Moments like this are when we're glad DKC doesn't have a time limit like Super Mario. You can just enjoy the music for a while.
Agreed
Just push the pause button! Or better yet, there's a hidden music player in the options menu! This game alone proved why the SNES was superior, even compared to the Amiga's sound chip!
@@MidnightMechanic Amiga wasn’t nearly as popular either. I guess maybe in the UK, but definitely not in North America
@@maxrichards5925 Pinball Dreams was a game with great music for both the SNES and Amiga, but the SNES sounds much more fuller, like a Rush concert!
@@MidnightMechanic I haven’t heard it myself, but I’ll see if I can find the ost on TH-cam too 👍
Donkey Kong Country has some of the best musical compositions of all time.
Ikr?😁👍
I agree, Snakey Chantey is one of my fan song in DKC2
The soundtrack for Donkey Kong Land 2 is even better, in my opinion.
Top 3 OST of all time for me, and itll never lose it's spot
@vanya65 It really is that good. One of the best soundtracks ever.
The 90’s were awesome, growing up playing this was priceless
The amount of money I would pay to go back to the 90's is astonishing...

Now imagine growing up with this in the 90s! Real feels! You just had to live it in the 90s. Best decade ever!
I'd love a time machine. Right a few wrongs, relive the golden age of gaming.
This game and a Link to the Past had a massive role in getting me through middle school.
i envy 90's kids so much man
I was 8 going on 9 when this game came out. I was blown away by the music in this game. I'm fortunate enough to have been around in the 90s when this game was huge.
One of my best friends (whom unfortunately died 10 years ago) and I used to go cruising around in his car, and he would crank this tune loud and put it on repeat. I never argued with that because I loved this track.
Nostalgia is Magnificent.
Some of the best music comes from video games, even old ones.
I'm a gen alpha listening to this and i think it's good it reminds me about the kids what grew up with this stuff
ESPECIALLY tha old ones, FYM!!
ONLY from old ones. Sorry today's kids, your games sucks. We had the better ones !
Stickerbush Symphony simply proves that video game music is art.
VGM had many influences, this is like some ambient music, there's soul music, jazz (super mario world)...
All music is art, being made for video games doesn't really change or affect that. If anything, it helps support the notion that video games themselves are art, in that they are an amalgamation of individual components which are all their own kinds of art.
and it introduced a lot of people to "Gamer Rage"
Video game music? More than that. Video games THEMSELVES are art.
Every VGM is an art, but this is on another level where SNES at its peak
It warms my heart to see people discovering DKC music for the first time, it's absolutely one of the greatest strengths of the series.
Agreed! Moments like this!
i'm gen z or whatever so didn't really grow up with DK (although my dad loves it and we play it together nowadays) but i love the music so much and in 2021 i was really badly ill with covid struggling to sleep at night but i kid you not donkey kong music was what sent me to sleep every night during that time! so despite it not having any nostalgia with me it's still very special and important to me :>
@@nebby6041 still use DKC music to sleep a lot of the time, and I’ve done so for years. These songs are something truly special (speaking from one gen z to another, though I didn’t have parents who cared about DK beyond the original arcade game)
@@supercamborg4218Yeah, unfortunately DK has skipped some generations. Most older folks will think of the 1981 arcade game, 90s kids know it as a powerhouse franchise that rivaled Mario and Sonic, but 2000s kids mostly only know DK from his cameos in Mario spin-offs. So not every generation of kids has really gotten to experience DK, sadly.
@@jarerarebear1765What are you talking about? Donkey Kong Country Returns, DKCR2, and Tropical Freeze all exist? Those came out around Gen z childhood. All just as good as the original series.
How happy I was, 26 years ago playing Donkey Kong!
I would go back in time even without money, without a car and without a job.
I miss you!!!!
Dkc music was an experience. It was so trippy, calming, mysterious. And now nostalgia is mixed into it. Its like crack.
Imagine a brand new dk with this type of old school music and graphics. Would be insane.

It's so hard to explain how this is such a core childhood memory. As a 7 year old boy I couldn't wait to pick up my schoolbag and run the 10 minute walk from school back home to play Donkey Kong Country 2.
I used to be home before my mom and i'd just listen to the music. Crazy how a grown man instantly can reconnect to long ago passed days.
This is one of the first songs I learned to play on the violin because it's magical.
This would sound fantastic on a violin.
I wont lie... I dropped several tears hearing this track, and seeing you genuinely appreciate it. Life was really tough, growing up. Not a lot of good memories. But this game and its sound track did so many things for me.
Blessings!
Take care bruh ! And help kids if you can.
@@pojoh2585 My favorite part about DK was the fact there was no timer. I'd let these tracks play for 15 minutes at a time when I was 7.
Edit: Scrolled down thru the OG comments on this, and people said the same thing... No time meant unlimited trax haha
amen brother. amen. i feel you entirely
I was in middle school when one day at a family wedding someone spotted a giant lump on my mom's throat which ended up being a thyroid tumor. I spent the weekend prior to her surgery lost in this game and particularly this song. Monday morning my dad made me go to school while my mom was having surgery. Everything went great, the tumor was bengn and it never again caused a problem, but this song is an eternal reminder of that, and it's kind of huge.
I never realized how calming and motivating this music is, it makes me want run a marathon but at the same time want to just lay down and think about life
I mean, you can do both.

yea they were great!!
The first game too!
Yeah
yea people don’t like to give 3 it’s just due. it’s my favorite out of the series.
The whole series has amazing OSTs, Tropical Freeze is another one with a fantastic soundtrack, even though the style is a little different. (The gameplay is really good there too. Returns was a little iffy but Retro Studios really found their footing with TF and made something truly worthy of the series even if it was different from the SNES games)
One of the greatest video game songs! I always listen to this from time to time.
The youngins are finally enjoying what we had to play back in the day. This is nice
A lot of snes and early ps titles bop. Chrono Cross came out in 1999 and Another World Termina lives rent free in my head to this day.

everyone who hears this song just stops to acknowledge how insanely beautiful it is. it calms me down when im upset, makes a bad day slightly better. DKC music is TOP TIER.
you know that feeling in your heart that you cant explain wen you see and hear someone... that is into what you love and then says the exact same things you would... feels like a kindred spirit. and then the feeling knowing that you will never be with them talk to them hug them. the irony in the melody of this track the feeling..... :( i hope who ever this girl is with appreciates and truly understands what he has if this is really her.
I used to start this level without playing to just listen.
It's music like this I like to meditate to. You get transported to a whole other realm and all other sounds just get blocked out. So ethereal
That theme hits straight through me, so damn good.
I remeber this level. I was 5 when dk2 came out. Its surreal to see someone else who probably never played the game before appreciate the music from a video game era that's consisdered retro in modern times.
I'm impressed about how this was my exact reaction! I was ready to go all in for a familiar level, but I was surprised with the almost forgotten musical masterpiece it held all the way around. Once I was 3 seconds in, I left the controller on the desk and sat back just to hear.

This is so dumb. Immediately acting shocked the moment the track starts, as if she’s not aware it’s a beloved song and has never heard it before.
It’s not an “oh my god” kind of song, nobody organically reacts to it like this. It’s quiet and understated, you come to love it after hearing it a million times because this level is hard as shit.
