You know what is even better? Not buying it right now, and waiting for a sale. U will still reward their creativity, and you will teach them to not call $60 for half finished product.
Just the simple fact this game has been delayed multiple times yet a 20 person team managed to release and finish the game during a pandemic makes me want to support their game with more reason. I really hope they release a day 1 patch to address these issues and this game* becomes a huge success!
@@hexen4935 No, it's $60 for the standard game. If you want the atomic or Collector's Editions then obviously it's going to be more. If you feel they're being greedy, then that's cool man. That's your own opinion which you are entitled to. ✌️
I think I’m still going to buy it. I had a strong feeling it was going to be meh. I assumed tge story/writing/choices would be lackluster, but I’m interested in the world, gameplay, gear. Sometimes i have more fun with a meh 7/10 than a 9/10 tbh. It just seemed to tick some boxes that will make me overlook the janky stuff.
This is how I feel as well. I never thought this game was gonna be a goty contender but it just looks like a cool game that I can explore. I'm heavy on the loot/crafting games and I pick up everything so I'm more excited for that than anything else.
I feel the same way, I have gamepass recently downloaded rage 2 doesn’t have great reviews probably for a lot of the same reasons this one won’t, but I like the game a lot, I’m still gonna cop bio mutant 👍
This game doesn't seem to be for everyone, but it's screaming at me and I will answer that call when it unlocks tomorrow. I love weird stuff and this game looks weird.
@@joejackson7140 tbh man im still going to pick it up at full price to support the development team. Its super ambitious for a team of 20 peope. Made props.
Well that's the thing, I admired the developer's radio silence in the midst of all the bluster we typically get from game companies. But apparently there was a reason for that.
I feel like this would have been better received if it were a 40 dollar steam game you forgot about in your queue. Then you could be pleasantly surprised.
It's funny because in Canada the price tag for this game is 59.99$ CAD, while games are usually 79.99$ and now 89.99$ so for us the 60$ price tag is actually low.
@H.P Lovecraft Why are you talking like you represent all the people who anticipated this game? Guess what, there are people in that crowd who are disappointed too.
I mean, this game has been getting eviscerated by early reviews, so I don't know why props would be due just based on team size. Valheim was a 5 person team, and was only $20, critically acclaimed. Outer Wilds was a 20 person team, was only $25, also critically acclaimed. If you're charging $60, it doesn't matter the size of your team, you have to deliver a title as good as any other studio using that price point. That's nothing against these devs, I wish them much future success, but it sounds like they had a major problem with scope creep. Makes me sad too, I've been looking forward to this game for a long while.
@@chuckchuckerson5364 that doesn't take away the fact that they can get props on team size. I get it that u see the game being destroyed by early reviews, and that gives you pause at the prospect of liking it, but people can give it props on whatever they want. The person didn't say 10/10, or game of the year, they simply said: "wow 20 people team, props to them"... it's ok to give props on talent where and when it's due. Your opinions are yours, that's it.
@@icealchemist250 You are correct, people can have whatever opinion they'd like, this includes me. It is my opinion that the size of the team is not prop worthy, especially when the product is bad. I shared my opinion, and you can disagree 😁. I think it's even less prop worthy for the other reasons I stated as well. I feel the game is overpriced, and we have seen studios of similar size, and much smaller create games of much higher quality.
@@chuckchuckerson5364 thats why you go and get it for cheaper on pc, got my copy for 46 and I think thats well worth the money regardless of a couple glitches and no aim lock.
I continue to tell all my friends that this is the right place for honest reviews. You, ACG and Worth a But are my go to for when I am wondering if I should get a game full price, wait for a sale, or throw it in the trash. I wish this game was worth full price, I was so ready to get it. Hopefully in 2-3 months it will be at the $30-$40 price point and pick it up. However, good job for the devs, they pulled off a better job than many triple A studios, so let's see how their next release will look like!
I have a theory that the dev team played a smart move on their part with regards to release. Its a really good alpha. I imagine they are banking on the live service update schedule. The bones are here, they just gotta keep adding. Updates with audio, combat, etc. I don't know what engine this is on but It looks good and i assume they could navigate it. Perhaps with it on the market a money boost could help development and perhaps extra devs.
