sounds amazing!! I bet it all looked so different back then!! Vegas has definitely grown since the 70s!! You’ll have to turn some of your 8mm into a TH-cam video!!!

Myself and a friend just did this trip, but we started in Long Beach through the coast up to San Diego then the coast back down to San Francisco beautiful CaLifornia coast line. it was the best road trip ever so so beautiful amazing. So much to see. We ended our trip in Napa Valley wine country. California knows how to party that's for sure. Recommend it to everyone if u never done the drive.

I did the opposite drive from San Diego to Eureka. The highlights were definitely Big Surr, Hearst Castle, Fisherman's wharf/Alcatraz, Pebble Beach, Red Wood National forest and thousands of great views. Fantastic video. You have a beautiful family my friend.

I live in Carlsbad, a wee bit north of San Diego and we vacation in Oregon every year.. we take our dogs and drive up, we've always taken the quicker(less interesting) inland route but after watching this I think it'd be totally worth it to shave a day off Oregon to do this drive. :-) Great video!

Fantastic video, well done! I'm a California native and I've driven every drivable inch of the coast from Astoria, Oregon to San Diego, CA. I wish you would have shown old HWY 101 from Carlsbad to Del Mar. It is the last stretch of "old" California beach town left. I prefer the Central Coast near Morro Bay but the weather along old HWY 101from Carlsbad to Del Mar is probably the best in the world and in the summer the water is the warmest on the California coast. Again, well done!

Great video! I'm from San Diego and have been to SF a couple of times, but never took the 101 (coastal highway). My husband always takes the I-5 N because it's faster (but not nearly as beautiful) than going through the 101. We usually go when there's a 4 or 5 day weekend, so, that's why the rush. I wish it wasn't so cloudy when you guys did it though, the water would be much more beautiful on a regular sunny day, but glad you guys enjoyed it, I'm sure it was still worth it!

I was working in Silicone Valley in October and November and used to drive to Half Moon Bay often on the weekend for breakfast. Really liked that little town

This is abso the best road trip of the PCH and with kids also.A convert the PCH south bound and the Beach Boys playing loud an strong .I've done this 2 northbound and 3 southbound and one southbound on a bike in october 12 daysfrom SF to Malibu.These folks had a really great trip. Every mile of this hiway is a spectacle. If planning to do this trip do your homework, and no rushing on the drive, stop often

Very Narrative...I am planning a trip LA-SF-LA in summer. I just wanted to know how did you manage record your trip so well.
Hi, I planned out what shots I'd need for each part of the trip and made sure that I either had GoPro from the car or DSLR shots to cover everything I needed. I filmed something every time we stopped. A lot didn't make it into the edit but it's better to have it than not. Also, you might find that if we didn't have a certain shot, we let the one before it continue or use a shot of us driving!! There is so much to see and film on the trip though! Good luck with yours!!!

I visited back in 2013. Hearst Castle requires quite a bit of paperwork to get in.
We didn't think it would be as busy as it was!! We wished we'd booked the tour online a few days before!!

I live in the bay and i drive down the 1 a lot but never all the way to san diego this seems like fun ^_^ i would start in pacifica or half moon bay just because the view of the coast is beautiful
That’s a great place to start but us tourists are still too excited about the Golden Gate Bridge!! We’ve tried to stop doing the I-5 as it’s a waste of the beautiful views!!

Totally awesome trip, we did half of this a few days ago, a MUST also that you passed up in big sur area, was Mcway waterfall, this is the only waterfall that I know of, I’m sure there are more, that falls directly into the ocean, we took awesome pictures there. It’s easy to get to , just a short hike. However, it can only be viewed from the trail , as it is a big fine to hike down to this beautiful spot, I believe there trying to preserve it , beautiful photo op tho 👍🏻

Wow, I can actually smell your video all the way in Florida. California and Florida. States in the past everyone wanted to live in. We all thought, if I can just get my furniture across the state line. Wow. California, I use to say it was around to make Florida #49. But alas, Oregon and Washington proved the West Coast is far superior in falling cities. Good luck.

Things you missed along the way, the wonderful world and sites of the Southern San Francisco Peninsula, San Bruno and Daly City are cute but go past staying off the 101 till you've gone through Cities like San Mateo, Foster City, Santa Clara, and the other little Cities, I say little due to a few like Foster City aren't anything more then 15-25 blocks square wide, but Silicon Valley's biggest Tech Corporations are all along 1 main Blvd. That goes through them. At the end of the peninsula another Blvd starts and follows along next to the 101, but this drive starting in S. Of Market goes past the New Golden State Warriors Arena, The Cow Palace, on past the San Bruno Natural Gas Explosion site, in San Mateo there are like 5 or 6 malls, for an area that's 30 blocks by 25 blocks wide, next on to Foster City, not seeming intristing it has one of the most important places on the planet for any gamer, Sony's N. America Headquarters and Sony's Playstation World Headquarters are located in this seemingly tiny place but location is everything, known as Sony Foster City Campus, like Google down the street and Oracle's famous Emerald City Campus a few miles away, Sony expanded this campus over the last 7 years, it houses many software and game company's on its grounds along with offering classes that can become paid internships with Sony, the campus has free tour and exclusive things to see for the gamer in all of us, from Sony south you will pass tech, sortware, game, and electronic company's all the way through to the split and then on to San Jose. But let continue from south of Sony, next site to see is Cisco systems, this Cysco site is the Original Cysco systems building and house the entire West Coast, Midwest & part of East Coasts internet Servers, this building is know as the Core to hard core internet surfers, they give small tours of the Server Rooms which are actually whole floors, 7 of them to be exact. From Cysco south you will pass more tech company's until just past the road to Hayward Bridge, just a few block south, of that road, all the businesses and buildings seem to disappear and the view to the west reviles why, you'll star in awh as you gaze your eyes on what architects, company's and people in general call the most beautiful business complex in America and quit possibly in the world, it's a collection of towers, 6 or 7 I think, beautiful Dark Green tinted windows, Gold played trimming every where you've found the Emerald City, Oracle's humongous Complex, it's absolutely astonding and definitely a place to see, just near the end of its property is the the road to the west, taking this road takes you to San Jose, the City us Cultual beauty due to all the races that live in the silicon valley, brought here by silicon valley companys, along this road you will pass Activision/Blizzard corp Headquarters, the former Sun Systems offices, now Cysco gaming servers building, EA games Headquarters, IBM Headquarters, Apple's Headquarters, TH-cam's World Headquarters, Twitters Headquartes, MySpace's Headquarters, Sega America's Headquarters, Take2 Ent. Headquarters, Rockstar Games Headquarters, and many many more, just past the 101's on ramp to head south us the Great Mall of The Bay, the Second largest Mall in America, after that head back towards the T intersection the brought you south, and go back south on it, it will wind you through the hills of Redwood City before spitting you out in Santa Cruz, now the rest of you trip was perfect except 1 more thing, when at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk make sure you go to the Salt water taffy candy store, it's almost 100yrs old and most recent history is they created Chocolate covered Bacon, yummy.

Ehhhh as a person who live in the Bay, I dont see the thrill of driving pass tech headquarters: especially, all the crazy drivers who are clueless about where they going and make unexpected lane change when they see fb logo pops up. And GREATMALL is DEF NOT SECOND LARGEST IN America. If anything it is a boring looking outlet lmao

Years ago I've cruised HWY1 twice and still want to go back. At the moment we are actually planning a similar trip for next year and I gotta say, this is wayyyy more useful than the hundreds of those stock-videos-looking-road-trip-vids uploaded by people with just some music in the background ;))) your narrative gave it so much more (y)
