you dont need to actually move that slow. just dont leave her behind too much. (like transition screens without her around). The Ending system is more of a point system than a requirement. Most points determines the ending and different behaviors add and remove points.

You’ll generally get whichever ending you’ve not already seen because endings not yet arm get a boost to their required points.
Silent Hill's music always makes me comfortable yet really sad at the same time. What a great game

As a Silent Hill 2 fan who played on Ps2, and Xbox 360 Silent Hill HD collection versions, It's always refreshing to see other gamers who have NEVER played the game make content about the game. It let's me relive my Ps2 era days and remembering all the pain. Now I just speed run the game and win it in less than an hour most times (Dog ending of course)
Hardest challenge IVE ever had to do is stand up from the work bathroom after watching this whole thing while im meant to be working.

I would call the Leave ending the "good" ending, for the most part. At least between the three main ones.
I would agree that it's the "good" ending but not the "best". I've seen a breakdown of how the endings work and how they are scored. Each of the three main endings (Leave, In Water, Maria) start with a base score as soon as you begin, and specific triggers and playing behaviour will add or remove points that contribute to each ending. If you have already completed one of those three endings, the other two get an extra starting point, and if there's only one of the three left, that one starts with 2 extra points (to make it easier to get).
The developers have alluded that the the In Water ending is the best and I would agree because it is the most tragic and really suits James. It also starts with the least points on the tally, for the other SH games, the better endings take more work to achieve.
I think the word you're looking for isn't the "best" but the most canon. Yes it's true the in-water ending is the most canon but art is a subjective thing. The leave ending has the best song in my opinion and it is hands my favorite ending. But honestly, nothing describes how good this ending is than this TH-cam comment I came across from another video:

I normally don't shy away from a challenge, but I REALLY hope they change up the 10 star run a bit in the remake. It seems so incredibly tedious for the sake of being tedious.
I hope so too, I really want a difficult BUT fun trophy list from the Remake!
@@thegreyscott I'd probably be fine if they at least gave us a menu so we can track how many kills we have, how many damage we've taken and how long the playthrough is at the moment + a timer for the boat ride. Keep the challenge, but make it more user friendly with some quality of life upgrades.

@@NeoLotex which is probably why it didn't appear in any of the REmakes till 4. Mainly cause 4 started the Chapter based thing till 7 or so
I remember platting SH2 when it came out. I felt like that cop who went down the slide by the time I'd done it. If its any consolation, Silent Hill 3's platinum by comparison is MUCH MUCH easier.
Props to you for even putting up with the HD collection at all to be honest.

Regarding everything you mentioned with In Water - you don't have to do of those things, but those are the things that make it more likely for you to get the ending. The first time I played SH2 I got In Water, but the only things from that list that I did were be really low health a lot and listen to the entire Maria dialogue at the end. I never found that text in the bar until my third or fourth play through, probably only examined Angela's knife once, never found the headphones in the hotel, etc.
I’m pretty sure the same is true for the Maria ending. He keeps Maria in view of his screen 24/7 and I think that’s mad overkill
I also have to add.... I am dying over here at "Twitch chat decided that it was ok to completely ruin emotional scenes". Hell yeah we do! It's right up there with stealing fries.

Awesome, I'm pretty impressed, I chose different save points and I feel that you were risked but you got it, I never finished the trophy hunt in this game because it broke like 8 time in the hotel and that really pissed me off
I did this platinum many years ago, the most complicated part for me Going fot the 10 stars was the piramid head chase, I was able to complete it in one time regardless before my first save which made what was left easier!

I commend you for persevering in this endeavor. I too have 100% Silent Hill HD Collection on my Xbox. I’ve debated on trying to platinum it on my PlayStation side, but I doubt Sony has put any significant updates the way that Microsoft did through the backwards compatibility program so the thought of trying this abomination of a remaster in its original broken form is sooooo not territory I want to go into. I had no idea you could get through the Mary fight by running around in a circle, could’ve saved me a lot of grief! Haha. Congratulations!

Ah the memories of those really hard Trophies, even back in the day when I was a more hard core Trophy Hunter I tend to avoid Trophy Hunting games that where very hard, but I done a few. I didn't Plat Silent Hill 2, but I did Plat Dead Space 2 which has the same difficulty score as Silent Hill 2.
Dead Space 2 Hardcore is legendary, I love that trophy list!
@@thegreyscott Think it took me a week, my biggest annoyance was not dying all the time, it was having to watch those cutscenes over and over again. Just man really not a fan of the Dead Space lore and stories.

