    • @rustbeltgypsy3713
      @rustbeltgypsy3713 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Hickies Music Store depends on what tones you want. If I put Les Paul pickups in a strat, it will be similar, but different. More than likely the best way to go is find a wizard who would hand wind some good pickups to achieve desired tone(s) and be less expensive than a Les Paul purchase, that has Les Paul Pickups, and with have similar sounds. I had a Gary Moore Sig Paul and was absolutely gorgeous, but I never could bring myself to play the snot of her for fear of damage and killing value...but that's me...I'm not a rich man, and I think playability is much more important unless you have deep pockets. So I sold her for some studio equipment and bought 3 nice guitars and ripped on them and didn't have to treat it like an egg because $5000 is quite an investment for a guit fiddle that you want to play the crap out of but still at the same time, possibly use it to save your butt one day to have to sacrifice to pay a bill, save your house, buy or fix your car, something that is more important that a pretty ass guitar that looks and sounds good, and doesn't necessarily pay the bills or keep a roof over my head...if I was a touring guitar player where as it made me more than I spent..sure why not...but most people who have a Les Paul, are not...and treat it like an egg heirloom and never really open her up on stage , a jam, or even at home 120%. For fear of depreciation as explained. To each his own...if you got it like that, Grab that Paul and Play it like no tomorrow...otherwise Grab a Nice Epi and swap pickups. I would go hybrid with p90 neck p.u. or vica versa. Not sure...but even hand wound by the right somebody is just a badass sounding and original than every Les Paul that sounds similar (and mostly badass too)

    I can not tell if you have the two different guitar's set on the same pickups because of camera angle I guess. Are both guitars on the middle setting between bridge and neck? Obviously no need to overpay to get the Gibson. It made sense in the distant past when cheaper versions of the same design may have been of poor construction quality. If you've ever actually played a Gibson vs something like an Epiphone then the difference is immediate. They may sound similar in a lot of ways, but the playability and build quality is just night and day. It can't be compared.
      Don't get me wrong, Epiphone make great guitars, and for most people they're absolutely fine. But they simply don't compare to an actual Gibson. There is absolutely a difference. Whether or not that difference is worth the additional cost on the other hand... well, that's up to you.
