Even though, I wanted to reach out to Mateo about buying the van for my dad and I, I'm sooooooo happy he gave it to you instead of selling it. Because seeing how peaceful you are in it while the kids are with their dad, warms my heart.

A little safety suggestion: Set out TWO chairs so it's not so obvious that you are a woman camping solo. Some chairs (even under $30 on AMZ) fold up tiny, so they don't take much space. One chair should be a color that a man would choose (dark blue, dark green, burgundy, beige,or black)! Happy camping ....and great taking care of yourself!

Hey kid next time you put your awing up or down roll it out and leave the legs (poles) down short while you do your hooks and stuff on the side so you can reach them, then raise the poles all the way up. If you need to extend them first just put the bottoms of the poles back toward your van so height will be closer to your height then pull them out to raise it 😊

I love the awning shade is so important. Get a net that will cover the awning and van to the back door. Also make sure you light your citronella candle when you set up and get some peppermint oil and sprayed around your van. It will keep rodents away, they hate the smell.

Hi great video. I think for safety reasons you should definitely put the awning away each night when you’re alone just in case you have to drive away quickly in an emergency situation.

You can cook with Oil or Butter just get a pan screen from a dollar store. I use it all the time, works wonders. ENJOY! Love the Videos.

Just a tip! There's another youtuber that has a similar toilet setup. She lines the bottom of the bucket with a puppy pad in case there's a hole in the bag or it falls over the side. She takes another one and puts it between the lid and the seat at the top to catch any condensation that forms.

I understand what you are saying about being in the house without your kids because it’s hard being there alone without them , when I started chemo I didn’t want to stay in my house after that because it reminded me of being sick so I just wanted to go out in nature and it was sooo peaceful. Hi Rochelle. Maybe a splatter screen would keep the oil from going all over. I think Dollar stores have them. Also, you should block your license plate. Just in case. Loved the cushion for your chair. Enjoy your videos always. 🙂💕

Remember, you don't have to use water and soap to wash dishes like in sticks and bricks. Save your water. Get a pkg of baby wipes and bottle of 90% alcohol. Pour just a little in the wipes... Instant wash for dishes, even for hands.

Coop vid...actually you want the awning tilted or one side lower. In case it rains the water will not pool but run off one side. Also use guy lines to anchor it to pegs into the ground to protect it from being damaged.

I can soooo relate. ❤. I have been divorced for a year and a half and am still really struggling, particularly with depression when my daughter leaves to go to her dad's. Its gut wrenching and debilitating. Im glad you have found solace in going out in nature. I wish i could do it. To get the most out of ur bags consider composting. Buy a bag of potting soil and a bag of wood chips. After each use put a scoop of each. Cuts the smell out and breaks down the waste.

I am so happy for you 😍 I'm a domestic violence survivor that decided to leave my situation, I've been living in my truck for a year and 3 months trying to get my life back together, watching you has given me a sense of peace that I can't explain! If only I had the courage to document my whole year of my "truck life" I probably could of inspired people like u do us ;I used to think that I was the only one going through things but I am not alone❤ I recently got a new job (where I'm watching you now lol) and I'm also saving towards my goal as well! I started out in a really old truck, not by choice. It was so hard and I was crushed by shame and spent 1.5 years trying to be invisible, and uncontrollable crying. That was 2018-2020. Then a guy on his phone hit me head on and totalled my truck. Covid unemployment money let me purchase a van, which is actually a rolling dumpster that barely runs, but it's a place! I'm not on the street or in a tent. I'm rooting hard for Rochelle, you, and the vehicle dwelling community! 💪🏽

I'm so thankful because I found a place to park not far from my job! There are a few others out there to with me , I don't communicate with them for safety reasons but I pray for them along with myself and now I'll do the same for you! We GOT THIS ! suggestion.....most vanlifers , we put some pine pellets in there l They absorb the pee and helps with odor , Tractor aupply carries it . For a Smaller bag ...Publix carries "Feline Pine Original 100% Natural Cat Litter"20 lb , (which are pine pellets too)

I second this suggestion. Pine pellets (also called bedding) are the best for price and odor control. I use it in my litter boxes too. Don’t buy as a specialty product such as cat litter. Much cheaper if you buy in bulk as pellets or bedding. It’s saved me a lot of $$. I just found you and I’ll be following you on your adventures. You’re an inspiration! Awesome toilet. I saw another camper who lined the waste bag with an in expensive “puppy “ pad to absorb any liquid waste then ties up and throws in the trash. Great job on the awning. It makes life cozy too.

I bought a similar toilet to yours to save space when travelling. I put kitty litter in the bottom of the plastic toilet bag which works fine but kitty litter is expensive where I live so I purchased commode pads from Temu. They are like blotting paper but turn to gel when you pee on them. They are cheap and pee doesn’t slosh 😂 around when emptying the pee bag.

That portable toilet is great if you have to go in the middle of the night. My husband has a similar one in his work truck. For when he's on the road working.

Hooray for a proper potty bucket! That is super compact! Your awning is huge and would be cute with some lace or sheer curtain panels on the sides!
My little pro tip on the bathroom situation: after I set a trash bag in my toilet, I lay a puppy pad inside the bag. It's super absorbent, contains odors a little longer than just waste inside a plastic bag, and I'm not as worried about the bag ripping or of unseen holes.

That toilet is so cool! I mean even when traveling with kids... I've seen people mention using kitty litter in portable toilets to make cleanup easier.

I’m not a traveling nomad (except when I go to my sister’s house out-of-state). But, I got a 5-gallon bucket, and then , purchased a toilet seat w/lid at Walmart (camping section), and it stays in my van all the time. I keep some of my grandbabies, on occasion, but haven’t had to use it for them yet, even though, it’s ready when the time comes. ONE NOTE: I tried several brands of kitty litter, but couldn’t handle the smell. However, I found a substitute at Walmart stores: pine pellets….what a game changer!! They’re with the kitty litter. I can’t remember the name, but it is around 11 lbs and part of the bag is green. I also use a few sheets of dry paper towels to help keep down the moisture from the inside of the bucket. I’ve had no problem with smells. But, just in case, I keep a small spray bottle of air fragrance next to the bucket. My Mother-in-law has 3 cats, and has tried every kitty litter in the Kitty Litter Encyclopedia (!!!), and nothing worked for her!! I was finally able to convince her to try the pine pellets: she loves them, and won’t buy anything else!! Also, the pine pellets seem to be a little cheaper than the regular kitty litters. (I’m in the upstate of sc- subscribed)
