Little story about Travis. Back in the day he lived in Norco, Calif. Blink182 was huge at the time, and my daughter was a big fan. I found out where he lived , and on the way to the beach that day with my family, I decided to cruise by his pad. My daughter had no idea what was up. Sure enough as we get close to his house I point to the house and tell her who lives there, of course, she thinks I'm BSing her. Well the stars must have been alignment that day because guess who comes out of a side gate...Yes Travis himself. He had his Rottweiler with him and they were about to go for a walk. My daughter begins to shit little green heliopters because she can't believe what she is seeing. She was about 13 at the time. I called out to Travis, apologized to him for any bother, and asked if he could just say hello to my daughter, a huge fan. Thinking he would tell me to fuck off, I crossed my fingers hoping for the best. He smiled and came right over said hello, signed his name onto a napkin ( we didn't have any paper) with a message to her. We told him that we also resided in Norco, and at the time also had a Rottweiler. So we talked about our dogs for a bit. He was Awesome, gracious, a gentleman, humble to a fault. He actually took the time to speak to me and my family, WOW. From that day on we have been loyal Travis Barker fans. My daughter, now 30 , still has the napkin, framed, hanging on a wall at her home. Travis is a great musician, but a much, much greater human being. Thank you Travis.

I loved his book. His father told him that he needed to work on a back up plan in case music didn't work. So, he started getting tattoos. Now, tats are pretty acceptable now, but when Travis was career planning, tats were a job killer, only for prisoners and garbage men.
It’s people like Travis that give me the will to keep going on and that when you push through you come back stronger and wiser. Love you man. Keep up the great work. Your an inspiration!
What an amazing dude. To go through the hell he did and to come out of it the way he has, is pretty amazing. How can you not like Travis after listening to this. One of the better guests Joe has had on.
I feel like this is one of Joes better interviews. I appreciate that he’s never scripted and always himself, but he really gave Travis some time to speak with just the right amount of feedback. Also, finally someone that Joe didn’t lecture for being vegan.
Ashley Stevens i think he didn’t lecture because of Dana Whites approval, his reason for being vegan, & his statement that 80% of people who eat there aren’t even vegan. good on joe tho
Truly inspiring! Biggest take away is - I'm going to do this no matter if I'm Rich or Poor, I'm obsessed and this is my life, don't fall back on the safety net! Big Fan of Joe Rogan and Travis! Amazing Podcast! Thank you!
Travis Barker is the epitome of don't judge a book by its cover. He's one the best drummers hands down. Has an amazing heart honestly but looks like a drug addict who's been in prison. He's one my favorite people in music. He's been through hell with the plane accident and the 3rd degree burns and loss of his best friend because of it DJ AM but has maintained his understanding and joy of life. He's the fucking man. Edit: oh boy this post attracted all of the children. He's not Tool or Rush's drummer! Jesus christ man. I can play Tool and Rush on the drums with ease because I am a drummer. At the end of the day Travis would murder me. Stop listening to the genre and listen to the skill. If you don't think he could play or create odd time signatures, you're obviously not a drummer or at least a good one. Listen to what he does to a solid 4/4 pop punk song and how he makes it interesting.
I was literally about to post that he looks like a drug addict, he has those hopeless heroin eyes. If he's a vegan surely he's careful about his health so I hope he's doing well

I usually don’t write/post comments on TH-cam. However, I never miss any of Rogans podcasts and I have to say that this podcast in particular was awesome. Rogan was cool and articulate as usual and Travis Barker has to be one of the most inspiring people he’s had on in quite awhile. Everything he’s gone through and overcome to be an amazing human being. After his accident he could of easily gave up on life due to his circumstances, but he didn’t. Barker powered through it and made it his bitch. Great podcast!
I seriously love Travis so much. I’m sitting here at 28 with no idea what to do with my life and this man has not only given me a reason to keep living with his music, but just hearing him speak and how he maintains himself is fucking amazing. I’d do anything just to meet him and experience everything he has worked through and even though. I wish I could work for him. Keep it up Travis I love you dude. Your book is amazing.
Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls your weird dude.. you though let Travis was wasting his life but you love yelawolf. Travis is far more successful than yelawolf will ever be.
@Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls so you think being one biggest bands of late 90s and 00s, being one of the most influential drummers in rock and having net worth of 40 to 50 million is wasting his life away....jesus
My friends and I every winter play “I Miss You” when we head up to one of our favorite ski resorts. It’s a small detail but means the world to me. Every year that I get the opportunity to head back up with my friends I just thank the universe for allowing us one more year together to shred together. Blink 182 is one the greatest bands of all time and they have a super special place in my heart because I literally grew up with there music. Thank you Mr. Barker, you and your band mates are absolutely insane musicians.
That song was one of the most influential songs of my childhood. Mirrored exactly what i was feeling. I've been snowboarding my whole life up in MN so its cold as balls and we basically only have small hills with rails but it was awesome.
If the guy can type fast, just have joe ask quesitons, the dude types it out, and jamie or someone else can read it back. Or the guy can write if he can't type. It would be a little slower pace show than usual, and maybe even a shorter podcast, but it would be awesome, and I'm sure the guy would love a chance to "get his thoughts" through to millions of people, after not speaking for 20+ years. The irony. Would be pretty friggin awesome...... Upvote if you agree.
I picked up drumming too, tried hard but didn't get famous. It's easy for people who made it to say it but only a small percentage get anywhere. Same with acting, comedians, etc.
Thank you Travis for your thoughtful and inspirational words, and Joe for this podcast. I'm a drummer/percussionist in my first stage of freelancing after graduating grad school. I'm hustling hard trying to make music for a living, and as much as I love playing drums everyday, I often have days where I question whether or not I will make it. Hearing your story of not accepting any alternative but your passion has rejuvenated my drive! Thanks man, I'm excited to play drums today.

