    Good video! You can stop the magneto armature from turning when you tighten the bolt by taking out the earthing brush holder. Remove the carbon brush and spring and fit a small wooden plug, This will stop the armature from moving while you tighten everything up. Replace the carbon brush and spring and you're done.

    Doesn't take dwell into account at TDC, also to say, bring up towards full advance to negate gear lash .

    Hi Lorenzo! Excellent video!! Could you just please let me know the following: once you have timed the engine using the method shown in your video, then which spark plug cable (from the magneto) goes to which cylinder? Is it the one closest to the cylinder head (inner) going to the right hand side cylinder (from rider's sitting position) and the outermost one to the left? Hope you will be able to post a response.

    Very good film and way to do it. After i have done this i bolt the engine up put a degree disk on the alternator bolt and strobe it to find out if it is right.

    I would like to use a test light or buzz box to time my BTH mag but have continuity with the points open and closed . Does anyone know how to properly connect a test device to the magneto ? Thanks Much !

    how do you do it when you do not have a degree wheel but a piston stop tool (BU4936 Buzzetti)?

    Easy, but how do you do this on the models without a threaded hole in the crank or cam? That's the trick...

    How do you attach the degree wheel? I have s 1959 Bonneville and I can't see how you can attach to the crank pinion and also clear the exhaust. Any advice Thanks.

      @ladywonderland well I started mine. I installed a gasket on the points cover to make sure that dust wouldn't get in.

      I saw the gasket you were talking about. I would think you would need that one or something.
