I actually enjoy the playful interruptions. Joe brings a hilarious comedic anger, other Joe brings a random kind of humor (reminds me of Family Guy in that you never know what you're going to get) and Alex brings a dryer humor. All of them together make a great team because of the interplay between their styles.
Between the “not so rapid” length and the background music of the review, I think I’ve found my new sleeping vid 😌
He literally forgot the name of the game a few times in this review. Calling it biohazard a few times lol. You are also being a bit more easy on this game than I would have been

@@Thorvik1111 what were biohazard puzzles though what would he be talking about if that's the case? There's only one "puzzle" in the game that was repeated 10,000 times and that was the one where you line up the colors by spinning things. There was no variety, it was literally just that

I think he was pretty accurate. I haven't beat it..it's just meh. Not a bad game..far from it. Just nothiing amazing. I think 5/10 is kind of like actually. Would give it a 6 to 7

It seems like this game can be described with one word, "present." Everything in the game is kinda like, yeah that feature exists but that's as far as it goes.
This feels like a game that is going to be constantly updated for some time, so I check into after a year or so.

Games like Marvel's Avengers or Anthem can't pull a No Man's Sky comeback because the core gameplay is not good
@@Cantthinkofname-rp3iw If the game doesn't get better after let's say 2 years and doesn't have a price drop then I won't get it. Being patient sometimes does pay off and I am willing to wait to see how much they patch it up. Video games are developed through patches even if we don't like that.

There was an 8 star electric gun i found that straight up annihilated my enemies. Nothing else i found even came close.

I think this is the only pre-order I haven't regretted since RDR2 and Fallen Order.

I'm enjoying this game. It's one of the few games I can play after work and just enjoy myself and the pace. Perfect wind down. And it reminds me of the N64 days where you just sit down and play.

I have a feeling that there is something not quite right with the volume level in this video? I had to raise my volume to about 93% in order to be able to hear anything. And I usually keep my volume level at 21%. But other than that, great review! Please make more!
Solid review, thankfully devs are really listening to players and patch 1.4 already made some pretty good improvements. Definitely one to keep an eye on / purchase on sale in the future.
The melee felt off, the shooting felt off.
Made me appreciate Devil May Cry and Doom more.

I believe in what you said at the end. With this studio putting this out and having 20 or so people working on it. Believe they deserve some sort of praise and I'd be excited to see what they can do moving forward with other projects.
I played an agility/strength build with dual pistols and unarmed fist fighting. My character fealt pretty op by the end, also never fought a single one of the outpost leaders cause it was super easy to talk them out of it

I'm not sure if this is what you're going for, but Alex's voice with that background music is quite calming, perhaps too much. I wouldn't be surprised if some people fell asleep while listening to this. Not because it's boring, but because he has such deep calming voice.

Waiting for more patches to play. Def had my interest early on but seeing that god awful ai and sound design really turned me off. And janky ass cutscenes. And non impactful melee combat. But devs are aware and working on it so cant wait to pick it up soon
Same here, I am willing to wait another 2 years to see how they will try to improve the game.
Already got a patch fixing some of these issues on PC, coming to console soon.

We even saw the collector's edition and the Atomic Edition on the floor in his room, and he even did an interview with the dev. Would be nice if he made a full review, since he also did that with other worse games before.
I'll never get sick of telling people that it only looks fun but it plays like garbage.

Luckily If you choose mage class, it’ll make the game more fun believe me, but I never wanted to play it again. I wanted to do an evil new game plus but I felt that I just wanted to finish Biomutant already. It gave me stress that the game was long and repetitive. Levitate power made me finish the game, it reminded me a lot of infamous so I pushed through with that and also what happens if I get a full Light ending.
I'm about 30 hours in right now. Got the game for 60 CAD on GOG, which is on the higher end of the AA price range (50 USD, I think?). Didn't know it was full-fat 60 in the US, that was probably a mistake.
I am definitely loving the zen-like exploration. I just encountered a different type of puzzles that aren't rotation-based (still fairly easy, though). Mainly i've been just scurryinh around the map doing quests and upgrading my gear (getting the resistance suits, and doing fetch quests to upgrade my wall- and door-breaking tools to access hidden areas with more loot.
Combat is hit and miss, but a lot of it is combo-driven, since you wanna do consecutive combos to enter "slo-mo-beatdown mode". It's decent fun so far.
It's not a great game, but I love the exploration. Definitely not for everyone, though.
You can also get this on EA Pro if that helps anyone that might have a subscription from Andromeda or Anthem. I forgot to cancel mine and so got to try this out. I quit in the tutorial when I got to combat. It just felt odd and floaty. I'd like to give it another go after a little patching and maybe try the PSI Mage route as it loked quite fluid. Amazing review thanks for putting it together.
I'm very much a "zen" casual gamer, so the somewhat simple combat and being able to just explore and wander the world without mobs spawning around every corner is really nice and relaxing. I don't know if I would have liked this game as much as I do if the pandemic didn't happen and made me stressed out of my brain most days. It's a nice game to fall back on and play when the world is getting to be a bit much for me and I want something simple.
I did have to mute the voices in the game to really enjoy it though. I loved Light and Dark's dialogue, but the narrator felt like my dad telling 5 year old me a story rather than it being a narration of a post apocalyptic and rather dire situation.
The combat has its faults, but I personally love it. Melee especially. I mostly use powers to add something a little extra or open a fight with, but generally I'll stick to melee and use ranged for particularly big baddies.
The only boss I genuinely did not enjoy was the aquatic boss because it felt like the mechanics of the vehicle you get weren't really designed for his fighting style. All the other ones I felt were fun and interesting. They weren't particularly hard by the end, but I had a lot of fun with them still. I liked seeing the animations, the different abilities these things had, and what figuring out how the vehicle I was on worked.
Overall, while it wasn't necessarily what I expected, it was definitely what I needed with all that's going on in the world lately.
Alex joining AJS was the best thing that happened to this channel

