This is scary stuff, but that is why I am here, to learn.
imagine how concerning this is for someone on anti coagulants ;)
clotting factor time.... INR.
a normal healthy person has a INR of about 1.
someone taking an anticoagulant for medical reasons are usually at a INR of 2-3.
any lower and it's not "therapeutic".
any higher and you risk a hemorrhage.
and again another big thanks to SkinnyMedic.
just watchin' this video gives me the heebejeebee's.
i could deal with it on an occasional basis....but i'm not sure i could deal with it every day.
What a great way to illustrate and explain the symptoms of blood loss and traumatic shock! This video (as well as your other videos) make great training aids for my Civil Air Patrol unit for our Emergency Services program. Excellent!
Thank you for the support!
Dropped a knife on my foot when I was 17 and cut the tendon to my big toe, wasn't a lot of blood but on the way to the hospital I guess I went into shock? I kept vomiting. Another time I helped a woman that was in a car wreck and after seeing her skull from a cut at her hair line, I vomited. Never understood how just seeing something made me vomit but I've always admired paramedics for being able to help injured people.
Shane K I cant walk get dizy after giving a couple blood tests, if i lost one of those bottles i cant imagine returing fire or having fine motor skill.
i felt a little sick to my stomach just watching this video. i truly admire our first responders, nurses, and doctors.
It’s a vasovagal reaction look it up
Another excellent video! What a coincidence we just went over this in my Basic class, keep up the great videos and all the other amazing things that you achieve!
Thank you! I hope it helps
Thanks to everyone for making a fantastic video
They are good guys
Great video. You always hear how much blood we have, just not how much we can afford to loose! The 2500 ML loss mark is a killer!! TQ me please!
Yes!
Lose, not loose.
I had a surgery to remove some stuff from my chest and abdomen at a VA Hospitol after returning home from overseas. A few days after being at home I sneezed and felt a warmth and heartbeat under the compression bandages. (I knew better than this) but I released the bandage to see what happened. As soon as I did it burst under my skin and began to swell with blood with every heartbeat. Seconds ticked by with thoughts of Phone 911 it drive to the Hospitol. I drove to the hospital!! When I got to the car my chest and belly was touching the steering wheel. By the time I got to the hospital it was wrapped around the wheel. It hurt so bad. Dizzy I walked into the ER. The on call nurse looked at me and said OMG!! They put me on a bed and called for a doctor. I could feel the skin ripping the whole time as I continued to swell! The doctor and nurse came in with a fat gauge needle that had a hose off the end and a bucket ( thinking back I laugh at the look of the bucket. It was old looking like a used metal mop bucket) She stabbed my side and I could hear a hissing sound and the stream of blood hitting the bucket. I watched my chest drain and slowly but not that slow collapse back to normal! She said that I needed blood as I have loss to much , not in those words, but I refused and I needed surgery right away. I didn’t want to be put to sleep and during the surgery I could kind of see in the dome of the light the doc working on me. They had a tube that they inserted that would burn the spots that were bleeders. Some spots I would pass out in pain and awake again only to pass out again. Next time I woke I was in my hospital room. Don’t know why I am telling you all this. It was one weird day tho!
Musabe009 GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ! Glad you’re alright
Armed ASMR Thanks, me too! 😊
What happened, did the sneeze just bust some stitches holding a vein together? And your story made me think, how do hospitals immediately know your blood type when someone goes in bleeding out like you did, do they have to take the time to look at it under a microscope ?
Shane K Yes I sneezed and I guess the capillaries and such popped. I was able to tell them my blood type. I didn’t want someone else’s blood plasma in me. I’m glad I am pretty calm person during stressful events.
That story is absolutely insane! You should write a short story about it or something, I think it would be a really neat story to share, I know it had me interested 🤷🏻♀️
Got my SoftT tourniquet from you in the mail a few days ago. The quality is very high and it is easier one handed than the Swat but in my opinion the CAT is far superior to both. I will stick with carrying my gen 7 CAT and use the SoftT as a backup. Thanks for the great service from your web store. Will make more orders in the near future.
Thank you for the support!
Terrific info.
Thanks!
I lost two litres of blood. I was starting to lose my mind and consciousness. I said goodbye to my children. Thanks to a firefighter and a medical helicopter, a great surgeon I have my life back.
Thank God you're ok. You're very brave x
Cancer Lady Pro why did that happen ?
@@vixyvelasquez9898 it was an accident I fell into glass I was bleeding to death.
@@Aprilandfamily not brave, my late dad was with me in the helicopter, in the hospital, with the surgeon and watching me so that I didn't flat line, Since he died before me, he was there the whole time.
Cancer Lady Pro scary .
Great vid great crew
I learned to much, thank you sir.
Great informative video 👍
Thank you!
Good job Skinny Medic. Greetings from Georgia
The timing though!
What kind of plate carriers are those and can you do a video on them and the equipment on it
I like his patch
Can you do a vid on what oh keep on that medical plate carrier??
Did you say you'd loose conscious from a femoral bleed in 9 seconds or 90 seconds?
90
He said lose, not loose.
Great video. Are you guys wearing the vests on the bus?
Would you be able to keep the patient stable for some time at a blood loss of 2000cc by adding volume to the circulatory system, such as plasma or simple saline?
Hi, I was just wondering: I carry a SWAT-Tourniquet as an EDC item. Since pelvic injuries can cause severe internal Blood loss, so you think this could be useful as an improvised pelvic binder? I think of wrapping it around the sides and then tying a knot on the Upside...
Oh My Gosh!! That's a Lot of Blood!!
Right! haha
Hey I had a question-- I had been looking for combat gauze on amazon (now I know I should have used your store, you actually have it and it is relatively cheap)-- well before I knew where to get it packaged as combat gauze, I bought Quik Clot's 2 pack of 3in x 24in clotting gauze-- would you recommend doubling up, or getting a single thing of combat gauze to replace it. Thanks!
Hi just wondering if you'd be able to review the fox seal chest seal as it's the most affordable chest seal I can find and I would like your opinion on it
Yes I plan on it
Hey skinny, for being a 15yr. old and interested in becoming a first responder, what things should I consider that might be important or not very obvious? Thanks

Hey Skinny, have you heard of recon medical? they make a CAT TQ that is really nice. I compared to my buddy's USMC SI CAT, and I can't tell a difference. You should check them out! Keep up the good work.