Yeah I'm conflicted tbh. ACG said wait for a sale, while WaB actually liked the game. You can buy the game for about $45 on Green Man Gaming until tomorrow.
Lol Worth a buy should not be getting the attention. He literally put together a review of mass effect legendary edition after playing a maximum of 4 hours, never played 1 of the 3 games and and clearly stated it was not a review of the game but instead the remaster itself but proceeded to review the game.
Ima be honest. With most of the Triple A games at 60-100 recently, being clearly unfinished or live service (another way to say unfinished). I think it's unfair to compare like that. Biomutant is full retail price but everyone is saying its at least a finished product.
That's a low bar you're setting. It's "at least a finished product" so they deserve my praise? Games are supposed to be finished at launch. You can't compare them to the unfinished AAA games no matter how numerous. You have to compare them with the finished ones, if it, like those, are also finished.
@@BasedNate You can compare them because no game should release unfinished. If it isn't finished don't release it. I've also got a low standard because that's all we consumers have been receiving lately. With how many games release there are not that many which stand out nowadays. Compared to how many could have stood out.
@@ActuallyAcce you can compare it sure, but if you compare it to the worse of the $60 price point, of course it will seem like a great purchase. But if you compare it to the GoW, BotW, HZD of the $60 price point (the quality games at the price point *should* be) then you see the scales tip less in its favor.
@@ActuallyAcce If this were the case, no game would ever be released. And that's not limited to just game dev. Any creative medium deals with the same issue.
Yeah I think i’m going to get this still, it just is too stylish for me and I love seeing devs taking risks so i’m going to support it. Plus i’ve been wanting a new open world action game. I also have the money to spend.
I'm probably in the minority thinking this, but I see a lot of complaints about how "empty" the world is. That's how I felt about Breath of the Wild. Oh so beautiful but oh so empty, with scattered enemies here and there and far and between "dungeons". Still enjoyed it, so I'm sure I'll dig Biomutant too. Anyway, I'll support the dev team no matter what.
@@a.m.4049 That's what I was going to post, yeah. There's a difference between a game with a 30-something years old classic VG brand and a new IP made by 20 people. BotW had many devs, you think? And *still* the world was empty. Biomutant in mindboggling in that fashion, IMO. It comes short in a few areas but the scope is incredible.
Breath of the Wild was incredibly boring, and empty. I've not been able to finish it. The food, the weapon degradation were bad enough. But that empty, huge, open world was the deal breaker. I prefer the older Zelda games. And no, climbing does not add to the enjoyment. Especially when rain is all but guaranteed everytime you climb.
not realy. more workers means more management, less money for the actual product. not to mention some workers would rather do nothing and surf the internet instead of actually work. they should just improve the focus on the gameplay, right now it looks like Warframe, so many game play styles but no actual depth.
This is the sort of game that the adult in me is given pause by it’s flaws, but the kid in me absolutely loves the concept and it’s something I would have imagined when I was younger. One of the small joys of being an adult is that I have the funds to embrace my inner child again 🙂. Great review as always Matty, thank you for the content dude. I hope the rest of the community are all safe and well, and enjoy the game if they get it.
Thanks Matty for the honest review. You are my favorite RPG You Tuber. I never expected this game to be a 10 out of 10 game and should cost more in the region of 40 bucks. I want to experience it myself and support the devs. I think I am the only person who likes the "Ubisoft Formula". I love running around grinding side content (I explored everything in AC Valhalla and Odessey) with a podcast or something on my second pc screen. It´s relaxing for me. As long it´s open world, sp and an rpg with loot I can have fun with it. Greedfall, Elex or Risen for example are games I really enjoyed even if a lot of reviewers criticize them.
I'm still getting it day one, even with the flaws it seems like it will be a special game. I also feel supporting them now will possibly get a second one with any of the flaws fixed.
Pretty good review and I agree with a lot of your points. Personally I’ve absolutely enjoyed my play through, even with the things the game doesn’t nail down 100%. I hope we see more from this group of devs with possibly more devs on staff and more resources to create something truly incredible that draws in the casual and hardcore gamers alike.
