I love the amount of creativity that they put in to it. It actually looks like an official sequel, and I imagine that, in the '80s, it would have been a hit.
I thought this was a just a level swap, but then I saw the animation of Mario, Pauline, and Donkey Kong at the end of the third level. (With the gas stoves.)
i consider myself a connoisseur of these retro games and I must admit i really don't remember this game or i completely forgot about it.. thanks for sharing...
Upon seeing this Donkey Kong 2 the Return of Jumpman video I'm so very disappointed that the video game itself never appeared in any video game arcade nor video game systems here in the United States of America because it would have been so totally cool, fun & exciting to have experienced playing the actual video game itself instead of watching it on video!
It's a shame this version didn't make its way into the mainstream. I can't speak for anyone else, but I would have spent a bundle playing this game back in the day.
I fondly recall Awesome Kong. Princess: "Oh please don't beat my random plumber boyfriend to a pulp with your giant monkey arms of death!" DK: "Hell no! I'm gonna throw barrels at him!"
quick facts that are irrelevant and relevant : 1. jumpman is mario 2. it probably wasnt made by nintendo but it was licenced by nintendo because donkey kong ( the original ), donkey kong 2 , donkey kong 3 and donkey kong jr were on the NES 3. in the original mario brothers for the atari and arcade mario was a carpenter and i believe frok this game and on he is a plumber 4. Instead of saving peach you save a girl name pauline
ur welcome lsm.great freakin' video.i always LOVED the high-pitched sound of falling objects in the original donkey kong (mad-springs) and mario bros (falling icicles). that's what got my attention to video games back in 1982 and been playing them ever since.thanks nintendo of america and Legendary Super mario.
Thanks (by posting your video) for letting me know that this game was now available on MAME. I finally now have this game that I have wanted for a long time. I found the rom on emuparadise, and I found the Mame 0.141 version that you recommended on emulator-zone. Btw, it's worthy of mention (to those unaware of it) that the rom doesn't work unless you have the 'dkong' rom aka 'Donkey Kong (set 1)' to go with it. Thanks again!
I actually played the cabinet version of this game. It's set up at a place called "Funspot" in New Hampshire. Funspot is an actual arcade museum, and world record competitions are held there. They had this game in the cabinet version set up. And yes, this is not "technically" a licensed Nintendo game.
At the height of 75 M.. It looks like an oil rig up there.. At 125 M and 175 M, It looks like PIE factory.. Still, jumpman died on the "plate" is pretty funny.
This is my TH-cam video of the day. A great game from the past made better. Can just imagine if this been released back for the NES it might have sold as well as SMB 3, or would have made Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, and 3 (and Donkey Kong 64) collector's items because this was (unlockable) inside.
@LengendarySuperMario, ugh I keep getting an error message stating that certain roms or CHD's are missing. Could be a bad rom. Ill just keep looking. Thanks a bunch for the help!
Hi how install in Mame? Have you the rom? I found only a bad rom with 36 kbyte but it must a version with over 60 kbyte but I can not found it? Witch mame version are compatible? Thx for answer
I went to a video game event in California and they have an arcade machine of this hack as well. I don't think this is as uncommon as you think. I mean, there's probably less than 100 machines out there, but still, way more than two machines.
I played this at Funspot and I couldn't complete the yellow level (third level). I removed all of the pieces and I still died when I touched the things at the top of the board... Even though the fire had been removed I died.
Which mame emulator because the one I downloaded from just says the selected image is missing one or more files. This is driving me nuts because I've downloaded like 6 different mames and they either don't have DK2 on the list, or it says that it's missing one or more files. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
It would be nice if you could run through it 2 or 3 times to see the different changes after you complete it the first time, like the jumping fireballs when you go back to level 1
I was at an arcade in Dallas Tx called Cidercade they had this in an arcade cabinet with a Donkey Kong 2 markee. Very hard game to play but it's a nice challenge. I had this rom for Mame but it never ran. I never knew about this game but had a good feeling this was a hack like Donkey Kong Advance ( another good hack) . The person really put some effort into creating this especially on the intermissions. I rather play these style games vs the stuff they was coming out in the 90's ( graphics, sound and feel). When was this hack created? I'm going to find this rom to play along Donkey Kong Advanced( Donkey Kong hack).
Not much info on the history of this. I’d love to know who made it. Did it ever make its way into arcades back in the day? I assume Nintendo had nothing to do with it right?
No, When Shigeru Miyamoto created Donkey Kong his name was Jumpman, only in the Japanese version of the game. Then when Miyamoto sent the game Minoru of Nintendo of America, Jumpman was such an odd name so he changed it..the name mario came up from the landlord that yelled at them for not paying the bill.
I love the amount of creativity that they put in to it. It actually looks like an official sequel, and I imagine that, in the '80s, it would have been a hit.
There was an official remake/sequel on the GameBoy in 94.
Awesome :) brings back so many memories! My grandfather won an original Donkey Kong cabinet before I was born so I grew up playing it. Great times.
Gosh. I really miss those days of arcade machines. The golden years.
1:20 what the heck!? The first level of donkey Kong 1, but a hack of MORE BARRELS! And donkey Kong throws them faster!
4:03 Congo Bongo reference. :P

