@@NoviceWildCamper this is a game changer! I didn't know it was an option. I guess I never looked because I heard you shouldn't use a windscreen with these.
I tried a titanium foil windshield but 1, it was awful (couldn't turn the gas off) and 2, it was dangerous as the heat transfered down to the cannister.
Take an 85mm x 45mm can of tuna, remove the lid, eat the tuna, then cut a 70mm circle in the bottom. It slips on top of the BRS 3000T nicely and does much the same thing.
The low center of gravity will warm up the canister enough to absolutely help in serious cold. Making a make shift natural wind break on site is often an option. Lots of wind screens on fhe market will fit it surely. A truly epic stove especially for the price. If it was made in Japan it would cost $50-$80+ I just got a brand new, complete and pristine (made in Japan) Brunton Vapor-AF. I’ve wanted one of these since 2008 when my son was 2. The fuel options are amazing. It can run any fuel known to man. Using gasoline for stove fuel creeps me out but having the option for emergencies is nice. With my other stoves and the new BRS Hornet and my new Brunton Vapor-AF I’m now covered for any type of outdoor adventure or emergency.
I do own one of those and have mixed feelings about it. My concern is that when the ring is on it reflects a lot of the heat down towards the canister. The bottom part of the brs stove gets really hot 🔥 near the gas canister threads. And surely the o ring inside gets really hot too. The top part of the canister also gets hot and the pressure inside increases for sure...
I did check the gas cannister and it was stone cold when I used it. I think if youre using it in high winds then it won't be a problem as the heat is blown about and if no wind then if leave it off. Its difficult as we want a wind deflector that works and is small and light but there is always the risk of transfer of heat in the wrong situation. 👍
I looked it up. I've never ordered anything from AliExpress, so I think they gave me a steep discount. It was less than $5 USD. Looking forward to testing it. The Optimus clip on windscreen I have been using weighs 87 grams. This Neoross ring says it weighs 50 grams, so almost a 40 gram savings.
Once you hit 70g+ in weight and £40 in cost - you may as well buy a SOTO windmaster. It has a decent built-in wind shield and micro regulator. It's also more efficient on gas.
Sound good. Admittedly this shield is a little heavy. I've stopped using it now and have a lightened version of the folding windshields as it's more stable as well 👍
@@NoviceWildCamper - 49 gms, fits around my pot cozy (or inside bear canister, if needed), sits on ground, has reflector to keep gas canister cool, and has three rods so my pot is supported on the chimney instead of on the stove supports (stove is thus free-floating, I save the weight of a gas canister base). It acts as a heat chimney, keeping the hot air from the stove against the pot sides. I use it wind or no, and I save over 49 grams of fuel in a couple days use! Can't figure out how to add a picture... 🙄
I made my own windscreen with titanium foil that wraps around my pot and folds/crimps to itself. It weighs 4grams and slides down when I need it, otherwise it is tight around my pot and out of the way.
I tried that and found there is no exhaust at the top for the heat to escape and it suffered from convection if on a high heat. It also can be used with a fry pan like the Neo Ross.
@@HardyBunster I also did exactly the same as that guy with titanium foil. If there's no vent holes just under the pot the flame get suffocated. I took that foil and made a something similar like the one in the video. The good thing is that it can unfold and fit in any pot and also weight like nothing.
I was looking at these a while a go but I have a Soto windmaster so don't really use my BRS anymore. I didn't bother because the soto weighs less than the BRS, windshield and lighter and the windmaster doesn't need a windshield or lighter
Only if you got the optional tri flex pot stand otherwise its 87g and my set up is 24g BRS, 49g windshield so 63g total and a lot cheaper and the soto wouldn't fit in my pot. I always carry a lighter cos if the piezo goes your buggered.
@@antduke2361 it's.a bit of.difference and you have to buy the options tri flex pot holder for it to be the same weight then the cost goes up more. Plus, it won't fit in my pot 👍

To be honest, the last couple of hammock camps have been with the onewind as I'm really trying to see if can get sleep properly in a non flat lay. 50g is pretty heavy... the dimensions are listed, I'm wondering if the design can be duplicated by cutting up a titanium cup with a similar diameter. I'm tempted to try it.
The wind shield looks good, but are there any other channels by which we can buy it from, I don't really want to purchase from Aliexpress and import it from china. I'm in USA. Any other alternatives?
Evening, can I ask what canister stand you are using? I can't find one that fits inside my 750ml pot, the OEX & jetboil are larger than the canister, I did see a video where it actually pushed inside the dome on the bottom of the cylinder when folded, thought it was one of yours but hunted and can't see it, think this is the only item not in your gear list 🤣
Hi. I must admit it was a long time ago. I just got it from ali express, there's loads on there and they're pretty much the same. I don't believe it fits in the dome of the cannister though. I just squeeze it into the pot with everything.

Sorry just saw this very informative video when I was thinking about buying this windshield. What made me curious before deciding to buy it (or maybe there's something in your explanation that I missed); with a downward height of only 3.5 cm, is this windshield able to withstand the wind that intrudes in from below?
It basically gives some additional wind protection but you can't go too low as the heat could affect the gas cannister. If it was made in titanium it would be even better as the weight is my only issue with it 👍
@@NoviceWildCamper Ah right, I didn't think about the heat. So the point is that this windshield is enough to withstand the wind coming from below, right? If you think it's worth having, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it
It definitely helps for sure but in all honesty a wrap around one would work better but take up more space. I've started to go back to my old 4 piece one that pokes into my table so it stays solid in the wind 👍
