Still catching up on older videos. This turned out fantastic. The the handle "texture" matched the blade perfectly and loved that green color. All in all, another grand one! 👍
Looks like the below 3 commenters are garbage, but "I" think the steel is excellent, if the scissors were excellent. BTW--you have made a beautiful and HARD edge excellent knife!
It's about 2 years since I've watched your videos and i decided to jump back into some soothing maker stuff and man I just gotta say you're still one of my favorites. Really glad to se you're still at it and sorry for straying away for so long!
Beautiful knife! Thanks for sharing your process and thoughts along the way :) It's really encouraging for a new blacksmith to see the pros getting over hurdles too.
I think using the scissor hole as part of a razor would be a banger idea! Totally totally cool! This knife also turned out really cool! Even though the pattern didnt come out as funky as expected, the knowledge of how it was made TOTALLY makes it a sweet knife! (The scales used are beyond cool too!)
I ADORE a drop tip broad-width blade style. 5 stars on your craftmanship because of an excellent end result. Simply beautiful work and impressive design too. My subscription you have attained.
sir, holy smokes its beautiful! i'm blown away! its perfect in every way! from myself and earthwalkers: thank you so much! with sincere gratitude, nunzio
That is probably one of the nicest knives I’ve seen!! Good handle to blade ratio, nice shape on both handle and blade, cool pattern on blade and nice scales!
I like the pattern, and the finished knife, it's true that I don't know much about steel, but I do collect knives, so I've seen quite a few, so I know quality work when I see it.
Scissor steel is NOT garbage. My wife was a stylist for years. Some of her scissors cost upwards of $1000 per pair. The very high end ones held their edge for a year of constant use before needing to be resharpened. It's very high quality, and holds an edge very well. I loved the video.
Totally dig it! And I’m a custom knife maker myself. I’d say scissor steel is a good steel once the nickel is removed like you did. I don’t see a thing wrong with your build. Thanks for sharing it!
You did a video a while back of making a knife from numerous cold steel knives, I was thinking it would be interesting to take numerous cheap damascus amazon knives, forge weld them together in a canister, then use that billet as a jacket around a 1095 core. I imagine it would be quite the insane pattern.
The issue is, most of those Pakistani "damascus" knives are made from complete junk metals that are unhardenable. th-cam.com/video/UeeE9DyI52w/w-d-xo.html
That's why I'm saying forge them into a jacket around a core of 1095. That way you have a hard cutting edge of good known steel and a jacket of softer steel on the outside. San mai style!
What I think is you NAILED this build . Really nice job, all the way around. Video editing included. Scissor handle straight razor? Go for it with matching handle. Stay well and rock on !!!
I typically lurk..You record all of it.. It's not always all happies.. sometimes it all elbow grease to try and salvage so much time. The time it takes to get a simple billet of known steel. This step can be a crapshoot. For many many trying forge welds with what they have.. you have shon good practices. You have a press but you have also worked with a hammer. I've got nothing but respect. I would be honored, humbled, and happy to hammer with you if we ever crossed paths. I think we run similar paths Sir. I tip my hat!
I was a little surprised that the scissor steel turned out to be such a great edge. I really thought you were wasting your time there at first. NICE WORK!
You gotta think that professional leatherworkers are going to buy quality scissors. And a good blade is a good blade (at least at this kind of length).
Still catching up on older videos. This turned out fantastic. The the handle "texture" matched the blade perfectly and loved that green color. All in all, another grand one! 👍
Leather shears are drop-forged from high carbon, cutlery-grade steel. Safe to say it's good for knives and definitely not garbage.
Somebody buy this guy a beer for posting some actual facts and not being a gratuitous asshat! 👍👍

Scissor steel is garbage. Trust me, I'm a random TH-cam commentator.
This guy is legit, I have randomly commented before as well.
yeh but no but yeh, cos like he's gonna make the scissors out of a very top qualiteeeeeee expensive pionear knife. eh??
i know absolutely nothing about steel, but i was about the write the same comment, so, it must be real

I love how I see a post on Instagram and immediately go to TH-cam to see how it's been made this is so lovely to watch
I think you did one hell of a job . I loved the instructional and the handle is awesome . I'm an old timer and I'm impressed !!!!!!
Beautiful knife! Thanks for sharing your process and thoughts along the way :) It's really encouraging for a new blacksmith to see the pros getting over hurdles too.
Great looking knife, the handle material is really handsome. Anyone should be proud to carry this one.
As always Steve .
Great job and video
oh my god beautiful! Amazing work. Thanks for sharing your craft!
Nice job! I had no idea that scissor steel would harden like that. It would be great to get a piece tested to see what the alloy actually is.

Wait what! Green you got a mill! Never disappoint on the knives
wait, you mean to say you DON"T have a mill?
fishy38t nah man I got one. Just that green has never had a mill to my knowledge

ScissoRazor sounds like a great idea! Go for it!
If my friends asked me to forge something out of scissors I'd be cheeky about it and make a larger pair of scissors