La segunda parte me parece la pasada

Beautiful and skillful programming.
The new levels look atleast as challenging as the older ones too.
The name should be:
Donkey Kong 2: The Lost Levels
Upon seeing this Donkey Kong 2 the Return of Jumpman video I'm so very disappointed that the video game itself never appeared in any video game arcade nor video game systems here in the United States of America because it would have been so totally cool, fun & exciting to have experienced playing the actual video game itself instead of watching it on video!
4:03: Alice's Restaurant!
(Always wondered why they had that tune in the original game.)
It's a shame this version didn't make its way into the mainstream. I can't speak for anyone else, but I would have spent a bundle playing this game back in the day.
Its on the computer. Search hard.
Sweet. Thanks.
Is A hack of "Donkey Kong" which adds four new stages and changes the original four stages slightly.
Someone (not Nintendo) Really spent some time making this. The game is a mystery.
I fondly recall Awesome Kong.
Princess: "Oh please don't beat my random plumber boyfriend to a pulp with your giant monkey arms of death!"
DK: "Hell no! I'm gonna throw barrels at him!"
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE... Here's me resolving the stupidest thing I've ever done! IT'S NOT STRETCHED ANYMORE!

It's cool to watch stuff like this. I wished the player would have went further, but man I was impressed. Good Job!!!
I loved plying the newer levels! Great level design that left me feeling accomplished when I completed them all.

Cool! I just downloaded the rom and wanted to see someone else play, as I was having trouble on the 4th level. I got it now!!!
I love this version
All these years I never knew about this but its damn good
Wow, I could see how this game ties into DK, DK jr, and Super Mario Bros.

I must have been living under a rock i've never heard of this game.
Lol alright then
This looks awesome...I really want to play it now.

