Hello, this is Abby Jo at Forgotten Way Farms, and today I’m taking you on an antique store tour, showing you my hauls from both antique and thrift stores. Later in the video, I will show you how I decorate with everything I bought, I get some baking done, and of course, tea time.
I love antiques and vintage items, and I believe we are history keepers when we take care and hold on to these little parts of history in our homes.

Slow living isn’t a trend for me. It's a lifestyle I have embraced for years; I learned it from my mom and grandma. We always just took our time to enjoy the beauty of the everyday. I’m a romantic at heart, with a very practical lifestyle approach “ keep it simple.” I grew up on a farm, which furthered my love of simplicity and back to the basics mindset.

The icicles look very pretty. What beautiful antique shop and how great that the owner is so generous with her knowledge. I love to browse op(thrift) shops and all I can manage is a quick peep at antique shops. There is one old wares shop hubby and I both love , its a drive away and we could both browse for hours. Its overfull, beautiful chaos. Always something new catches our attention. We both usually come home with something more practical each but love the browsing anyway. Your sitting room is coming along beautifully I really love the frame within a frame look . Thank you for sharing beautiful ❤

You produce the most beautiful videos. Thankyou for taking us shopping with you, the frame was gorgeous. I enjoyed the lovely aroma of the coffee, the rich woods in the counter and cutting boards, the sweet citris smell of the oranges, the pop of the cranberries, the sweetness of the cake and i know it tasted lovely by the smile and the way you briefly closed your eyes to take it all in.

I have "Op Shopped" since I was very young. Never liking crowded shopping centres or the cheap, throwaway items sold en masse. 4 years ago I was finally able to purchase my first home. An 1858 cottage farmhouse in semi rural South Australia. It's the best thing I did, after having my children 😊. I live with my youngest daughter who is 19 and we rescue farmed and native animals, have fruit trees and vegetables. I'm also restoring the house to how it would've been 164 years ago, and I love love LOVE finding antiques that go with that time. I'm lucky that most of the fixtures, mouldings, pressed tin ceilings are still intact. I agree, we are custodians of the past, preserving history for future generations. Thank you for a lovely upload 😊

I loved your video. My ultimate favorite thing to do is antique shop. I was blessed by my husband a trip last weekend for my birthday. For years I’ve been collecting more farmhouse country. I’m now more into the collected look and taking more of a slow approach to what I want to bring home and live with.

Was saving this video so I could watch it when I really had time to enjoy it. I am definitely a keeper of the past. Love to decorate with antiques and simple natural things. Used to love places like homegoods now I find myself getting rid of those things in favor of antique finds. I especially want to find older things to decorate with for Holidays. Just found an antique picture of a winter scene of a horse drawn carriage I love it will place it out for the winter months.Loved the frame you got also the lamp looked really nice in the kitchen. This was a perfect video antique shopping, decorating and baking all the things I love.

I buy most things thrifted,I bought some lovely Queen cotton sheets for $5 ,I got them home and found they were never used ,4 neatly folded pillowcases fell out and the fitted sheet was still factory folded,they’re so comfy ,My bedcover was thrifted and I have a nice vintage eiderdown which is so cosy ,Your cake looked delicious I bet it smelled delicious too ,I love those tea cups and saucers you had your coffee in ,

I loved Antique shopping ... We are Old Souls Abby Jo :)..I live out of Cheyenne Wyoming ..We are limited here, the Midwest ..I go to Colorado often to my favorite stores ..I do find some gems at our local Good Will store including a beautiful antique gold picture frame recently.. The feeling of excitement finding these Old World Gems .. Just like Christmas . :) The Antique Store owner Robyn a lady with a wealth of knowledge..what a lovely lady ..All part of the reason we go back to these stores ..I loved the jewelry .. Fika is a fabulous time of day .. The beautiful fresh citrus,sunshine in a box from California ..what a delight ..Liquid gold filled with vitamin C ..Enjoy Abby Jo .. I just love your videos .. I buy mostly everything thrifted. All of my wardrobe is thrifted. My 12 China sets( yes a weakness there!) Linens galore thrifted. No paper comes in my house. Writing paper, cards,because like an old fashioned gal I love the art of a hand written letter in the mail.o love seeing homes like yours curated over time and not looking like it came from the same stores everyone goes to!

