How To Drain Water In A Washing Machine-Tutorial

In this video, I show you how to drain the water in a washing machine. If there is water in your washing machine and it hasn't been able to drain it, you have to get that water out. I tell you a few simple things that you can do to remove and drain the water from the washing machine. Hopefully it isn't the actual pump that is the problem because a washing machine pump can be a pricey repair and something that is quite difficult to do by yourself. With that being said, I tell you how to try to drain the water and then if it doesn't work, it is likely the pump that is the problem with the washing machine.

My washing machine is quite an old Hitachi model and it does not have the “drain and spin” or “rinse and spin” button, it has an individual “rinse” and “spin” button. What I found out is that i can just simply press the “rinse” button and all the stagnant water within it flows out like normal 👍🏻 hope this helps to anyone that has the same issue as me. My washing machine wouldn't run because the belt broke.
And the washing machine broke in the drain cycle.
So our washing machine was choked full of wet clothes and water
I used my wet/dry shop vac hooked it up to the drain hose and sucked it dry.

I just happened to be the unlucky soul today and washed a full load of clothes only to realize that my laundry had become soup. Not only that, but I had to drain it manually because the drain and spin option doesn't work and I'm too scared to try to rinse and spin because I don't want to have to drain it again. And to make matters worse, pretty much all my clothing was in that single load and my sister really had the nerve to get mad at me when I contorted her about trying to use the washer when it was obvious that it didn't work (since there was still a bit of murky water at the bottom). I've only lived in this house for four years and if I get another washer, it would be the third one I've gotten while living here. 😐

I have a washer that apparently drains properly, but I noticed there is a small amount of water leftover beneath the metal basin, within the plastic tub space underneath... even after the drain and spin completes. This small water leftover can get smelly when left a while. Any ideas on if it's possible to have a proper and TOTAL drain of the water in the washer tub? (Top load kenmore washer) thanks for any tips. Drain pump seems to be working as normal, btw.

@@waelbarsoum4027 I think it's normal to cover the drain so bad smells from the drain pump dont come up. If your washer smells you can disassemble it, remove the basin and wash all the grime out of the tub, there was a lot of grime on mine.

It's like there still is a bit of water left and doesn't completely drain it all.. I don't know if a bit of water should stay there or if a new water pump is needed.

Hi there,
How to get rid of excess water after using the washing machine, switched off but after a few hours saw clean water about 1/8 remaining in the drum.
Switch on the drain button again and water was gone but after a few hours the same clean water began to fill up similar to earlier 1/8 level.
How to remove this 1/8 clean water completely? There was once a few weeks I tried the water was gone completely after a few washing.
But now this problem repeats itself.
Can you share with me how to handle it to drain this clean water from the washing drum.

*** If you need to remove the water from your washing machine because it will not drain after you try the drain or rinse and spin cycle...
GET A HOSE LONG ENOUGH TO EITHER REACH OUTSIDE OR BATHTUB. FILL THE HOSE WITH WATER. HOLD ONE END UP WHILE YOU FILL IT. ONCE FILLED, HOLD BOTH ENDS OF HOSE UP SO WATER DOES NOT DRAIN. PUT ONE END OF HOSE DOWN INTO THE WATER INSIDE OF THE WASHING MACHINE. CLOSE THE LID OR TAPE DOWN THE HOSE SO IT STAYS IN PLACE. STILL HOLDING THE OTHER END OF HOSE UP, GO OUTSIDE OR TO THE BATHTUB AND SET THIS END OF THE HOSE DOWN. *MAKE SURE THIS END OF THE HOSE IS LOWER THAN THE HEIGHT OF THE WASHER/OTHER END OF THE HOSE.* THIS WILL DRAIN THE WATER OUT OF YOUR MACHINE* YOU CAN ALSO USE BUCKETS TO DRAIN THE WATER INTO IF YOUR HOSE ISN'T LONG ENOUGH.
