This amazing FREE campground is managed by Seattle City Lights! When you arrive, you will say to yourself that there is no way this campground is FREE.....but it is!!! Built in 2019, this 2.5 million dollar price tag has produced a beautifully manicured campground. Make sure to bring your water toys: kayaks, rafts, canoes, boats, paddle boards. You will want to get out on the water and travel a short distance up the pend oreille river to see PeeWee Falls. Now dont let the name fool you, peewee falls is a 180 ft waterfall that is a must see. On Non-covid years the Boundary Dam hosts free dam tours. You wont want to miss this location where the movie "The Postman" with Kevin Costner was filmed.

What an awesome video and what a great way to end it. I loved 'Roodle Love' clip. Our dog does the same thing. Roodle is really starting to look like a shaggy lion, so awesome.

I have a little kids tent, that fits inside the bed is truck I use sometimes. This tent is my I leave tent. Cost me $20, so I wouldn't kill me if it was stolen.
Perfect! I think we might need to invest in a tent like this. It would also be a good tent for roodle....he hated bugs and sometimes he just wants to hang outside.

Visited Metaline Falls years ago when my brother-in-law was working as the medic on the set for the film The Postman (with Kevin Costner). The old Town was fabulous to see. The old-timey theater was actually still showing movies and we went to one! Took a trip into Canada (to Nelson). Such a wonderful town. Will never forget how beautiful it was there.
Hi Dave, Carrie and Roodle. I had another one of my brilliant video ideas. What do you do to keep from getting cabin fever when the weather won't let you out to play? What do you look for to "get out of the house" when the weather isn't nice. Example: flea markets, farmers markets, laundromats for chores or thrift stores. How does weather play a role in your menu planning? How do you arrange your menu when you can't cook outdoors. Do you hit up a mom-n-pops diner? How do you stay entertained in a van. Do you play games? Plan your next trip? Clean House? My wife and I were discussing this the other day because so many TH-camrs talk about how the weather impacts your day to day activities.
As always, I appreciate your responses. I look forward to liking another one of your videos before I even watch it.
All great ideas!! Funny.... we cook about 90% of our meals in the van! I ( Carrie) Have a coloring book, we watch movies and play games on our mobile devices. Edit videos and even clean house! We will try to include some of this in future videos! We always appreciate your feedback!

I will ALWAYS take the first bite of pizza......mmmmm my favorite!! I was calling them groundhogs when I got there.....good to know! One of our favorite movies is "Groundhog Day" with Bill Murray.

Yes it is the folding one. I think it's made for propane only. It's a pretty fun treat to make pizza on the road! We may insulate it a bit to bring up the temperature a bit. Someone suggested a pizza stone in the bottom as well. 🍕 😀

also... I have a set of "stunt" tent, chairs, and hammock. Useful for letting the kiddos abuse them, or for "holding" a site. They don't take up too much room. My hammock is ALWAYS with me when I hike, you never know when you NEED it!
We rarely have this problem...usually we are the only ones around! Our backpacking tent is breaking down....I think we will keep this for holding a campsite.

I've just discovered your videos and have a question about your rig. Was quoted $108,000. for one like that. It was used but low in mileage and condition was like new. I am in Eugene, OR. Does that seem reasonable? I am a recent widow and currently have a 29' Winnebago Outlook that I will sell because it just seems too big for me alone. Your thoughts?
Another option might be a pickup truck with a camper set up. Our friends have done this and spent less money than we did and love there new no adic home. Definitely a lot of options to think about.

Yes, it was a beaver lodge in the cave! I think you two would have a grand time at this location. You will want to stay all week for sure.
Boundary Dam is an engineering Masterpiece and supplies about 40% of Seattle's power. The nearby Crawford Caves State Park is also worth a visit. I worked on the project for over a year. There were only 2 cafes nearby so Wednesday Night we car pooled to Nelson BC for dinner. One time we were late getting to the border but we found the Customs Guy in his house It was winter and below zero and he refused to open the gate but told us the key was under a pot at the gate house. We all got to work on time Thursday morning! Times have changed!
+Parker Holden that's awesome! Times have changed! We have visited Crawford Caves...also very nice. We have yet to go on the dam Tour. It was closed due to the pandemic both times we were there.
I love this video! If you remember, I live in FL (we met at a Tiny Living Festival in Orlando). Like most of the east coast, free sites are scarce. So we use a little pop up beach shelter that cost 15$ to hold our site when we boondock. We never know if it will be there when we return but so far so good. I love The Postman. It is so cool seeing the dam from those different perspectives. Thanks for this great video. I cant wait to spend summers away from FL. The north west is high on my list. Keep posting your wonderful videos!

