You should be eligible for snap on either the insurance plan you have, or the unemployment. Always be proud enough to care for yourselves to put into the government taxes to get that food. Always care for yourself. Sickness of low food is no joke. It causes dementia. You sound like a giving soul.
I don't have my grandparents with me anymore, but watching the two of you reminds me so much of them. Really makes my heart smile. I miss them so much. You guys are a joy to watch. ❤
Hello, from Houston, TX! Another great video. I love your calm demeanors. It destresses me while I am working. You two are just lovely people, and I love that you are doing TH-cam in your senior freedom years! Praying for you both!
I’m so happy I found your channel. I love watching your videos. That’s a great prepping pantry. I always keep us prepped in my household also. You just never know when you will need to prepared.
In the video intro that’s a lot of processed food. I incorporate canned/boxed items with fresh items. Homemade chicken noodle soup is the most economical meal to fix. My method is to fix a big pot and freeze some. The same with homemade chili and beef stew.
Boy, Marie and Roy what a great deal at Piggly Wiggly. We don't have that store in Md. I just turned 80 and also prep because when it lets cold or nasty weather, i stay home and all the food I need. I plan for the winter, use up what I have and by summer I buy from local farmers. You're right about the soups. Sometimes not too hungry or don't feel like cooking. You did well
Nice haul, good price on drinks. I order my soup and milk by the case which is 12-15 of each. It is free to pick up in store at dollar tree. Their almond milk is good, needs to be shaken each time you use it. I add a can of sweeten condensed milk, a splash of vanilla and the almond milk or the 1% milk as homemade coffee creamer. I also mark the top of my cans after wiping down with the month and year they expire on top so it’s easier to use the nearest dates first. Blessings from Missouri❤
We've had unexpected bills come up at times and shelf stable pantry items and freezer stock were life savers!! I don't have a prepper pantry. But I keep a good stock of basics that we can always make meals from!! But I want to work on a bigger pantry!
I always appreciate others who continue to prep. I love your calm demeanor and willingness to share. We don't have a Piggly Wiggly here in NH, but I always hear good things about that store. Stay healthy and enjoy that bond of love you both share. Blessings and prayers.
We have been prepping the past couple years. It gives us a peace of mind, not only for us two but also to know that if our children should ever need anything in an emergency. I never looked for that shelf stable milk at Dollar tree, we will have to see if we have it at our store here, thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing your pantry with us! I am going to look for those turnip greens next time I put in an order at Walmart. I love that pantry milk from dollar tree...it is a real game changer for us having it. All the best to you both! 💗
Hello Calvin and Marie. I love to watch your grocery hauls and food prep videos. I certainly found out during hurricane Helene how important it is to have a stocked pantry. I’ve been thinking about Gerald a lot hoping he’s adjusting to his new room. God bless you both.
Great job! We got a Safeway that has 4 for $20. So we stock up on meats too. But we're going to make some homemade jerky with most of it. Thank you for sharing!
Question: When you're making food buying decisions for prepping do you factor in having a generator? I don't have a generator so I make my decisions based more on non perishables that don't require cooking. You can answer this question in a video if you prefer. Thankyou. :)
We sure do love those Turnip Greens as well! Piggly Wiggly was our go to store until our local one closed. We sure do miss it! Great haul! It's great to have extras!
I’m learning so much from ya’ll! Marie you are inspiring me to do more home cooking. 🙂I was at my community library today and they have a “used books for sale” section. They had several Southern Country cookbooks so I picked some up!!
Great haul. My Dollar Tree has been out of the whole milk too. We have biscuit and gravy at least once a month. And a carton of that milk, makes the perfect size pan of gravy for my family.
When buying your meat to freeze ask your butcher to “double wrap it for the freezer “ they are always happy oblige. Saves you time energy and a wee bit of cash because you aren’t having to do it later yourself.
We need a piggly wiggly shop here in the UK ! Sending you both blessings, this is one of the best most wholesome channels on You Tube. You both are wonderful x
Our pantries look very similar. I have also added laundrey detergent, soap, TP and PT, etc. Great idea in case of an emergencey. That shelf life milk is actually pretty good. TFS God Bless If you should lose power please have a nice generater for back up.
Found this channel a few weeks ago. What a wonderfull couple the two of you are. Found you because of the prepping. We live in Europe and we do prep too, cause you never know what happens :) Much love from the Netherlands
What a great haul ! W9sh i had a Piggly Wiggly close to me , that is a fantastic but on the meats and what a good buy on those drinks !! Blessings to you both from Tennessee!
In addition to your grocery shopping have you thought of going to a food pantry like a food bank that way you could stock up on extra canned goods as well.
I'm in the process of getting some new shelving for my overstock canned goods. I hope my niece will help with her truck this weekend! Ypur pantry looks great and that was a deal at P. Wiggly on meat & pop. Great job, I enjoy watching you from Indiana.
