Nice looking rims. I was thinking about the grey rims on my ZR2 as my truck is blue. Everyone goes with black rims. Glad to see went a different route.
Wheels look good on your truck. I went with a +20 wheel. No rubbing. No trimming. Still sits just under the fender flair. No throwing crap down the side of the truck.
I did not recalibrate my speedometer. I downloaded a couple speedometer apps off my phone. Went on the highway set the cruise control and it was still showing the same speed I was going, so I have not recalibrated my speedometer normally like a 7% loss or so, but it was pretty spot on
@@alwaysdifferent For a daily driver 35 inch tire set up I would get 35x12.50r17 Yokohama Geolandar G017 XD AT and 17x8.5 +0mm Method 703 BeadGrip wheels.
@@alwaysdifferent Good idea about the -12mm but a I prefer a 8.5 inch wheel over a 9. Considering every .5 inch wheel width change changes the tire width .2 inches, thats .1 per side, so to calculate the additional tire over hang, .250(narrower wheel) - .1 =.150, as 8.5 wheel needs to be a -19mm for the outer lip of the wheel to be in the same location or with the tire location -19mm + 4mm(.160) = -15mm offset for 8.5 wheel/35×12.50r17 setup.
Love your videos, looking to get some new wheels and tires for my Sand Dune ZR2 and really like the setup you chose! Few questions, 1. How much were you able to get for your stock wheels and tires? 2. Any issues with the 35 fitting under the truck for the spare?
Thank you very much. I really greatly appreciate those kind words!!! I sold my stock rims and tires without TPMs for 1000 bucks. If you are going to do a 35 inch tire you will not be able to fit the spare tire underneath unfortunately. :(. as of right now I just have it laying in my bed in my truck lol I’m looking at other options I got out there as we speak
I love this rims !! I’m sure they do And I’ll be honest. I don’t know the previous generation that well I would call or shoot them an email And ask Or I’ll can shoot them and email and ask for you
Hey Tony sweet rims. I’m checking out the RockTrix now myself. Did you happen to weigh the OEM rim? I see the RockTrix are 25-30lbs and am curious how much weight you saved with the new rim. Need to know how much tire I can add to try to get close to breaking even. Thanks!
Unfortunately, I did not weigh the OEM rims. They sold too fast. lol. I can pull off one of mine rims and tires and give you the weight of those if you like
Oh no worries. I can find those weights online. I heard the OEM were ~80lbs, but that sounded awfully high. Good to know they’ll sell quick though. Thanks!
Right now I’m still running stock. I plan on going to 4:10 or 4 :56 Once then come out with gears for it I guess right now there now aftermarket gears out
I think if feels better with the wider tires the off set Feels more planted As in power loss no Still feels the same ! I’m really happy With this build so far
Aloha! Glad I ran across your video. Love these rim color and think would go great with the zr2 in blue that i ordered. (I'm kinda old school and a lot of the old school race bikes used to run gold rims) Would they fit the stock zr2 tires as well as 35's? I'm thinking to run these rims with the stock zr2 tires until I can get a lift on to accommodate the 35s. Which specific rim did you order, I noticed there were different options. Again your zr2 looks awesome! Mahalo, Mike
hey mike !! thank you !! oh yes ! they would look great with the blue !! the rims will fit with stock tires you are going to want to get the 6x139.7 /106.1 (for the bolt pattern and bore size) and make sure you get the 17x9 -12 (size and offset ) that will fit the 23+ you will have to send me some pic's of your truck once you get it !!!!
Bro I’m going to keep bugging you until i build this damn truck I’m sorry haha. I’m tire shopping now and i want to go E rated because i travel a lot of rocky type trails for hunting. My concern is the weight. each wheel would be slightly over 100 pounds. It doesn’t look like your truck struggles at all but i wanted to ask you and get your opinion, your still running them with out re-gearing so i assume she’s spins then just fine uh. Thank you !
lol just blowing me up I don’t care ! lol. She turns the wheels just fine ,I do think Going up to like a 4.10 or so would be perfect for the 35s But She is not struggling at all right now
Sweet looking setup. I recently picked up a ZR2 in Glacier Blue Metallic and after the tonneau cover, Kuat Ibex bed rack, and RTT that will ne my next mod.
Looks really good with the bronze rims on black truck. Curious though if there's any rubbing issues with 35's, especially on trials. **Side note, TH-cam seems to be flaky lately, had to re-subscribe for the 5th time. Even on other channels I follow, I have to keep checking.
I'm going out on Monday so we will see if there is any rubbing with the 35s ! I've heard that before TH-cam just kicks people off of channels I don't know why !
The new tires and wheels look great - 🤓👍 Don’t forget you've reduced your payload capacity now with the larger heavier tires going from the stock tires. (And the wheels too if they are heavier than the stock ones). And maybe even more if the new rock sliders are heavier than the stock ones. We only have 1,212 pounds payload capacity on our ZR2’s. Extra weight over stock items like tires, wheels, sliders, bumpers, winch, bedrack, tent, camping gear, etc., and you inside, the payload capacity starts going down quickly - 😟 And unfortunately MPG is going down too - ⛽👎
true ! I did the AAL in the rear that should help with the payload that adds 750pound. I'm still getting around 16 to 22mpg. I wish keep the stock rims and tires and do a weight comparison.
@@barryguffey8061 I specifically bought the ZR2 for adventure. I don’t work so I don’t need the WT configuration. I can venture out into the mountains and trees literally from the edge of my driveway. Unfortunately though I love the desert more which is nearly 1000 miles away. Round trip is well over 2500 miles. So I do try to be weight conscious with add ons and accessories. That’s something I can control unlike my 14,500 pound motorhome which loves gas. So I bite the bullet on that one to keep it roll’in. I have an aluminum bed rack that weighs 40 pounds, and my rooftop tent is 90 pounds. The equivalent of a small person riding in the back. For me the stock 33’s are a happy medium. They get me where I need to go somewhat economically without breaking the bank and I can do all the wheeling that I like to do off road with them just fine - 😎👍

that's why I'm always different lol I'm the blue and grey would look sick !!!

That wheel and tire combo is fantastic! Really brings the whole look of the truck together!

can you please share your alignment specs after the leveling kit and the 35's were put on . did you go off the zr2 bison specs ?
let me try to find the paper work !
Are you still running stock gears? Or will you go 4.56's because of the 35".

What hub size wheel did you go with. The bolt pattern is the same for the colorado but they don't list them as fitting a colorado
Any update on the hub size ?
Oh dang I thought I replied to this that is my bad I’m sorry about that 93.1 to 106.1

Did you need to lift your truck for the 35s or is it on the stock suspension
I have a 2 inch in the front and a 1 inch in the rear lift from CCE
What offset does your wheels have? -12?
Nevermind you said what it was in the video. I commented while watching. Lol.

did you regear yet? i went with falkens....and swampers.
No Not yet I’m planing on it tho I’m thinking 4.10 or 4:56. I thinking 4:88 is going to be to much gear

I pulled the factory ones off the factory rims
Do you need lift to fit 35S?
I’ve heard some people squeezing 35s on But you will rub. You need a leveling kit at minimum
Did they give you a discount code in case i buy their wheels?
Unfortunately they didn’t not
