I am a prewasher but have not always been one. When I first started sewing I bought fabric for a specific pattern and was to eager to get it sewn up to think about prewashing 😂. It was not until I came across sewists, like yourself, that I learnt the importance of prewashing. I am so sad that tomorrow is the last day of your Vlogmas! I have been looking forward to watching it.
I prewash now always always. Earlier I was not prewashing. Likely I have some older fabric that have not been washed. I began washing for shrinkage and sanitation purposes.
Oh my goodness, yes yes yes I pre-wash everything! Even my double brush Poly. You know what I think about all of those other reasons such as where the factory have my fabric, who touched it, an animal's peeing on it! 😱 I wish I could squeeze out something in a yard of fabric... not even two!😅😅😅 Are you excited to get back to sewing? How's your back? Merry Christmas! I've said it before and I will say it an say it again tomorrow... Merry Christmas!
Loollll we have much in common loool rats peeing on my fabric is my ultimate cringe!!!! I haven’t started yet. Still in the thinking stages lol. I couldn’t feel my fingers today 🤦🏾♀️😖. Merry Christmas to you too!
Most fabric is chemically processed and deserves to be pre-washed and it is just more efficient for sewing. Get the germs and shrinkage out. I pre-wash even before I quilt!😊
I almost always zig zag my wovens and prewash everything. Exceptions are fine fabric like silk. I like my fabric ready to go when I want to sew it. I also wash my project when it is done. Usually because there are chalk lines. I have plans for an Arlington as my next project too. I want to make a cowl neck long sleeve one.
My fabric all gets overlocked and prewashed and even though my clothes (RTW & memade)never get thrown in the dryer(except socks and undies etc).. the fabric does get thrown in the dryer. Doesn't matter what it is.
Lmaoooo… again I am a cut and sew girl. We are no pre treating any fabric . Taking my wild chances every time. I wonder did you prewash your garments when you were buying ready to wear?
Helllll yea. The tags would come off and they would go straight to laundry. I still do that now as I buy RTW for my kiddies and husband. Tag off. Wash. Iron then wear 🙃
I ALWAYS prewash my fabrics!! You know where the fabric has come from and there is the problem of shrinkage.
You're preaching to the choir!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Great!!! Definitely agree re sanitation but shrinkage is important too!
Thanks for the video. I always pre-wash my fabric when I bring them home. I also iron my fabric.
I iron my fabrics before using them too!!!

I pre wash because of germs and shrinkage. I don’t want to do all that work, wash my garment then it shrinks because I didn’t prewash.