I remember watching this video a lot back then.
I played this at MAGfest this year. It was pretty interesting. I was also genuinely confused since it was in a normal DK cab.
Watched this video in awe! I always remember playing the 1st DK and Jetpac as bonus games on Donkey Kong 64! :-)
人を大切しろ!愛新持栄隊総館超久保田勉ゲーム新大臣!安全・自殺対策大臣!会社改革大臣!仕事対策大臣!規制緩和大臣!地方活性化大臣会社平和維持!
I like that scene after level 2, a la Ms. Pacman. Never realized that thing was a purse, now I finally know.
I like how towards the end of the 2nd level, before climbing up the ladder to Pauline, you jump over a barrel but don't receive any points.
I like how DK tries to save himself from falling on the final screen, but Mario stamps on his hands and causes him to fall.
VicGeorge2K6 true its funny
There's a cabinet at DisneyQuest in Orlando.
5:42 level 2 of donkey Kong 1, but donkey Kong barely does anything and those trampolines move faster.
I just love the jump and walk sounds hahahaha
Es una verdadera leyenda Jumpman... me encanta ^^
i want to say ik this isnt a oficial game but dam whoever made it is a fn genius ty,
duke NUKEM BRODDER!!!
wow, this is nice, i'll have to seek this out myself.
"How High can you get?"
..that always makes me smile XD
No, his name is actually Jumpman and not Mario. He was just renamed Mario in the Sequel Donkey Kong Jr.
"How High can you get?"
Challenge aquised...Man...Yeah.
This donkey kong look crazy.
It was a standalone or conversion, it came out as the market crashed, ( Like Joust 2 )
So THATS how Donkey Kong got captured by the likes of Mario.
i heard one is in some arcade in new Hampshire forgot the name been a while since i follow this last
@LengendarySuperMario, ugh I keep getting an error message stating that certain roms or CHD's are missing. Could be a bad rom. Ill just keep looking. Thanks a bunch for the help!
Nintendo actually did call Mario Jumpman when DK was first released. So, Jumpman is official.
I've played eight levels on DK GB, but the new ones here aren't the latter four I played.
Kinda like PAC man having a cutscene play after 2 stages of playing
finally someone makes a part 2 theres only a 1 & 3 officially
quite a few, especially if you count the Mario Game & Watch games.
Hi how install in Mame? Have you the rom? I found only a bad rom with 36 kbyte but it must a version with over 60 kbyte but I can not found it? Witch mame version are compatible? Thx for answer
Jumpman is a rumor.
He was always mario, except one point in development he was mr video
I dig that bassline. Doo doo da, doo doo da, doo doo da, doo doo da, doo doo da, doo doo da

I was in my teens, oh those days were so innocent :(
That Donkey Kong Craze Is Have Donkey Kong 2 Jumperman Returns
Great video!
very nicely done
I played this at Funspot and I couldn't complete the yellow level (third level). I removed all of the pieces and I still died when I touched the things at the top of the board... Even though the fire had been removed I died.
No it’s Mario returns, you being Mario
I luv the shorts in this game

I remember this but it wasnt called donkey kong jumpman returns they was just extra levels on the iriginal donkey kong
This is real. I have it on MAME. There's even a download link in the description and a link to the game on Newgrounds.
finally found a MAME that plays this game and it is cool.
Was this game really released for NES and what year did it come out?
i still can't believe there's physics in this game
2:00 Wat Did Donkey Kong Do?
NM .. found it.. but can't find it in the list of games. hmm

4:03 does this remind you of anything?
Axzyte
Love this version
@reaperjesse1210 Yeah, you have to name it dkongx. I tried naming it dkong2 and it wouldnt appear it my list of games when i opened mame.
Donkey Kong NEVER made it to the Atari 5200 and the coleco vision's version DID NOT have all the levels as the arcade version.
Is this available on mame? I've never seen this version of DK even in the arcades.
Donkey Kong super duper expert mode
and that's how donkey Kong jr was born
In the first level, how are you supposed to get Pauline's hat in the bottom right corner?
Not much info on the history of this. I’d love to know who made it. Did it ever make its way into arcades back in the day? I assume Nintendo had nothing to do with it right?
That's correct, Nintendo wasn't involved. If you want to find out more... Check out my video description!
1982 (or after the hack)
Jumpman: Don´t Worry pauline I Dont Some NOBODY TOUCH THIS
No, When Shigeru Miyamoto created Donkey Kong his name was Jumpman, only in the Japanese version of the game. Then when Miyamoto sent the game Minoru of Nintendo of America, Jumpman was such an odd name so he changed it..the name mario came up from the landlord that yelled at them for not paying the bill.
1981 relives again more then ever before.
I want this game!
Jeff Kulczycki made this hack here you can google him or look for him via you tube hope hope this helped.
I played this game at funspot. This game is really hard. All the donkey kong machines there are hard.
How did you get the game ?
I never saw this in the arcade in my area!!!
How did you get it to work on mame? I've got the rom but mame doesn't recognize it.
The first stage was from Smash Bros.
This is a hack of the Original Donkey Kong, and the real Donkey Kong 2 was a Game & Watch that only saw the light of day in Japan
But how many jump buttons would Jumpman jump if Jumpman could jump jump buttons?