I love it, respect him and joe so much, really one of the best podcasts in have heard.
I didn't have much thoughts of him before but after watching this he seems like a solid person.
Dude used to be wild af. Good to see he has calmed down
Wow Travis has one of those voices you could listen to all day.
I sound exactly like him. Let's talk
If you just pay attention to his demeanor and listen to his voice, he is one of the most ordinary person. Yet, his stories, experiences, and his talent is anything but.
he's very well spoken.
There’s A LOT wrong with Rogan, but he’s literally NEVER lectured a vegan.
Get some real protein. You’re losing your grip on reality.
Truly inspiring! Biggest take away is - I'm going to do this no matter if I'm Rich or Poor, I'm obsessed and this is my life, don't fall back on the safety net! Big Fan of Joe Rogan and Travis! Amazing Podcast! Thank you!
That lit a fire under my ass too!
✊✊✊✊
Survivor bias is real with this podcast.
Anicodeaufo 59 you must be that guidance counsellor.
What time in was that?
joe rogans camp reached out to get the silent guy on podcast...still waiting to hear back.
roskinc think he called but no one was there.....
You could send a letter
roskinc 🌻That is funny 😄🌻
even with the other guy no talking I feel it would be a very good interview and if Joe pulls it off Hes a God!!! lol
Joe: "So you took a vow of silence over 20 years ago, how's that going?"
Guy: "..."
Listen to what he does to a solid 4/4 pop punk song and how he makes it interesting.
u must not know alot of drummers
@@alxofficial1541 Tons of drummers.
It's his vegan diet. Very unhealthy
Lol barker is average at best, just a lucky guy who knew or blew the right people.
I was literally about to post that he looks like a drug addict, he has those hopeless heroin eyes. If he's a vegan surely he's careful about his health so I hope he's doing well
I already loved Travis Barker but I love him even more now. Just so genuine and nice I would do anything to be friends with him!... 🖤
Get Johnny Knoxville on the Podcast

Yooooo this is a good one. That would be very interesting
Fuck yeah!

I grew up listening to Blink 182. Watching this guy now as an adult and listening to how he’s quit drugs and party life is amazing. Blink 182 was the shizzz back then!
Dude same here! This was really good
I loved blink and I Loved alkaline trio since I was 12, 25 now. But I HATE that Matt skiba is in blink now. Blinks recognizable sound was all from toms guitar and awesome voice. Now they are just old dudes trying to hold on the what little fame they still have. California was a shit album
Major props to Joe for not trying to question him on being vegan in a bad way and just enjoying the conversation.. and GOD BLESS TRAVIS BARKER he's amazing
emericadill vegan has a ton of benefits it’s probably the healthiest way to life if you’re not an athlete
Right, Travis "I had that ailment" Parker isn't exactly a great advert for veganism.
@@onetwothree4148 but.... the ailments weren't caused by veganism were they? They were caused by drugs / plane crash / excessive drumming.

Travis might be the coolest and most well-adjusted guy I've ever seen.

I grew up loving Blink182 but never heard Travis talk much. What a cool dude.
I’ll never forget the time I went to see blink-182 in Dublin and Travis Barker done a set upside down it was unforgettable

not at all like what I thought, he is such a humble, gentle guy, wow. never would've thought that he's vegan/veggie, a father , plane* crash, burn victim, doesn't do any drugs, works in rap too - such a chill guy, great podcast. love how JR is such a good interviewer, asks good question. travis seems like he'd normally be quiet
Most inspiring since David Goggins
I'm a TH-cam publisher. If you need me to publish your comments for huge gains let me know.
He has a problem pushing back on his guests so he needs to stick with interviewing cool people instead
Mr. H Okay thank you very much.

@B K haha same, the song is so heavily imprinted with good memories heading to the slopes, a seasonal anthem 👌🏼
