    • @JustinTopp
      @JustinTopp 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mohamat Riduwan modern day Damascus refers to pattern welded steel that’s actually worse than a mono steel blade would be. Historically it was wootz current day steel is much stronger than Damascus or wootz

    Hi Paul that was a beautiful blade to look at on video. But it was the smaller details you incorporate that will make it more than a beautiful knife to use. The balance just slightly forward of the handle superb ! I could go on more but I'll leave it for others to spot in the build video 😀 thanks bro Anthony Kent

  • @tapsarautanen

    I find funny how many people try to look smart by telling this is not "real" Damascus steel but actually miss the point that terminology changes
    meaning with time. This is not the same process of 18th century Middle East blacksmiths (which is fact I do not believe anyone really know what it was) but a billet welded blade like this can be legally called "Damascus". You can be as pedantic as you want but you cannot demand or sue someone who advertise a blade like the one presented as Damascus (check for instance big internet vendors), hence the title is actually correct in today's language. Opposite to this you could in principle have your money back if you buy a chemically etched blade which was sold to you as Damascus... Great knife and video, by the way.

  • @fnafplayer6447
    @fnafplayer6447 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    A little tip you could have done for the blade is put clay over the spine of the blade so when you quench it, the spine stays soft while the edge stays hard so the spine will absorb all the hits the edge takes. I learned this from Forged in Fire and thought you would find it useful. You could also use refractory cement from watching Marek Tabi's Katana video. I hope this tip helps you in future projects 😁