Currently playing this on the ps2. Its so good but while it is on the ps2 the graphics are a bit low and in the dark parts are very dark.
I love every part of this game from the creepy sounds and the beautiful sound track. And love the choppy graphics, puzzles and so many other things.

Man, I could never struggle through this, and I’ve beat Silent Hill 2 38 (almost 39) times… to this day my favorite video game of all time

This was a difficult challenge. Tried to do it again recently on my PC port but got 9.4. The only way I could do it was count each kill, save in the rights areas, etc. And repeat that hallway sequence a bit until I figured out how to slow 'him' down.

I was over the moon when I got the platinum for both 2 & 3. The worst part was when I was doing only 1 save halfway through a play through and the game crashed. I felt like giving up because I was scared of it doing the same thing. But I stuck to it and achieved both. Cannot wait to try and Plat the remake when it releases.

You have an iron will. I did the 7 Day survivor achievement in Dead Rising way back when, I made it to the 3 day mark and my system crashed. Never attempted again, I was just too mad for being screwed. It's one thing when it's you own fault, but for the system or the game to error. I don't know how you came back from the glitching through the floor BS. Kudos to you.
I made it so far, I might as well push through it to get back to the end otherwise all the time put into getting this was a waste haha. That's usually my mindset! Also, terribly sorry that happened to you, that's awful!

When i initially played through the remake on PS3, i got about 3 endings using just one playthroughs second save file.....saved me a lot of time.
Just so you know, you CAN change the 3d controls (tank controls) to 2d which is far more easier to play in Options. If you want the secret options by press L1+R1 in options.
Ehhhh I mean it took like 30 mins or less to get used to how the controls worked. I appreciate the heads up though!

I know this is about trophies but the conditions and specific items required for each ending are not tied to trophies. Just for anyone playing a version which (thank god they still exist) don't have trophies.
Some of the things you've described in relation to each ending have either specific thresholds, one off actions, or ongoing timers. For example, if you bump into Maria 30 or more times you get a point taken away from the Maria ending. There's also a timer running constantly when Maria's sections are active, which measures your proximity to Maria, that will contribute to the Maria ending tally.
Viewing Angela's knife only affects your ending score the first time you examine it. You can keep examining it but it doesn't make any further difference after the first time.
Leave has an overheal total. If you use health items that add up to I think it's 200% of your total health, Leave gets a point on its tally.
Each ending starts with a score, and the one with the highest when you complete the game is what you'll see. Leave starts with the most, In Water the least. If you've already achieved one of the three, the other two get 1 extra point. If you've done two, the last gets 2 extra points. If two endings have the same score, it favours Leave, then Maria, then In Water, in that order.
imagine doing all of this back on PS2 when trophies weren't a thing just for the lulz. I ruined my life sigh..

There's a easy way to get through that corridor with Maria not getting hit at all where pyramid head actually goes in front of Maria and he just chases you. As soon as you walk into the room just sit there until Maria goes into her waiting around animation, as soon as she does that make a run for it and Maria will stay in the far back and pyramid head will spawn between you two. Be sure to let people know about this cause I've never seen anybody do this yet.
It's been a minute since I played Silent Hill 2, but iirc in the hallway chase you can just take off running and Maria will follow you just fine.

What do you use to voiceover youre pre edited footage?
My mic is an Electrovoice RE20, I use compression, a noise gate, eq, limiter, and if you have the money for it: iZotope RX11 Standard. I specifically use their de-click and spectral editor to get rid of any interfering frequencies and MOUTH CLICKS especially mouth clicks lmao. I also use a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface for the microphone. I hope this helps!

You know Silent Hill 2 apparently has a mechanic where if you havn't gotten an ending yet the game skews the point system so you are more likely to get an ending you don't have.
Even though you’re playing the HD collection of SH2, a alpha version of the game because Konami lost the og source code for the ps2 version, this game is still amazing on the ps3 despite it being inferior. In a few days we are likely getting a full trailer for Silent Hill 2 remake if leaks are correct.
