The once fastest Indian now gets improved aesthetics with a slight price increase, complying with BS-IV emission norms. It still remains a fantastic bike to ride with decent mileage and an exhaust which has good bass.
The 2017 Pulsar 220 competes with the TVS Apache 180, it also rivals its own stablemate, the Pulsar 200 NS.

actually 16 litres of petrol fits in it ...superb mileage of 45 and if ridden in high rpms you get minimum 40 kmpl and you can easily cruise at speeds of 100 kmph on highways and it's very comfortable ..super reliable engine. cheapest spares ..loud dual horn .. powerful headlights with high intensity and over all a low maintenance bike ..good looks and styling ..all for just 1 lakh rupees on road ..so .. 220 is not outdated it's still a legend in it's segment ..and don't bring ns200 into comparison with 220 ..NS 200 is off a different level, more powerful bike you can compare that to duke and rs200 and other performance bikes
220 is the value for money bike when compared to fz fazer Gixxer etc ..hornet 160 itself is 98k so definitely on can choose 220 over other bikes

2) Driven harsh(crazy) in cities
3) Driven sensibly between 50 - 70

dude ! the sad matter is, Bajaj Auto has now reduced the 220's power output from 21.05 HP to 20.93 HP (a marginal decrease of 0.12 HP) and torque from 19.12 Nm to 18.55 Nm (a small decrease of 0.57 Nm) owing to the upgrade to BS4 engines and AHO .. apart from all ,,, choose older BS3 engine (based on availibility 2nd hand with good condition) for more power ...👍

Bajaj has been pretty lazy updating this bike, they should add better a suspension, Monoshock at the rear, also change the engine a bit to get more torque at lower rpms and add a sixth gear, get a brand new digital panel, led turn indicators and headlamp, and a big redesign for the bike fairings, because it looks outdated. for last bigger rear and front tyres would be cool and would add better stability to the bike(100-80 at the front, and 140-60 at the rear) especially because it's more of a touring bike, that way the pulsar 220f would be a huge success, but Bajaj have let it die, little by little
They have already done all that with the 200 NS.
MotorBeam but i'm talking about Pulsar 220f, not the NS, i like more the 220 Engine because the power and torque comes earlier, and with a big update it would sell very well as a touring bike. but as i stated, Bajaj as been lazy with the Pulsar 220, which haven't had a important change in almost 10 years. i'm sure they want it to die, that's why the 200AS came out recently, but people love more the 220 engine than the 200, and that's why it still selling well, so why not an update to a bike that has such a legacy

I m talking about pulsar 220 f , go to powerdrif chanel and chek it out review on pulsar rs 200 vs pulsar 220f , 220f beats rs on 0-60 (3.5 secs) rs beats 220f on 0 -100 (9.4) top speed for 220f is 135 vbox & 140 for rs200 .. apache 200 only reachs 127 kmph .. personaly i own p220f and i've touched 159 kmph on speedo, my friend has ktm duke 200 , duke only touches 138 kmph on route p220 beats easily duke 200 becouse has higuer top speed .
The theme background pushes me that my next bike should be this, not avenger or new rs series. Hoping 2018 version offer abs and front dual disk including more improved aerodynamics and engine.

at what speed can you cruise without revving to much
70km @5k Rpm, 80km @6k Rpm. It goes smoothly till 90km @7k Rpm. Anything above that feels engine is begging for more revs (asking for going faster and faster) But the ride gets harsher and harsher. Definitely 5k-6k Rpm is the sweetspot, best mileage and still has plenty of power to overtake traffic without downshifting.

I did own at 2012 model. and both the same again in 2017 based on that and after driving for 1500 Km here are the key points.
differences:
1. no auto indicator off.
2. feels less powers(still a descent torque and pickup) so you feel it relatively much smoother.
3. now a pulsar 220 sounds like earlier pulsar 150
4. There used to be vibration on the visor in earlier model. With current model there is vibration all across the body(regardless off the rpm i.e, above 2X). and you feel the most, under the seat. that is you b... is/are all vibrating once you cross 4X rpm..
With all these drawbacks. Still there is no descent competitor to this in the market. with perfect mixture of budget/cc/torque/millage/top speed this stands out of the crowd with no efforts.
Exactly, the 220 has no direct rival.
we have to look out for fz 250 when it arrives.. though

it is still the fastest indian all technology in the 220 is developed by indian Engineers and rs200 and ns200 are based exactly on the duke 200 technology and built on dukes engineering ...raw indian development is done on the 220 and it is the fastest compared to any other indian bike like apache

Indians have to mature a lot in terms of choosing bike, Bajaj tried to replace it with a AS200 but we went on buying a 10 year old bike. AS200 is better in every dimension. A genuine effort by Bajaj ruined.
That's the problem they are facing, people still want to buy old bikes like the first generation Pulsars, Unicorn 150 and Glamour/Splendor/Shine/Passion.