My entire condo is furnished with antiques. The bed and couch were purchased from Rooms To Go. The pictures on the wall are from several local antique stores in the area along with the ones I paint myself. Two others come from an old hotel where they were having a huge sale. I absolutely love your haul and your antique shopping excursions. Waiting for more to come. Love the rose picture also. 🙂

I like to buy almost all my furniture, and all my dishes and glasses, lamps, decorative items, etc vintage or antique. The exception is artisan made things like the mug I’m drinking ginger tea from. I take her all of my leftover tissue paper, bubble wrap and packing materials, and sometimes she gives me a discount on what I buy. I love using and looking at hand made things. ❤️

I love going into Antique shops and seeing all of the beautiful items displayed, I love to buy old linens, the workmanship on these pieces are amazing. On a Saturday morning my husband and I go thrift shopping quite often, I love to bake and most of my cake pans and baking utensils have come from thrift shops. Loved going along with your thrifting adventure. I also love hand me down items from family (my parents are European) and finding used thifted items. I have been doing that for many years and rarely buy new things. I agree socks, under garments, and sheets I like new (although I have found beautiful vintage cotten pillow cases). I love these kinds of videos when we get to come along and see what you thrifted. I dont have many old cut glasses, but I do like the style. The last thing I bought home was a Libby glass with a hobstar pattern. I hope I will find some authentic ones in the future. I have my grandfather's secretaire from the 30ths. A linnen table cloth and some other small things that I thrifted.

I love your channel. I just started watching and it so resonates with me. We want to find a piece of land somewhere and have a small homestead. Its my dream. I dont need much... I love antique and vintage shops. Love finding treasure at thrift stores too. Sometimes i think about something i want or need and what it looks like and i hit a couple stores and i can usually find it. My husband took me to a thrift store for our first date. What a treat to go shopping with you and your family. Like you, I love old things. I do cross stitch and I have so many framed pieces. I say that when I die those pieces will be the first to go in the yard sale. However as a stitcher, I feel that if someone buys it for $1 and loves it and uses it in their home, then I will be happy to know it lives on. I add a lot of family genealogy to my samplers so they are special to me. Your gallery wall has me thinking of rearranging some of my pieces.

Definitely love "treasure hunting" at thrift shops, estate sales, auctions, garage sales....never know when you will find a beautifl treasur you can enjoy! PS...I love Victorian era, as well!

The look on your face when you found those Hoosier jars!! I have a small collection of those. The glass is so beautiful on the round ones 💕 Antique and vintage hauls are my favorite!! I feel like if the fabric comes up short you could make up the rest in plain denim.
I know, I was a little excited 😆 love the jars! I’m glad to hear that, I will have to make more in the future.
I would say 75% of my house holds hand me downs from Aunts, grandmother, great Grandmothers and my Mom/Dad. I absolutely love the older antique items. Just recently I have acquired new items but it’s only because we don’t really have many thrift or antique store where I live. I have to go out of town to find great thrift stores ~ Janet 🥰

I own both types of things. I have quite a few things that are antiques, and a few things bought new. The things that I bought new are good quality, like my sofa and love seat, bought from a good quality furniture company. My dining room set and my vanity, have a writing secretary desk, bookcase/ display set, that are antiques. Oh and a chest of drawers and a cabinet that goes over our writing bureau, which are antiques. I have thrifted my good china set and Royal Dalton tea pot, that are both antiques. Have had them for years, and were antiques when I thrifted.
I’ve also inherited a few things, like little espresso cups and saucers, martini glasses, salt and pepper set, and fancy dessert glasses, that I use to put ice cream in.
I do like to go antique shopping for jewellery and mirrors, which I just bought to put in my entryway.

An item in the antique store caught my eye. I believe it was a samovar turned into a lamp! Do you remember a large set of dishes that you thrifted for $30 before you moved? They had a Scandinavian or Dutch look. Did you move them with you? I loved them so much I tracked down several pieces for my home..
Yes, I think you are right! I ended up reducing my dishes and gave that set away to a friend. They are beautiful dishes, I have a weakness for dishes ❤️

Seems like the northern part of US has more really good treasures that are very hard to find down here in the south. You purchased some nice treasures. Real primitives, victorian, english and Tasha Tudor is the mixture I combine throughout my home and what I seek for in my shopping adventures. Always have my list, which is something I add too regularly. I get alot of ideas and inspiration for inside and outside my home, from youtube, as yours and magazines as A Simple Life, which is no longer being published, but I have several yrs of subscription from them that I re re read and A Primitve Place. Enjoyed going along with you shopping; the cake looks delicious, I will be trying this and what a blessing to receive the box of citrus. Thanks for sharing. In Joy