After 5 hrs of gameplay I’m loving it. Story is fairly intriguing. Reminds me of Little Big Planet. I’m really in it for the combat and so far it’s delivered
This is clearly an indie game, similar to No Mans Sky. Yet they charge full AAA price for this? Nah ill wait for this to drop to the $30-$40 range. I hate it when companies do this shit. They charge $60, but they want to be measured against and treated as indies. In this case, we are constantly being reminded that this game was made by a team of only 20 odd people. The bottom line is if you wanna charge full price, then you have to contend with the other AAA titles out there, and in that regard this game falls woefully short in my opinion.
You want a game with real interesting unique characters yeah red dead redemption 2 huge open world that's filled with life and the missions Jesus Christ is amazing bruh biomuntant is a pile of dogshit next to red dead redemption 2
Biomutant is my GOTY. Great combat that is a 3D version of KOA. I don't know how you can't love this game. Plus the world is huge. If you like just wandering around exploring in an rpg, this is your game. Plus the best loot system ever and it fixes the open world problem of tackling any boss at any time well. Just a AAA from a AA studio of ten people. For $40 you can't go wrong.
Rather odd that some reviewers say the world is empty of enemies and others say that there a whole lot. Also I like that there is NO lock on. Lock on definitely knocks immersion. Nice review!
I’m still buying this to support the team, it kind of has a beyond good&evil/ psychonauts “it’ll be a cult classic soon” vibe to me and I want to reward teams making outside the box projects.
Yea I agree this is a major case of the publisher jacking the price probably assuming the furry animals would sale the game at the end of the day it's an indie game and should be priced as such reminds me of We Happy Few
I think calling a game a "hidden gem" before saying that we should wait for a sale is confusing. It seems like you didn't like the game but you appreciate the effort put forth in making the game. I think that's a valid stance however I would have liked to hear more of your unfiltered opinion pertaining to how much FUN the game was for you. Also, I've heard others say the no lock on wasn't a big deal. I'm not sure where I'd stand with that.
I agree with you there that the price point does factor into it regardless of the team size but, I think even more than the price point or the team size is experience. How many games has this company made? If they'd made several and they're all kind of crappy it seems like maybe they've hit their threshold and that's that. But if this is one of their first games and they've done more than you would expect for a company of their age and size to do then maybe an investment factor is important to consider because if you buy this game they get more money they can hire more people and then expand what they do.
That's how I'm feeling. I don't think I'm gonna be disappointed if I buy this, and I can afford it, so I'm thiiinking about buying it anyways but I'm not sure
@@miniclip13sa well it's personal choice that's most important but one of the key barometers I like to use for buying a game is can I get $1 an hour out of this game. So games like this where there's different builds and lots of replayability shouldn't have to worry about it. If I look at a game and I can't see myself replaying it enough times to get that value that's typically when I'll wait for it to go on sale until it reaches that threshold for me. I do the same with movies if I can't watch it a couple of times to hit that Mark I typically don't buy it till it goes down
@@miniclip13sa One thing I am thinking after watching these reviews is how different of an experience I can have compared to their; they are playing the game to review it I can play the game to have a great experience. Who knows I might not get what I want from it but I think I know myself well enough to say I will have a good time.
@@jeremyalexander135 I agree dude. I just think in granted excuse me if I'm incorrect I haven't done a lot of research on the game studio making this, that's experience does play an important role, the first Mass effect had its issues but there was improvement I mean we won't get into that whole debuggle of what happened to that studio after it was acquired. The point being I can be more forgiving for a less polished game if it's a newer studio because there is room for improvement now if the next game comes out and they've made no improvement and it's still great with a lot of flaws but I can tell they didn't really make strides anywhere then that's a clear indicator that this company's probably going to continue to produce products of this quality. I am willing to pay a little more money for a good but flawed game because I'm excited to see what they would produce next.
@@jeremyalexander135 I disagree. I know if I was in that position my goals would far exceed my capability, that is who I am I have so many ideas. I am glad they put a lot of systems in even if all of them aren't that complex because of it.
Just beat the game, it's got a lot of issues with pacing but the exploration, crafting, customization, and worldbuilding were enough to keep me engaged till the end. I went into this game expecting a cheap BOTW clone and was pleasantly surprised.
Lol you can review games and enjoy them aswell but if it's not an enjoyable experience you gotta say that aswell you're just mad about skill ups review right lol what he said was true men
More BioMutant vids! Loving this game and the videos we are all making for it. X101 just needs to keep polishing, updating, expanding BioMutant and we will keep playing and watching. Massive replay ability for BioMutant! Well done for a team of 17!