Our parents grandparents great grandparents always prepped here in ks & Minnesota..long winters, about end of July you start making totes of tomatoes, drinks- waters drink mixes like teas- cocoa-coffees fruit juices, , cereals, sauces condiments, boxed and sack pasta- rice potatoes, meats and thd biggy soups...or soup starters and fill the freezer with the staples, few roasts, turkeys, lots of chicken, lots of ground Mears like beef, pork- turkey, beef steak, grilling ribs, cold cuts & sandwich mears stuff, stew meats, hams, pork loins, pork steaks, cutlets, wings, whole nuggets, fish & shrimp types, veg in individual bags usually 45, nuts, bread doughs, cookie mixes, butter- margarines, cheeses, milks- creams and whipped topping, tv dinners- pot pies for the grand kids, and fruit to make smoothies. And get nuts- boxed fruits- trail mix - all the basics for doing cookies- cakes- pies & the oils. We don't mind filling the freezer we cook it first when a outage feed the whole neighborhood. It's the least we can do. We have smokers, bbqs all that freezer types...makes many meals for someone in need. We do tote up everything but a few needs on the shelf to bug out with, or donate easily. So we do love to make sure we get enough of tiny reg sized items that also are useful to us , church, family in need, and blessing boxes. We hace always see it as a duty to stock just what our needs are. We have delivery, shipping and go with family make a day of it picking out things. There are times we just buy fresh usually that's after easter- July we splurge on Sunday dinners and then fall back to we are making crockpot , freezer pan meals or grilling. But spot on. Get your favorites, stock with your budget. Curb your calories, portions as it's needed for health. As we age the food goes thru slower. That's why I recommend crockpots. Eat when you want on a ranch, and how much depends on what our needs are. Sometimes it's a complicated meal , sometimes it's tiny & mostly fresh. We do rotate the totes every 3 months, good clean out to donate in summer usually may & June- July when needs are great.
I'm glad to know about the milk at Dollar Tree. Kroger have sales on Pop all the time it seems all varieties & types especially the 4 packs. Just keep in mind. I'm interested in how you prepare chicken in the Air Fryer? I've had mine for several years & never opened the box.
Thank you for the sweet and thoughtful presentation. I also learned a few things like I did not know there was unrefrigerated boxed milk. Your choices in your canned goods are ones that I will try. Good job on teaching us how to have things in our pantry when we can't get out or don't feel like cooking. 💞🥫🥩🍗
I so enjoy watching your prepping videos and just the shopping you guys do. My appointment went well today I have to start back physical therapy when I get back home. Still praying for my son in law tomorrow for his drs appointment
Thanks for your video and reminding me to buy soups for when we are all sick. My disabled mom is sick right now . She lives with us . We are all heading into sick season.
Enjoyed seeing your stock items. I just happened to buy 2 of the whole milk at the dollar tree yesterday for my pantry for just in case. Wasn't sure if it was good, so I'm glad to hear you prefer it as well. Tfs, have a lovely day! 😊❤️🙏🏼🇺🇲
Your pantry is very well organized! It's easy for a pantry and preps to get out of hand, I know from personal experience lol. But it's truly a blessing to have items on hand. My pantry and preps have saved me time and money by keeping me from having to run to the store for ingredients because I usually have a little stock pile of the things I use over and over on hand. This was a great end of month shop and prep.
Great deal on the meat at Piggly Wiggly. There are No Piggly Wiggly stores in our town and no Piggly Wiggly stores in Washington state. I always enjoy your prepping & hauls videos. Thank you for explaining the part about buying items at the end of the month with extra money you have left. They are forecasting that the weather here in Washington state is going to have lots of snow & colder than normal temperatures this winter. I am stockpiling more than usual because I don’t like driving in snow & ice. I was born & raised in the South. Also, I have noticed my husband’s driving capabilities has declined (he is in his mid 70’s & I am in my mid 60’s).
Boy those cast pans are mighty pretty. We do fresh veg. and produce once a week too. Those were good buys on meat. I try to stay at 5/6 dollars a supper with the meat, always leftovers. Take Care, Deb.
Hi made your Chicken Enchilada Skillet it was so good and easy to cook. Had never used the red enchilada sauce it is very good. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Now to try making a peach cobbler
Hi! I watch your videos because they feel good. I’m a grandmother and great grandmother about your age living in Utah. I’ve been prepping all my adult life, and my parents before me did, too. It makes sense to me as a wise lifestyle.
I took you advice and had around $80 Canadian to spare, when I finished my monthly shopping. Prices here in Canada at least double the prices of your items. I watch for grocery deals & buy what I need. Nice to know you won't go hungry in an emergency. Thank you Marie & Calvin.
Hi Calvin and Marie :) Great video! Thank you for showing your pantry. I like how you put pudding mixes and different things in containers with lids. Great idea! Question: how do you meal plan? Do you make a plan for the week or take it one day at a time? Thanks! 😊
Maybe try keeping some freezer packs in your freezer it could keep your frozen stuff little longer if the power went out. Those freezer packs come in different sizes. God bless.
I enjoy your prepping haul videos, and the cooking videos you post using ingredients from your prepping pantry. I always try to add a little something to our pantry stash of canned goods. Last month I found a good deal on Amazon for a 24-count case of our favorite tomato sauce, so I ordered it and put in on the shelf. I wasn't out of it, but our Walmart doesn't always have it in stock, so I wanted to make sure I had plenty on hand for soups, stews and chili this winter.
Hi Calvin and Marie! Loved this video, great prepping tips! I really need to step up my game and refill my pantry. God Bless you both and look forward to seeing all your videos! Love from New Jersey!
Oh! You did so good on this end of the month haul. Like many have already stated, we also do not have a Piggly Wiggly in our town. I just like your videos and want to say congratulations on having 90k subscribers.
