Considering how new Rivian is to manufacturing, I am impressed to see how quickly Rivian responds with quality and process improvements. I hope Rivian has enough capital to make over the hump to being self sustaining from sales. So far like what I see.

@@wtmayhew they have VW in for $5 billion for a reason....they can't continue on their own. They certainly can't run factory lije vw experience can,and vw parts procurement ability with vendors. That is why tesla is such junk they still don't know how to run a car factory or deal with vendors that's why they can't make a properly priced vehicle of any decent build quality. Uaw will be in tesla they are toast then..like pay real wages

whats new a 2014 honda crv can stay more up to date than a 2025 rivian r1s. upgrade my infotainment center at anytime and modify and make my vehicle faster at any time also its only a matter of time before someone makes a full self driving kit tack onto any car lol.

I intend for my next vehicle to be a BEV and am waiting for the next generation of solid state batteries to move into EV ownership.
For the EV’s currently available, I like what I see from multiple auto companies.
The one area I dislike is the use of touch controls for HVAC, Infotainment, seat movement, etc. Driver use of touch controls is dangerous as it almost always requires the driver to move their eyes from the road to the screen - this is dangerous and a significant safety issue.
I want to see auto companies design controls using ONLY mechanical knobs, buttons, and switches. This feature will have a big impact on my purchase decision.
I believe touch only controls should be made illegal in moving vehicles.

Those hydraulic lines hanging down so low make me a little nervous for off roading. I wonder how much money the hydraulic roll control costs. The ride quality of the Gen1 R1S was honestly terrible. I certainly didn’t notice anything that impressive with the drive or ride during my extended test drive. Supposedly the Gen2 has been retuned to improve the ride, but by how much? I don’t know.
Since 9/10 Rivians never leave the road I feel like they could cut costs and price by offering a standard roll bar model and then an off roading package that includes the hydraulic roll stabilization. If I had to guess this is at least a thousand dollars in cost per vehicle that could be eliminated.

Good morning guys from Seattle. I absolutely love the detail your team goes into every project. One question though.. did Rivian solve the annoying front end rattle/clunking etc.. from the halfshafts? I've had my R1T in several times for what sounds like rocks bouncing around over sharp bumps. They have done two recalls for this, however the odd design of the halfshaft (slip yoke style) contributes to excess noise as there's always lateral movement internally. Mine still drives me nuts at slower speeds over sharp bumps.
    Thanks!!

I had the mobile service team to my house 1/2 dozen times during my brief ownership. Only Consumer Reports seems to be accurately reporting on this. But I guarantee my issues aren't isolated. I am also astounded that the company has failed to build a quality car with the R1 and are now planning on mass production and scale with the R2. Regarding the Undercarriage in the beginning of the video it looks to be Aluminum, how's the RUST on Aluminum?
Who thought of those stainless steel lines?
Notice how they marked EVERY single bolt underneath?

That Bosch motor as opposed to Rivian Motor, could've been a limited time.

    • @areitu
      @areitu 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Aluminum doesn't rust. They probably marked the bolts to make sure they were torqued into place properly by the assembly operator. This is something other manufacturers do too. Motor mount stiffness is tricky becuase you don't want noise and vibration from the motor, but you also don't want it to move around too much

MUNRO - what Rivian is doing in the FRONT end , a little better than before , still TOO expensive .
and still NOT Front End Gigacasting. or TESLA like Discrete front end Casting of entire assembly in a Module.
I suspect something similar is going on in the REAR assembly , no Gigacast and no DISCRETE modules.