I think all the signs were there that it might be a “little underwhelming” release when it popped up again after many years of silence. But it definitely had potential and I actually quite like the idea narration and I think there’s couple games that have done it well before (Stanley parable) and hopefully someone does it again too. Also I don’t know if small dev team is a good excuse when we have seen so many awesome games by small teams or done by just one person. Small developers just have to know their limits and try to keep their focus.
This game is so, so so much fun! please inform the developers MANY people love their work and see the beautiful craftmanship that is incredibly evident within this game. 10/10. Love it! In fact, I can't wait to jump back in; I have forced myself away from it to show support in the face of the hastely over-critical and inaccurate TH-camr view(s). Bravo Experiment 101 ^_^
Playing this game make me feels like I'm back on my old ps2,so many different companies use to release their own third person games each with their own flavour and approach, this may not be a 8 or 10 but is still a fun experience on it's own.
If people are going to forgive some of the criticism because it was a small team that developed the game. Then I think it's only fair to criticize its $60 price tag. If this was a $40 game, I bet there would be more praise.
Fr its cool it was a small team but if the game just sucks but looks pretty is no reason to buy. I wanted to play this so bad but now I will not even buy it. No way I am paying full price for this half baked game. I will wait till it is like 5 or 10 bucks on in a couple years.
You could argue that they needed it to be that high to recoup 4 years of development otherwise there was no point. in reality the publisher sets the price anyway not them.
Unfortunately, as with most new games these days, the day of release is really the first day of the real open beta whereas to see the real, complete, polished, etc, game you have to wait a year or 2 for a whole lot of patches and a bunch of DLCs to come out. Personally I stopped buying new games, any new game, for this very reason and am waiting for at the very least 50%, often 75% sales before buying new games because that's where I'll finally be able to experience the game as it was meant to be experienced. The question for this game, like any other, is how it will hold up a year or 2 from now and whether it will be fixed up to a point where it'll be a worthy experience than.
I was so excited for this game. Love the world. Played it a lot once released. It’s fun, it’s just the combat and interactions feel shallow and weightless. Which is surprising consider how deep their systems are.
I'm ok with the full price. I'm having fun with the game and as Matty I'm also going full dark side. The only part that bothers me of the game is the lil sign 'star sign' that tells me I need to check the inventory. I go and alrdy saw it but if keeps telling me I have to check it. And is always the quest material.
I'll wishlist it on Steam, but that price tag at the moment feels far too expensive for what the game sounds like. I get it's a small team and they need to make their money back on what could be a niche game, but it does seem like they should have aimed for a smaller profit margin.
Just bought it full price! Looks like some fun to me. Good exploration and creative ideas. 🙂 Please reward creativity, or we will all be sad when it’s gone because it’s not profitable. A very sad reality.
Well done on this review! Looked at most aspects and provided a well rounded perspective instead of forcing perspective. You have my respect, earned a sub, like, and I look forward to more! Ding 🛎!!
Great review. I've been mildly excited about this game lately, and this video hasn't changed that. I'm willing to except some jank from a tiny studio. We pay that and more for jank from teams that should be better.
I think this is going to be one of the best game of 2021.I dont give a shit about bad reviews , because I love this world , and the gameplay is so good. This game is so unique
A buddy of mine got this and we hung out and kinda traded off a bit for like 8 or so hours and I gotta say... this thing should have been on gamepass. I hate to hark on that but IMHO if there was ever a game that FUCKED UP by not trying to negotiate a deal with Xbox and gamepass, it is Biomutant.
I don't get it, it looks so good. seems like what I am seeing and the reviews just don't match. that said, his main complaint being he wants combat to be lock on based means I disagree completely. I don't like lock-on mechanics, takes any fun or skill away IMO.
Visuals aren't everything. Basically what they are saying it's good for a 20 man dev team but not worth the $60 price tag. It's a good but shallow experience.
@@thesetzers8952 I'm not suggesting you not like what you see. At the end of the day people have different taste. That said I do believe I answered your question still. The general consensus amongst reviewers is that it's a "good but shallow experience" aka an indie title with a triple A price tag. That's why the reviews are more "meh" in nature. If they'd have gone a more indie price, people would probably be more lenient.
