As a Canadian, 100% agree with Lalas, i.e., that the heads of CanWNT have hugely embarrassed themselves and the country. If punishment beyond what has already been self-imposed is delved out, I would be in favour of it.
I can’t believe the coaching staff weren’t fully aware of it. Theres no way those two players would have done it without getting the nod from the coach.
@@lucashouse9117yeah and as good as these guys are right now they still haven’t done anything. I will admit it’s been mainly Greggy’s fault but we’ll see with a new coach.
CanWNT may not have needed that drone for the NZ match, but that doesnt mean they wouldnt have used it again against the better teams theyll face. ffs it seems like theres cheating everywhere nowadays. sickening.
I think Hayes is right to pierce that anything is a given. I suspect she rightly expects to win but you don’t get it by just walking on the pitch with the USA crest. Can’t complain about entitlement in one circumstance and then say you’re lowering expectations to say the world has caught up. Make the players earn a spot on the roster, earn their wins.
If Emma Hayes took a job with $1.6 million salary. If she thinks that comes without expectations, she can back home now. The US is still the most talented team at the Olympics with the deepest talent pool by far, and the literal betting favorite for gold. If you fall short, there are consequences. This isn't the men's team. It is like every other gold medal favorite the US sends to the Olympics.
I’m a non-soccer person, 60, who started watching with the 2008 WC, and then bought season tickets to Orlando City in 2014. I’ve grown to love the game. The time thing continues to annoys me. I get it that we cannot change the game for when people fall down and such. And also not for the ball out of bounds or even corner kicks. However, it is VERY EASY to stop the clock on a goal score, on an injury where the doctors come on the pitch, or on VAR check. There is a clear “whistle start” after each. This doesn’t end “stoppage time” as you’d still have 1-3 minutes of extra time, per soccer history. But there would be little need for the super long time added on.
The biggest problem is the flopping. It’s such a big part of the game. They used to give cards for faking penalty fouls but they need to ban the player that flops, only way to completely get rid of it.
@@RickyRicardo84Most players make sure theres some contact before they go down even if they’re looking for it which then makes it very hard to work out whether it was a dive or a genuine foul. A lot of players are very good at it and with VAR they know not to dive without some contact. You definitely can’t be banning players for it. Thats just crazy. Its just part of the game. Personally, I quite like seeing players who good at the dark arts. Yes its gamesmanship, but theres a skill to it.
LaLas, if you had read the rest of Freddy Adu's quote he says he was lucky that someone saw him and he was sponsored. That players like Messi, if they had grown up in the US may not have been given opportunities because of his size.
The U.S. team played well, just made typical mistakes from lack of experience. They had the same problems as the U-20 World Cup team from 2013 with the 4-1 loss to Spain. It's the goalkeeping. The biggest difference between NCAA D-1 soccer and top European pro leagues are the goalies. Top pro goalies are freak athletes with spring in their legs. The U.S. goalie had the right upper body technique, just no spring in the legs. Save in the first half shown in the NBC highlights didn't look like a save, it looked like he was trying to play a game of catch.
MLS is using measured time by an off-field official now to calculate extra time, I believe. As soon as play stops they start counting, as soon as it starts again, they stop it.
Tbf to the US the team didn’t play too badly against France. Henry made a few tweaks for the second half and the team with the greater depth of quality ended up winning. You guys created some good chances, but failed to put them away unlike the French.
In response to the Zimmerman comment, it is like this, he played in a World Cup in ‘22. He played with the highest caliber players the world. Now you put him on an Olympic team with players who as Lex mentioned most likely will not be on the USMNT in ‘26. That being said can only be looked at as a demotion.
Okay. Who am I? Nobody, really. I played in high school in Upstate New York, made All Region, one-year in college...like thousands of other guys. But, I have an opinion concerning the country, and game, I love. I think Tab Ramos should be the next USMNT coach. He already coaches the U-20 team. Any "Yeas"?
Frankly i feel like we did well until the 70th min. Subs should have been made but weren't because we had two near goals. Once the goals weren't scored the team absolutely collapsed mentally and then the subs that were made simply compounded the mental collapse.
HEy Alexi, what Emma tells the press ain't necessarily what she is telling the team. i'm sure she is demanding that the women get to the Gold Medal game at least. I don't think Emma is laying the groundwork for a less than acceptable result at the Olympics, regardless what you think the message in this quote means. Frankly, I'm think you are just trying to posture that you are "tough on Emma". How about asking if the attacking trio of Smith-Rodman-Swanson is really going to work? I mean I would like it to work, but we are still waiting for it to work. Maybe it doesn't work. Give us your insight on THAT.
Emma is setting expectation based on the limited time she’s had with the team. They have only had four games with her on the sideline so of course she wants to lower expectations.
The womens coach has it in her contract that she’s paid as much as the mens. That as much as I know. Thats why you were never realistically getting an elite coach like Klopp. If he’d agreed to take the job he’d probably want somewhere around $15/20m pa which would then have to be doubled for the womens coach.
There is no pay situation, the above comment is inaccurate. It’s a rumor that has been debunked. There is no formal rule and the salaries are not connected.
Hey guys, no one cares about women’s soccer and real sports fans don’t really take it seriously. Focusing solely on US men’s soccer would probably help grow this channel, IMO
@@RickyRicardo84 I don't disagree I just scapegoating MLS for this one is incorrect. Me
hopefully we have some surprising games, i remember how fun it was when we won gold in curling and everyone was super invested into it around then
