    Hello Sean, Great idea with span between the Hellgates. I think the sign would look best on the wall with a string of lampposts across the center bridge reminiscent of the area near Sand Island in Bethlehem PA

    (This is Tom, not Sandra.)
    I would put the "Lionel" strip sign on the wall instead of having it mounted on the track bridge. I think the vibration of the train going over the bridge every few minutes would eventually loosen the two mounting screws and make the sign wiggle and work itself out of the screw holes over time....thus making the sign fall and damage that area of your layout. That's my opinion. Thank you for posting these great train videos, sir. Good luck with your setup here!!!!

    Hi Sean, enjoying your videos. I would put the sign on the wall and as recommended let the globe lights add some toy train atmosphere to it. I like the LED lighting for under the bridges too. I appreciate all the details you provide in your videos.

    That was excellent. Love the idea for the bridge. If you put the sign in front it will block the view of the passing cars as they pass from one bridge to the other thus ruining the image. Putting the sign in back also allows you to line the upper platform with street lamps. The light of those lamps will nicely reflect in the windows of passing passenger cars. That won’t happen with the sign blocking the image. Just my thought.

    Great ideas and work Sean. ALWAYS top notch. I eould pkace sign on wall. Adds class and stoll allows you to see beautiful tin.

    Great video. Sign should go on the wall so that the light of the street lamps illuminates it. Really enjoyed your CTT article

    I like the sign as a billboard somewhat blocking the view of the trains. This will give the area lots of visual interest as the observer will get glimpses of the trains as they pass through the bridges and behind the billboard and street lights.

      Yeah, I thought that would look cool too.

    As always, excellent video and craftsmanship. I too would put the billboard on the wall behind the bridge so you can see the train as it crosses.

      Yeah, I am up in the air about the location.

    Put the sign on the wall behind the bridge. That way you can see the trains as they cross that nice bridge.

    I really like your bridge idea and build. Put the sign on the wall and light it up - when trains go by both sign and train will pop. Also add the lights in the tunnel - maybe blue. From: Arlin in Byron Center, Mi.

    Very nice plan and well constructed. I would put the sign on the wall also. Maybe a smaller TV would be cheap enough and you can keep your shelf.

    • @seanstraindepot
      @seanstraindepot  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!. The TV was there before, but I wouldn't remove the shelf permanently. Just remove it so I could move the TV mount up and inch or so and get it remounted and put the shelf back.

    Great video Sean. The bridges are going to look great. I think the sign on the wall would look better.
    Thanks for sharing.

      Yeah, I think that what I am going with, and I will do some lighting on it like everyone suggested.

    Hey Sean, the bridges and tunnel portals look awesome. I agree with you that the Lionel sign will look great like a billboard when mounted above the tunnels. nice job! 👍

      @Sean's Train Depot well, there are many ways to things. You asked the question, which will alwsys get variable responses. It all come down to what YOU want and what YOU like. Go with your gut instincts and you can't go wrong. As long as your happy is what really matters.

    It was the 'standard' of the world until the mid to late thirties, American Flyer's 'Standard' gauge lasted till 1935, And, 'Lionel's' 'standard' gauge ceased in 1939, The gauge started to decline in 1933 it was pretty much on life support from that point.

    It would be good (for the purposes of symmetry) to have the tv right in the middle of the two bridges. No brainer with the sign, put it on the front like a notice board, that would look like a ‘something’ instead of an afterthought. Also I’m sure a 1930s kid would have done that. Lastly raise the shelves, keep them out of the eyeline making a definitive distinction between them and the layout.

    • @seanstraindepot
      @seanstraindepot  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the TV was centered on the sofa when that room was my office. Plus, the electrical outlet and connections are behind it in the wall already so can't really move it, plus I need the storage shelves so not getting rid of those, as there is no place in the room, so it all has to stay.

    Lionel sign a backwall. Maybe move TV and replace with shelves. The wall and bridge piers consider gray

    The span using the tunnel portals is a great idea. I like the sign as a billboard. Are you considering using any of your erector set as part of the upper deck?

    • @seanstraindepot

      You just gave me a great idea! Stay tuned.

    So far, it's a bold plan and it looks great, Sean, but how do you get to the collection on the wall above the layout, since the layout is right against the wall under the display? You've probably explained this before, but forgotten how you do it. Looking forward to this new phase as it unfolds.

    • @seanstraindepot
      @seanstraindepot  ปีที่แล้ว

      A simple step stool and I can walk on layout if needed, but I can access them from each end and just pull them off one by one. The standard gauge couplers never let go, lol.

    Move the shelf and raise the TV. Keep it simple

    Mount it on the wall but make it look like a billboard with wood supports, I know that I am viewing this after the fact so I will see what you came up when I view episode 17

    Will the aluminum cross members cause an electrical issue?

    • @seanstraindepot
      @seanstraindepot  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not use them across the span after all, I used a wood board instead.

  • @mikeyanello3664
    @mikeyanello3664 ปีที่แล้ว

    I noticed you eventually used wood so ignore my comment lol. The dig would look great as a billboard

    • @seanstraindepot
      @seanstraindepot  ปีที่แล้ว

      HAHA, I never know what I am going to do until I test things out. I always go for the easiest, so the wood worked.
