For people who are wondering, the 9.0 released in August 2024 just requires you to add a non steam game with Memoria Patcher. Add the patcher in the game folder before adding to non steam game otherwise it won't work. Eventually change the Proton Version and enjoy !

Note that disabling V-Sync for higher framerates (60 or 90) and enabling Shader VRS (the option right under in the Steam menu, I'm french sorry if it's not VRS for you guys), THIS makes a perfect and smooth framerate. Also, you don't need to do a fresh install if you have a former version of Moguri, like 8.3 for exemple. This is really nice. I wish the Deck could allow 3840x2400 for 16:10 best experience, but it doesn't. You have to choose between 3840x2160 (16:9 - 4K) or 2560x1600 (16:10 - 2K), tough choice because one is full screen and slightly blurrier than it should be, and the other one isn't full screen but looks more fantastic. Anyway, I hope this helps people 🙌🙂

No it's TH-cam's fault. I posted a link to github A guy named dotaxis Has made a script called. EchoS9 SteamDeck Install It installs memoria moguri and EchoS9 mods in one go in a simple script that autodetects the paths he has also done one for 7th heaven. I would link it but TH-cam won't let me.
I have to do this. I tried playing FF9 a while ago on Steam Deck and couldn't do it because of the low resolution textures. Literally couldn't see what was going on. This is the definitive way to play the game. Thanks for the tutorial!

Awesome guide!!!! This is the way to play ff9. I remember playing this on the night before one of my most important tests in High School on my PS2 instead of studying. Not completely remastered on a portable screen looking better than ever. Will Moguri work with other mods? Dont want to mess this up, but I would love to get the mod where Beatrice joins the party running too.

I deleted my protons because I had no space on my internal storage. I reinstalled the 7, 8 9, and experimental protons because I cleaned up some unnecessary files. Now, the Moguri Mod isn't working. Anyone had this problem?
I'm at a loss on how yours automatically found the page with the mod when you went to browse when adding non steam game to steam. I cannot find the page anywhere for it

This has a custom implementation of memoria but you can add memoria patcher and run that to make it 60fps. note 60fps is known to cause issues. Maybe consider supporting my work by liking and subscribing
I followed all steps but when add rye exe file to steam it says error when I try launch it on desktop proton tricks comes up and says it doesn't have access to the following directories then tells me to paste it into console and reset proton tricks for the settings to take effect if did this twice still no luck hope you know what I'm talking about how do you reset proton tricks I've done the command in the terminal and closed out of everything

Tbh I don't know what Beatrix is I'd need to look into it. This is a standalone mod I'd imagine might not be cross compatible

I have problem with moguri mod, when I run it like on video, moguri freeze and cursor doesn't work...
Try full delete on steam and a fresh reinstall