@@jeremyalexander135 Not sure what part has you guys thinking I am talking about visuals only. The visuals are nice, but I can look at someone playing and generally tell more about the game than just visuals, I guess that is not a skill you guys have maybe? My struggle is he didn't really point out many negative things specifically, more generally just said something wasn't right, (which I get) and what I see all looks good. (combat, visuals, choice trees, visuals, customization, traversal, etc) Also, I know what people are saying, but none of them seem to state it clearly, just that it feels like a cheaper title. But the gameplay looks solid on screen, so just saying the 2 don't seem to match.
@@thesetzers8952 "cheaper title" typically comes through to me as poor visuals or audio. The visuals sure as hell don't look awful, so it makes me wonder with the sound. But this game looks like gameplay is gonna be it's deciding factor: do you love the way it play? Then you'll love the game
You're saying the exact opposite of Cowboy and ACG, with variety, and amount of combat. They said it's all the same handful of combos, and the world had very little combat.
I've brought it, I don't care if it is a bit rough. It is good to have a new IP and not a rehash of an existing proven IP (as all of the major publishers want to keep doing).
Any game that locks an entire gameplay class behind a preorder bonus earns my skepticism from the start. Seems fitting that the game didn't deliver on its promises. That said, there's a lot of potential here. I hope they stick with it and make the game feel more alive.
Their classes are weird. They aren't really classes. It's like a loadout. The classes basically just decide your starting perks. So that preorder class is basically just starting with specific perks. You can get those perks later in the game without preorder.
@@jonny555333 I think that makes it weirder tbh. Why would anyone pay for a class they can build themselves? Either way, I don't think I've ever seen currency gating in a core RPG mechanic like that. Bonuses are usually just cosmetics or weapons.
@@MylordkronosRBLX but you're not? Preorders are not more expensive than if you bought it the day it released. And I'm not even trying to defend the game. I just think the preorder bonus is the last thing to complain about. The game has WAY bigger issues than that.
@@jonny555333 The game may have bigger issues but you chose to focus on this. So let me explain myself. You're right, it's not more expensive to preorder. Rather, the added cost is in the assumed risk that preordering carries--you're essentially gambling on the quality of a game. I'll spare you my extended thoughts on why preordering is a shitty business strategy because it's not my original point. I'm only just trying to say that I've never seen this type of reward that walls off a section of the character creator. For a game that made its character creator its biggest marketing point, that's bizarre. I don't even really see it as a complaint. Just something worth questioning.
@@MylordkronosRBLX I've seen plenty of games do this. Not that it's a good thing but it's pretty common. And as I said before, there are basically no classes in this game. The classes just decide what gear and perks you start out with. After that, you can spec into whatever you want.
Sounds like the dev team can tweak a few things with some updates. Refine the gameplay elements that don't work as good as they should/could. Honestly thought this game might be vaporware.
These days reviewers and general population has been spoiled by triple A experiences that they almost always expect the same level each time. They need to lower their standards. Double A and indie devs deserve more love and respect. They really dont get that much. I plan on supporting the devs of this game and will be ordering my copy off amazon later today. Ive been watching alot of people react and review this game with only a small portion of people saying to give this game a chance. Id rather listen to them over ign or some other overrated reviewers opinion. Im gonna give it a shot myself. Im my own critic.
Matty, I know this is off topic but kinda on the topic of avalanche studios having developed this game. Have you noticed the bugs in rage 2 were never flattened out and that Bethesda refuses to get the game patched? I would mind seeing a video centered around Bethesda's lack of support on some of there titles that haven't sold quite as well.
This looks fantastic, sucks to see reviewers tearing apart another game. Maybe as kerrak said i must be a ZEN gamer lmfao. Gotta love all the negative comments tho, yall have nothing better to do than wait for every release to troll on games 😂
Why does it such to see others having a different opinion? Do you mean it sucks for people who want to like the game, but only play games based on certain reviewers or general opinion instead of doing what interests them? Or does it suck for those who like the game, but find it hard to reconcile with others different or negative opinions about something they like? Keep in mind this is a 60$ product and some people enjoy seeing both positives and negatives from multiple sources so they can make a more informed purchase.
