I've never thought of it's possible to animate based on sound input. Thanks for sharing this knowledge. I'll try it out. And I like your clay - stop motion style. Will watch more of your tutorial and have a look at your Patreon. Also, looking forward to the Keymesh thing.
Hi again, I tired the tutorial, and it works very well before baking action, after baking action, it gives me two keyframes at both start and end of the frame range. There were no animation at all as before baking. what could be wrong? Thank you
@@SouthernShotty Hi, There's something that I don't understand, you assigned the driver to Z location, and then baked the sound file to y location. Could you please explain? Thanks
hellö dear shotty, did you know, that you can also change the amplitude of the audio animation with the envelope modifier? just click on add point at the beginning of the animation. then it should work :)
Awesome tutorial ! I wish you could do one for Midi animation also. That would be GREAT ! How to make trees and plant respond to specific notes for instance. I want to let NATURE respond and visualize my music...😊

∞ I think you could achieve this just with audio stems & velocity if you really want to use MIDI. If you set unique velocity values to your midi notes depending on the pitch, it will translate in blender with the volume of the audio. You’d have to do it manually and it would be a bit tedious. Different audio stems for each notes or chords could work better & give you more control, as long as everything is synced with the full song you could make each element of a scene behave differently to the same song
I know this is an old video but thoguth it was worth asking here. Ive followed your tutorial but my music doesnt quite seem synched with the animations. THey both begin on frame one but the model continues for a short period after the music has stopped. Could this be due to the frequency range? Ive tried messing with some numbers but cant quite get it
There's something I don't understand, if the driver activate the shapekey on the Z axis, why do you use the Y axis when you import the music ? ( I tried and It did nothing so I used the Z axis )
im doing something wrong, the armature is not binded to my 3d object and thus is not affecting the driver and im not sure what i did wrong. I selected the object, shift add armature, then add the bone and rename, and then jump to the 3d model to parent the driver. But is not working
Have you solved this issue yet? I'm having the same issue. Following the exact steps but moving the driver on the Z axis doesn't change egg shell Z location.
Oh man, I thought I'd be able to do this myself, but I don't have a little doggie anymore. 😭 I want to make my drone dance (while landed, of course) to Despacito (slowly...), well maybe while it dances flying away too, he's happy. Wait, maybe I can! Tyvm.
I feel like I'm getting a bit frustrated. I thought everything was alright until I saw that the mesh is truly animated with the shape keys frist. But I just rigged a whole bird up, with beak bones, and leg bones, etc. I have no clue how to make this with what I currently have. I thought this was going to be a nice fun project, but I feel like I'm just walking backwards at the moment. I've watched through it all, and I feel just as confused. I'm going to guess that Shape Keys are just for simple characters? Like, things that don't initially have any bones in it. Or am I completely wrong? D:
Since blender supports Python wouldn't it be easier to use scripting to detect where throughout the audio the chicken needs to be shown and when hidden?
Yeah I don't get that either. I tried to reason it out, but I can't get it. Driver is set to be affected by bone's movement on the Z axis, the keyframe for the Z axis is deleted, but the one from the Y axis that's left affects Z axis movement instead of Y. How come? What am I missing here?
Bruno Suraski He was just offsetting the keyframes the response was the same for all the eggs, but you can setup specific frequency ranges like a multi band eq and have the eggs assigned a particular range like bass in the middle ring going out to the high frequencies on the edge ring
@@gower1973 Thank you, I believe the offsetting keyframes is for the concentric effect. The last scene where the chickens are lined up do not seem to show the chickens doing the same on different times. It looks they are responding to different frequencies.
Is there any way to make it move "smoother", without losing sync with the music? I feel like my poor chick's giving itself a concussion when it changes direction too quickly lol. Is there a setting to do it or would I just need to manually go through it? Thank you for any help ^_^ (I'm rather new to Blender's animation functionality, and I've never touched the f-curve stuff before :s)
Hey i am having problem in posting this I have created music visulation with your tutorail refrence but when I post it on Instagram they say video has no sound but while posting I didn't disable sound still they say video has no sound. There's another way to play sound, by adding speaker object

You can apply the animation to bones. Same principles apply. Maybe use an animation clip instead with your rig animated 😁

after animating the eggs and next step for modeling ,the egg and the chicken are combined so how do I model them separately please can u help?
by model I meant give color to them 😅
press p with object selected to separate

Not for people who don't know how to script 😊

I'm used to Y up from other apps, you can bake it however you want

Change the attack and release numbers
@@SouthernShotty Thank you very much! :D
Why did you delete the x and z keyframes? What would happen if you left them on?
just to clean clutter
Everytime, the egg, it doesn't split and the bottom half drags along with the top, not sure what im doing wrong.
Check your audio amplitude and mesh weights. If you follow along exactly, it should work