Now come on, Alex. Biohazard's puzzles are more interesting than that. Sometimes you have to find the correct sequence, sometimes you have to figure out the combination, sometimes you have to find the proper tool to be able to pick up all the medallions... Now the _Biomutant_ puzzles, I agree.

Pretty good review. You talked about what the game did good and what it did bad on top of giving constructive feedback. Most importantly you showed footage of those issues while talking about them. Most reviewers don't.
swimming uses up your Ki bar... double jumping in water does not... try it :P the stupid thing is yoy can cross large bodies of water later on by double jumping if you have clothing with extra ki

I got to make a Darth Maul rat and a Hulk rat. It was a great game. But Alex is right you got to find your own fun within the world cuz the missions and puzzles will bore you.
That was probably the most authentic 5/10 I have ever heard from a reviewer. You got some real passion for games.
They need to add a stamina bar, ki should be used for psy abilities and not physical ones, add a stamina bar for physical things like sprinting and swimming and dodging.
Am I the only one who actually liked the narrator? Also the fade in and fade out thing just reminded me a lot of LoR Shadow of Mordor with the nemesis. Also the tutorials seemed pretty quick and simple. I don't want to learn to swim or finally use my magic halfway through the game

Yeah, I was intrigued by the trailers and the lore/world. But when I saw through the streams the amount of tutorials, the teletubbies narrator and jokes all the bugs and simplistic combat. I knew it was not for me.

Im really enjoying Biomutant. Love the zen like exploration. Combat is pretty fun and the crafting in the game is crazy fun.
One of the better reviews out there for this game acknowledging that it is not a bad game at all just not what people wanted it to be with some flaws and issues. By the way it is actually not true that psipowers works best for everything it highly depends on youre playstyle and if you play a gunnerbuild or a decent melee build with the right gear it can absolutely match psipowers. People often think that picking a class is not worth it and doesn't change anything but in fact it is a difference if you want to play certain builds and if you want to play with guns use a gun related class and invest in luck and agility for crits and movementspeed. Youre lightning aoe by the way is nice but compared to some melee and guns it is weak! the main difference is that it is often single vs aoe damage but with rifles and melees dealing 10 to 14 times the damage of youre psipowers it is actually a matter of taste rather than a one method is op system. But yes Psi allows for some nice benefits aside like levitation and the flame evasion.
I think the main issue with the combat is whether you are able to master the combosystem and find the weapons or psi powers you really like to play.
Does Alex sit around reading the paper making dad noises with a cigar whilst reviewing these?

CORRECTION: Biomutant Is currently not free on console or gamepass. However Biomutant is listed as free For EA Play Pro subscribers specifically on Origin on PC.

Ya know, I can't really deny any of the problems described in this video, but the thing is I absolutely don't care. This is one of the first open world games I've enjoyed in years despite it's flaws. The Dr. Seuss level of sickeningly sweet, the music (which is so beautiful), and just the goofy jank has me hooked and I'm sold on this studio.
Hopefully you guys can do an ajs news about the leaked cyberpunk 2013 pre alpha gameplay and the internal dev bug montage that would be really funny to watch.
There was a big update that fixed most these issues recently ima wait for a sale and try platinum it they fixed the glitched trophies too

Let's be honest I would listen to 2-hour long game reviews from you Alex, I get the algorithm likes shortish videos but sometimes you need a lot of time to dig deep - not that reviews would really be 2 hours long but I'm the type of guy who enjoys Joseph Anderson videos so I'll take anything