Composting toilet vs RV black tank. The only thing I, as a wanna be full-timer can think of, is to be able to boondock for longer periods of time with no black tank overflow worries?

Thank you, Bryon. That's exactly the bonus. We don't have to find a dump station or worry about how long we are going to stay in one spot. Anything that provides more flexibility fits this lifestyle well. 😀
"pay" your fellow campers to watch over your sight, a 6 pack of beer might do the trick :) Especially if they are fans of yours, they will guard your site with their lives! ;)

So water and bathrooms avail. But what did you do about electrical power ? Just rely on solar ? (thanks for another great video!)
Yes, we have only plugged into shore power twice in two years. Our power demand is small with propane for cooking and heat. We are using a goal zero 1400 lithium power station with 200 watts of solar on our roof deck. It's a great match for us. It powers our fridge, fans, lights, water pump and charges all of our devices.

Maggie, I’m heading there. How were the crowds, shuttles, etc? Also: did you go in the Virgin River with the Cyanobacteria and all? It sounds like it’s fine so long as you don’t consume the water somehow.
Dusty Feller super busy. If you want to take the shuttle, you must purchase a $1.00 per person ticket only the day before. They go on sale at 9:00 am and you have to be fast. If you don’t have the tickets they won’t allow you on the bus. You must wear a mask to get on the bus. The bacteria is still a problem. Dogs are getting sick and dying. (At least one dog dye :( and for people they suggest no head under water. It was 104 degrees on August 12th

great info to pass along...thank you! When we were in the area last year several of the trails we closed in Zion and one of the entrances was closed....we decided not to go as every one was concentrated in one small area of the park.
one adVANture at a time apparently in the summer to keep the crowds down they provide a shuttle but off season the park is open for vehicles. Don’t let the crowds discourage you. It would make for an amazing video. There are two campgrounds in the park. I’d love to spend at least one night there. Dear everywhere.
Great adventure! You need to look up Carey On Vagabond on TH-cam to see how they improved the oven you use. They have made some amazing baked goods with it. They are a fun couple with a dog like you two and Dave was in the Coast Guard too.
We love Carey On Vagabond and are subscribed to their channel..... we even got to meet them in New Jersey. I have my sewing machine with me and I am just waiting to find some welding fabric to make a cover for our oven. Dave & Dave had a long conversation about the Coast Guard and such!! Its good to see them back on the road....their new van took a long time but looks amazing!!

One of my favorite places to camp. Boating the river is even beter. Z canyon is beautiful and PeeWee falls are an unforgettable treat.

@@oneadVANtureatatime until recently I have had a kayak of one size or another since 1982. For 20 years I was a fanatic, white water rivers and (really stupid) surfing hurricanes until they forced us off the beach. But now a class 2 river is more my speed😭. Lol.
I would try a paddle board on a class 2😉
We camped in the same spot last fall. It was perfect and the stars at night where incredible!

Boundary dam campground. That place is amazing! To me 108k sounds like a huge amount of money for a camper van. I wish I could look at it with you to see why they are charging so much. I would think you could find a nice used one in the 40 to 60k range but I know demand is high right now. We bought our van for 25k and put 11000 into it. We did all the labor so that may not benefit you. I wish I could be more helpful.

Really want a blow up paddle board myself! I use to do dolphin tours on hard paddle boards and had a chance to test drive the blow up and loved it! The camp ground was awesome! Beautiful! 🤙

We usually don't reserve our locations because most the time they are very remote but if we do we like to set the tent up ⛺.😀

The state camping pass is $40. a year. A couple TH-camrs like Washington because what it offers.
Is that a day pass? Or is camping included in the $40 yearly fee? If camping is included that is a great deal. We never looked at this options as we usually free camp but it might open a lot of other opportunites.

We hope the campground will always be free as well. This is a great time for a nomadic lifestyle as we are starting to see several free camping areas changing to fees. Someday free camping might be hard to find.