Your opinion matched up with mine, Matty. I will wait for a sale. I mean I want to support them, because the concept and idea is awesome and I want to see them expand on it in the future.
I was gonna drop 32.99 on cd keys, but mass effect legendary edition got the goods for 28.00, I'm sure I won't be disappointed, may still get this when the price drops
I bought it at full price like an hour before watching this. Still excited to try it out and see how devs update it. I MIGHT just wait for some major updates before jumping in while I play Mass Effect
Boyfriend preordered, still psyched, and I'll definitely get it too, but not on release day. That's due to issues with my hands right now though. Can't play an action game right now. I was hyped for this game years ago. Then assumed it was dead. Then it actually got a release date and I was kinda wary... So I'm not surprised it's not quite as amazing as we all had hoped. I had no idea the team was so small. So that makes sense. I want to support small studios and creative ideas. So I might buy it full price even if I won't get around to playing it for months.
I actually went to go buy the game but I stopped when I noticed the price. I'm conscious it was made by a smaller team which is 100% fine, but surely the savings on production as a result should translate to a lower asking price? It's a bit of a shame that the publisher went for this as this game sounds like a bit of a passion project but naturally fewer people are going to be playing until there's a discount
Matty, Matty, Matty! A sterling review, Sir, but why didn't you address the lack of voice acting (as your buddy, Skill-Up) so accurately pointed out? That said, I'll wait for a summer sale.

Well that's the thing, I admired the developer's radio silence in the midst of all the bluster we typically get from game companies. But apparently there was a reason for that.
Looks amazing
It actually sucks
I feel like this would have been better received if it were a 40 dollar steam game you forgot about in your queue. Then you could be pleasantly surprised.
Yea but as well all know publishers set the prices and THQ chose 60$
Yea I would probably pick it up on the summer sale if it was cheeper but at $60 even on sale I just can't justify it
20$ at most
It's funny because in Canada the price tag for this game is 59.99$ CAD, while games are usually 79.99$ and now 89.99$ so for us the 60$ price tag is actually low.
At $40 this game with its flaws would be a no brainer. However at $60 its a hard sale. O' well maybe after so patches.
It was $100 where i am lol
It's 77 dollars equivalent in the uk....
I could agree there when the budget isn't anywhere near what a AAA game has.
@H.P Lovecraft Clearly not everyone who's playing it, it's not doing well in reviews by players or game journalists at all.
@H.P Lovecraft Why are you talking like you represent all the people who anticipated this game? Guess what, there are people in that crowd who are disappointed too.
TWENTY-person team??? I did not know that. Mad props.
I recall them saying they expanded to like 80. They started at 20, but they ended up growing the team as the scope grew.
@@chuckchuckerson5364 thats why you go and get it for cheaper on pc, got my copy for 46 and I think thats well worth the money regardless of a couple glitches and no aim lock.
im still gonna buy it :) i would love to support the devs hopefully a physical copy
A 20 person team made this game. For such a small team they have done great work.
Can’t wait to go home and play it on the Series X now

I'm having a great time with it.
@@BasedNate I agree.
But this wasn't spoken on during the review. So I offered the opposite in the comments.
Yea except BoTW has been generally accepted as an incredible game. Biomutant has been quite the opposite
@@SadLoserCanjuju it also gets the Zelda brand bump in ppl's value of the game.
And in BOTW the ability to climb 99% of surfaces is an added layer of interaction that makes the exploration vastly more interesting.
Hopefully it lands on gamepass someday. Id absolutely play it if that were the case.

The narration is like fable during gameplay, this game is like mix fable , Zelda breathe of the wild and monster hunter.

All those games are better then this
Thanks Matty for the honest review.
Might get it on a sale. Was eyeing it for a week but full price...
Feel like it should of been released with a $40 price tag. Looks cool as hell
I'm still getting it day one, even with the flaws it seems like it will be a special game. I also feel supporting them now will possibly get a second one with any of the flaws fixed.
This game has so much charm and love. I'm getting it and loving no matter how many negative reviews.
Excellent game especially compared to half baked AAA titles like cyber punk. We should all be appreciative for how fun it is! And it actually works!

It's not their fault that their Publishers are greedy and that's basically what you're saying how sad.
