Whenever I watch these SPO TASs, I just imagine what if there was just this little BEAST of a boxer just completely demolishing other boxers in a matter of 4-10 seconds EVERY TIME

@@nexxusty the fight itself isn't hard, but when Bob can dodge any of the 7 punches needed, as well as any extra ones as a result of the dodge, it can absolutely tank a run

It absolutely baffles me how fast this game can be beaten without any weird game-breaking glitches or exploits. Literally just playing the game as intended EXTREMELY WELL.
(And lots of RNG manipulation, but we don't talk about that)

Gabby Jay looks like this one gym teacher I had back in high school. It's eerie how similar the two of them are so the idea of Mac going to town on him is funny
Most other TAS's: Exploit glitches, bug the whole game out, and find a secret way to the ending
This one: Played completely legitimately
Imagine being a pro boxer with 4 world titles, 2:16 of total fight time and you've never taken a punch in your entire career
I love how both Super Macho Man and Nick Bruiser both got K.O.-ed at points where they're still trying to stay up, because it looks like they both went "Nah. Not going to win this one."
Great TAS, this game needs a remake on the Switch/Future Nintendo Console.

The fact that the slowest time in this run (Mr Sandman 13.13) is faster than the fastest time in MTPO (Don Flamenco 14.97) makes me realize that they must have made SPO easier bcuz of only having 1 round as opposed to 3

I have never seen a KO on Heike Kagero before. Every other playthrough I have seen (Not to mention my own experience) has to put him down thrice for the TKO.

as far as I know, the idea is certain opponents need to be knocked down 3 seconds after getting back up to be KOed

Surprisingly calm ending music for the type of game it is. Still a nice song though.
I remember how once I was having so much trouble with Hoy Quarlow that I came up with a precise series of inputs for the start of the fight. However, I didn't take advantage of his dizziness and as such it still took me 2 minutes to win.

a long time ago, I was playing this game on a mobile emulator, and on Rick Bruiser, I somehow knocked him down at around 6"60, faster than the time of 6"98 in this TAS. however, I've never beaten him faster than this TAS, which makes me wonder if it's possible that the reason the TAS gets the first knockdown later is because of game mechanics I don't understand
I feel like this has something to do with RNG manipulation, if you are not lying.
Rick Bruiser's 3rd phase has that RNG element where he can dodge the last super punch and turn the fight to somewhere around 16 seconds.
Edit: I'm watching Mr.Sandman now, and there ARE some delays in punches in some of these fights, especially super punch on Sandman, most likely so that it isn't dodged by the opponent.
It is possible that your mobile emulator either didn't have lag or was simply inaccurate. But it's probably because of some knockdown stuff or something.
That sounds more like a case of inaccurate emulation than anything else.
This happened because you were most likely playing on the PAL version of Super Punch-Out, you might have also done Left body blows somewhere instead of right body blows (which you can't do) because even then you can't beat phase one that fast (I think)
@@Gamer27King I think it's a combination of things, because I wouldn't have played it on PAL. it's probably a combination of inaccurate emulation (this was back at least 5 years ago, if not longer, on a mobile emulator no less, lord knows how archaic the emulator was) It's also possible that even though I could get the knockdown faster, it ultimately would led to a slower time due to Rick being Rick. I do know there's at least a few times in the TAS where it delays on certain punches instead of doing them right away (see Bear Hugger as an example), and this leads to blazing fast times.

Serious question: if this is being done through TAS, why still use buffer strats? Aren’t those not needed if you’re doing inputs one frame at a time?
I think it was just because that's what they wanted to do. It doesn't hurt to use the buffer strats since the timer is frozen while the opponent is stunned, so why _not_ do them?

I never reized how cheap the audio sounded. You've got birds in the building and the music sounds like it was processed through a sega genesis.
Your right, now that you mention it, this quality is subpar for the snes. Closing your eyes, you could believe it was a genesis title. Very few come out sounding like Sonic The Hedgehog.

Is a KO possible on Bald Bull, Sandman, Mad Clown, Hoy, or Nick or do they always get up on the second knock down no matter what you do?
Sandman will always get up for one Dreamland Express.(three uppercuts), and I am not sure but Hoy probably will too. And Clown for one Show Time, and Bald Bull for one Bull Charge.
We probably can knock Rick Bruiser out in 2 knockdowns if we ever find a way to knock him down a second time in 3 seconds after he gets up(This TAS is .01 seconds away from doing so), that's how most of these guys work. Nick Bruiser *is* knocked out in 2 knockdowns in this TAS, and human speedrunners, as it is not something special in the TAS.
Bald Bull, Mad Clown, and Sandman can never be KOed but Hoy and Nick can be KOed but need precise timing in order to do it

Don't know why they chose Aran Ryan as a returning character in the Wii version. Certainly there must've been someone more interesting, like Narcis Prince, Hoy Quarlo or one/both of the Bruiser Bros.
He's probably the least offensive one to the audience, and he has been retconned to be an absolute fan-favorite for some people, so nothing wrong with him.
Don't forget that Bear Hugger, Bald Bull, and Super Macho Man are also in this game and the Wii remake, and while Bull and Macho were in the original, Bear Hugger was not

was mostly a sarcastic comment but if he used an uppercut to knock him down it would save 28 *real time* frames, which dont matter but are typically aimed for in a tas specifically, I think he was just mistaken that low super was faster
