I am an older American to whom "Lady Gaga" was merely a name. (I had actually thought she might be a drag performer.) So I had no idea what to expect. Her performance so moved me. Somehow she managed to palpably display both the pride of a queen as well as the humility of one so honored to be asked to perform on this special occasion. As for the anthem, she made it better than it actually is musically. Her embellishments of the phrases were remarkably, but appropriately, restrained as if to say "I know that this performance is not about me."
She was beaming the whole time. This is a difficult song to sing well. This is a woman who knows how to sell a song to the crowd. She gives every performance her all.

I am an older American to whom "Lady Gaga" was merely a name. (I had actually thought she might be a drag performer.) So I had no idea what to expect. Her performance so moved me. Somehow she managed to palpably display both the pride of a queen as well as the humility of one so honored to be asked to perform on this special occasion. As for the anthem, she made it better than it actually is musically. Her embellishments of the phrases were remarkably, but appropriately, restrained as if to say "I know that this performance is not about me."
Her Superbowl performance was awesome too. She had more liberty as to how to mitigate the stanzas.
She was beaming the whole time. This is a difficult song to sing well. This is a woman who knows how to sell a song to the crowd. She gives every performance her all.