And in a couple off years people are starting a petition crying for a part 2 because they were cheapskates and bought it in a sale or 2nd hand....
on one hand, I've been looking forward to buying this game on my birthday for months, but on the other, I could just get Red Dead Redemption 2
If you haven't played it yet, RDR2 for sure

You want a game with real interesting unique characters yeah red dead redemption 2 huge open world that's filled with life and the missions Jesus Christ is amazing bruh biomuntant is a pile of dogshit next to red dead redemption 2
That title is spot on for me. Sounds like a game I would love but it isn't appealing to me. Haven't tried it tho so we'll see
Biomutant is my GOTY.
Well it looks like I’m buying around 20-30 bucks.

I'm not sure where I'd stand with that.
the sound captions in the game when you're fighting enemies are so fun and give off subtle retro gaming vibes..
I'm not sure what underwhelming is nowadays if it's fun and not a buggy mess that's a success to me
I agree with you there that the price point does factor into it regardless of the team size but, I think even more than the price point or the team size is experience.

Just bought it for my PS5 today for $14.99. I'm about to play as soon as it finishes installing.
I'll wishlist it on Steam, but that price tag at the moment feels far too expensive for what the game sounds like. I get it's a small team and they need to make their money back on what could be a niche game, but it does seem like they should have aimed for a smaller profit margin.
Matty, you are everywhere right now man! Not sick of seeing you yet ,so you must be doing something right.

Great review. I've been mildly excited about this game lately, and this video hasn't changed that. I'm willing to except some jank from a tiny studio. We pay that and more for jank from teams that should be better.

Agree that this game’s treasure is found through a little bit of digging, experimenting, and time.
@@Alacod19 I am not referring to the visuals, though visually it looks pretty good.
(combat, visuals, choice trees, visuals, customization, traversal, etc)
Also, I know what people are saying, but none of them seem to state it clearly, just that it feels like a cheaper title.
Great and very fair review and actually sort of what I expected.

You're saying the exact opposite of Cowboy and ACG, with variety, and amount of combat. They said it's all the same handful of combos, and the world had very little combat.
Thank you for the review, I was really curious on how this game was. I'll most likely wait for a sale like you said.
I've brought it, I don't care if it is a bit rough. It is good to have a new IP and not a rehash of an existing proven IP (as all of the major publishers want to keep doing).
The divisive reviews and potential this game seems to have makes me even more intrigued to play it, to see what I myself think of it.
This game is fun, quirky and cute and unlike most games this year is actually enjoyable
I’m excited for the game and everything special about it, but I wish they took a less-is-more approach and polished the characterization

@@DontEvenTripDawg0451 People don't like when others opinion(s) don't line up with theirs and label them as "trolls" to cope.
@@DontEvenTripDawg0451 while I agree with everything you said I do feel like people expect every game to blow their minds and check so many boxes.
So it's basically the Redwall series set in the Fallout universe?
Your opinion matched up with mine, Matty. I will wait for a sale. I mean I want to support them, because the concept and idea is awesome and I want to see them expand on it in the future.
I was gonna drop 32.99 on cd keys, but mass effect legendary edition got the goods for 28.00, I'm sure I won't be disappointed, may still get this when the price drops
I bought it at full price like an hour before watching this. Still excited to try it out and see how devs update it.
I MIGHT just wait for some major updates before jumping in while I play Mass Effect
bruh just play the goddamm game i playing right now and its feel fantastic
Thanks for the heads up! Interested and will def wait for a sale👍🏼
Thanks for this fantastic review. You convinced me to hold off, and wait for a sale. Thx.
Looks too fun man! Definitely picking this up!
Matty, Matty, Matty! A sterling review, Sir, but why didn't you address the lack of voice acting (as your buddy, Skill-Up) so accurately pointed out? That said, I'll wait for a summer sale.
Why would he when it was a design choice? It's not like it was meant to have it and they all decided to have a stop work meeting so it was left out :)
@@DEVILTAZ35 - That obvious oversight bugs me. The game looks good but that narrator seems to be a very annoying obstacle too. Definitely a summer sale item for me.
What would you say is better something like a AC Valhalla or this?
Because a lot of reviewers issues with Biomutant (while well founded) apply to various Ubisoft games.
I Deffo think however if you charge triple AAA price for a game, you should be subject to AAA scrutiny regardless of a 20 man team.
