Really nice project, ended up beautiful. Only change I would make if i make it is to eliminate the shade, which eventually will break apart because of the rain and scorching sun we have here, and substitute it for policarbonate corrugated roof panels. Obviously won't look as pretty but they will last forever and block all the rain.
Hi there, thanks for the great video. I’ve got all the materials purchased, but it’s freezing so it’s going to be a spring project 😂 can I ask how many man hours this took? Looks like it could take a week or so
Do u have the measurements as far as how far you spaced the post, and how much overhang and the support braces you cut? Great design this is exactly how I wanted to build mine. Thanks for sharing.
Normally I don't like music during instructions, but yours was good, maybe just my taste... Anyway I really like the notching idea. I'm prepping for a pergola appearance in a sloped roof so the notches would have a 10 degree slant, upping the degree of accuracy and difficulty.
Excellent work! I will be starting such a project this weekend and this was extremely helpful. Your design is very similar to what I had in mind using notched 6x6s as well as opposed to relying on just lag bolts alone to secure. Thank You! Liked and Subbed!
How far apart did you space the posts? Thats the one thing I’m trying to figure out. Trying to build something very close to this, I bought all of the wood but we are doing the posts into concrete footers because we don’t have a concrete pad.
What bolts and screws did you use, and where did you get the post bases? Those are things that vary greatly in prices I think - and I'm struggling deciding how best to balance price and appearance.
I can't exactly remember the size, but I generally use Spax wood screws. I got those and the base posts from Menards (similar to Home Depot, but only in the midwest)
Ballpark I'm guessing about $600 - $800 ish. Not bad at all. I plan on building one next summer so I'm watching videos and planning it all out. Exciting!
Nice enough job that, though here in the UK you can buy them for less than the price of making one. One technique I use when I'm notching out with the circular saw is to run the saw plate along the edge of the speed square, thereby creating a nice straight 90 degree cut. As for the posts Mariano commented they'll be fine as their mostly under compression, assuming you tie back the curtains come any big wind! Better than concreating them in were they rot off in 8-10 years.
Thanks for watching. Hopefully the concrete brackets are enough. We'll find out after the winter. I'm not super concerned about it, but in an ideal world I would have anchored the posts in concrete columns.
I plan on building almost exactly this style. I want to put it on a 12x28 patio slab, using 8 posts (6x6) and 2x10 main cross beams. I was thinking of using 2x8's for the rafters, then 2x4's for the tops. The spans between posts won't be much more than on yours, so perhaps I can get away with 2x8 main cross beams and 2s6's for the rafters, as you did. This would save a bunch of money!
Very nice! That's a big pergola! I'm planning on building one myself except mine will be 30x10 and 12x10 because it goes around a corner (an extension of my front porch to make it wrap around) so it's going to be a huge project but I'm confident I can do it myself. I've been watching a lot of videos to get an idea of what style I like, etc. Good luck on your project!
It looks like this is your lumber list, right? 4-6x6 posts, 4-2x6 support beams, 4-2x6 cross supports, 9-2x6 beams, 10-2x4 purlins? plus your 2x6 diag supports, brackets, deck screws and nails
Nice job and you had me until you did the top shade and curtains. Better imo is use 2x or similar top cross slats closely spaced then install sun shade on top of that (nails or screw with washer thru grommet holes ). Who wants to look at an ugly shade cloth?... Rollup sun shade with crank handle for sidewall (s) works perfect.
Curtains are a neat touch, but they wouldn't last 5 minutes on my backyard. I swear I could do a standing take off, in a hang glider, from my patio. lol
Beautiful thk. For you video now i going to build one thk to you encourage. God bless you
I can't find where to get the material list. Please provide instructions how/where to get it. Thank You
Very nice, Henry!

You are the best
Very nice, love it and hope u enjoy!!!🎉🎉🎉

I believe it's an 8' x 10' rectangle
18’ is too long
10’ is too tight for a car
Hi great Video going build one of my own. What are the Dims between each post?
Thanks
Great work! Looks amazing
I need to hire you, seriously.
Excelente

Awesome video thank you
Thanks Gloria!
Transparent privacy curtains?
How much would you estimate you spent on lumber and hardware without taking into account tools and pergola accessories?

❤I enjoy drying wood but I don’t like to stain

No satisfied feeling for building
What size is the post bro
Great vid
I always use 8 x 8 red cedar, cut at a personal sawmill at a much cheaper price.
Do you take the sheer curtains off during rain? Or do they stay permanently?
I just take them off for the winter
Wicked nice.
Great build. Not sure about those potted plants though. Lol
So will this be about a 8 X 10 Pergola space? Your concrete looks about 3.5" deep. Is one hole bracket good enough?
Excellent job between. So meticulous and very good.
Thanks for watching. Hopefully the concrete brackets are enough. We'll find out after the winter. I'm not super concerned about it, but in an ideal world I would have anchored the posts in concrete columns.
I use screws for everything except when lag bolts are needed.
Looks like you've played Jenga
What is the point of the top perlin layer? Could you not have it without that?
Hi Nate, you definitely could do it without the top purlin layer. It's purely aesthetic and maybe adds a little bit extra shade. Thanks for watching!
So he can grow a wisteria, grapes and watermelons on it ;)

did you not pressure treat/cut and seal your cuts??
Guess not. Oops
How would you do that?
@@tracy419 you go buy some cut and seal liquid sealer

Also, this is a great video. Very well done and I like your attention to detail. I'll remember to stain before assembly.
This is all correct except the support beams and cross supports are 2 x 8. Thanks for watching!
This video brought to you by Milwaukee Tools it would seem!

As you know, pt dust is also poison ❤
its 8x8 in size

Way too much wood ok in a hurricane
God squad have to stick their oar in don’t they.
Looks good but the privacy shades ain't it lol
I DO NOT TRUST YOU!
That's smart, Brian. I wouldn't either.
I just got sick in my mouth 🤢
Feel better soon!
@@blackcoffeebuilds9191 thanks bro! 😂
