I. March we have a nice singing line (sonoro) in the centre-low register together with the violas. II. is challenging for the woodwinds. Again the whole horn section gets an amazing singing line unison with 1st Cello and 1st flute (!) VI. together with the violas, we rise up to a high concert D, fast arpeggio downwards in semiquavers and then a few bars further we have to descend to a low concert E (perhaps imitating the bear's growl??). The themes may have been devised by a youth, but the orchestrator is at the peak of his ability.
@@jamisonsanchez9372 Elgar went very well, it was also the music I was more familiar with (I have a bias towards Elgar, I wish the conductor had included in the next programme more of his compositions, maybe one of his two symphonies, the Enigma Variations or even some of the less known Pomp and Circumstance marches). We also played Grieg's symphonic dances and Dvorak's Eight symphony, the performance was acceptable but I wish we had more time to get better acquainted with these scores.
