Many comments said it was probably a fox. I also had a local tell me the same thing.... I definitely hope you get to do some fat bike camping. So fun. Thanks for your comment!

Hi Kevin, Hope the pieroges I gave you a couple of months ago were good. The sound you heard was a Fox Scream. They often do that at night when they are sorting out territory. Keep up the good work,...By the way, Foxes will often hiss like a cat as well and that sound can be very disconcerting in the dark as well. Best wishes.

Hey George! The pieroges were delicious! I gave you a plug in that video. I hope you saw it. th-cam.com/video/ZCBnzXROJcE/w-d-xo.html
After some research I kind of concluded that it was a fox. I'm glad I know now..haha. Thanks for the confirmation 👍. Stay well and keep that baking going!

Awesome video man. I hear those same kind of sounds at my house. Fox’s scream like that and I’m not sure if you have fishers out by you but they also make a similar scream like that.
Be safe out there.. cheers !

Thanks man. Yes after the fact I was thinking maybe a fox. We have fishers as well so could be that though I haven't seen any myself. At least now I have and idea and know it wasn't a sasquach! 🤣 Thanks for the input!

It's the easiest tarp setup to build while you are in the forest. You don't need any tent pole for that. The disadvantage: Floor area - smaller than other setups. But you can lowering the grip point on the tree to enlarge the floor area.

Lowering the grip point makes sense. I might have to try it. Thanks for the comment!

Your dinner looked delicious. I like your tarp setup. But my goodness your kit is heavy, bulky, just a lot. There are about 1000 ways you could lighten your load and still be comfortable. For example, by switching from that thick heavy rope for your tarp to dyneema. You could also use dyneema cordage for your bear hang. Lighter weight stakes. That alone could probably save you like 2 or 3 pounds and be way less bulky in your pack. Giant wall thermometer?
Also, I bring earplugs when I'm camping. As long as you are taking precautions with your food around your camp, and it appears that you are, in a remote location like that, the critters aren't going to bother you. Pop a pair of ear plug in your ears and tune it out.

Ahhh yes. I'm often guilty of taking too much stuff. I'll definitely look into that cordage you mentioned. This was a grab what you have kind of trip. Thanks for the advice. I'm learning as I go so I appreciate it!

Hello Kev. I can't help but notice that you're carrying so much stuff. And what's worse- most of it on your back. I did the same mistake while backpacking, having a huge 60l backpack on my back.
It's just my opinion of course but this really takes the joy from my trip and most importantly the quality of my ride. I found even if I go with just a small backpack it's waaay more pleasant to ride long distances and go uphill. Not to mention it's really bad for your back and neck to do that. Not judging, as I said I did the same a while ago 😄
Since I'm a light rider I got myself bike trunk to hold two 15l saddlebags and a 10l saddle backpack. Also bought some lighter gear and removed completely some of it.
That setup makes it joyful and I can ride harder for longer.
Have you considered saddle/handlebar bags or something to offload your shoulders? Godspeed!
PS: I really like that you used a paracord to lift up your food supply. I will use this to avoid unwanted guests in my camp!

I'm always guilty of bringing too much.
Saddle bags instead of my big backpack are definitely in my future I think. I appreciate the tips!

Good idea. Had a fire in my last camping vid but no open fires allowed this time of year in my area. I would have loved to have one!

It was probably a deer. I have heard them cry out like that in the night.

I did see some deer scat close by.
