Stayed at Intercontinental Robertson Quay. Room size is similar to the Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay (meaning quite small). Pool area was quite small and disappointing. Service, however, is outstanding, but you’d expect that at an IC hotel. Have also stayed at Indigo in Katong. It’s a very nice hotel. But even in the IHG family of hotels, these two pale in comparison to the Intercontinental in the Bugis area. The rooms there are very nicely sized, the pool area is pretty nice (though the pool is pretty cool) and service is outstanding. I’d also rate the Crowne Plaza at Changi better than the IC Robertson Quay. Away from the IHG family, we’ve stayed at the Pan Pacific near Marina Square. Great rooms, great views, great service and an enormous pool area.
Marina Bay Sands, Fullerton, Four Seasons, Shangri-La, Mandarin Oriental. each of them repeatedly recognised being the best. but not by you! you couldn't effort them!

I know this a best 12 luxury hotel in Singapore, but my favorite "budget hotel" is 30 Bencoolen.
