To be a child in this time hearing this music was magical. Had no inkling what was going on lyricaly but the way music was recorded back then made me a music lover for life:)
"Ball Of Confusion," "Psychedelic Shack," "Cloud Nine," "Run Away Child, " for a few other of their songs. Their real big ones were "My Girl," and " I Wish It Would Rain."
Hey Biz!!! Been out of commission for awhile here in Western NC after Hurricane Helene, then I fell and broke 2 ribs a few weeks ago, messed up my shoulder & my knee. THEN I found out 2 of my daughters are expecting with due dates 4 days apart & the youngest is having twins AND all 3 babies are boys!!! It’s been a busy but stressful few months. Please continue to send prayers to this area because folks are far from getting back to normal. I love this song!! It’s always been one of my favorites ♥️🎶 Great to see you again!!
Still praying for Western North Carolina! 🙏 And best wishes to you and yours! Especially with 3 new babies coming. Will keep you in my prayers. Heal soon! ❤
This is only one of the great Norman Whitfield compositions. Some others are: "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" "You're My Everything" "I Wish It Would Rain" "Cloud Nine" "I Can't Get Next to You" "Ball of Confusion (That's What the World Is Today)" "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" "I Know I'm Losing You" "Car Wash" "Smiling Faces Sometimes" "War" "I Heard It Through the Grapevine"
Cool! There were a lot of crossover hits in the seventies. Bear in mind that back then the internet did not exist and there were only a handful of television stations. People read newspapers everyday and still read books. And there were no cell phones. More to the point, there were radios everywhere. Today many people have a television set in every room in their house. Back then they had a radio in every room in the house. But the most important radios were the radio in the kitchen, the radio in the garage, and the radio in the car. Those were the radios that played the music people listened to while they worked household chores and the like, weaving the music directly into the fabric of everyday life. And back then headphones were expensive, so listening to music was a shared experience, not a solipsistic endeavor cut off from the world. The music produced back then had to be greater than good because the audience came highly prepared to listen to it and ready to reject the stinkers, confident that a better song would arrive soon.
It must be wild for all those studio musicians to know that they're part of the biggest musical classics that are now legendary. But I'm sure they didn't see it that way at the time, it was probably just a regular job for them.
It's just sad they don't make music like this anymore. So much soul and that 70's guitar groove sets it off for me. Love the Temptations , keep diving in :)
This smooth song, the epitome of Cool Soul was in the soundtrack of my youth. We had the most awesome music back in the day. Glad those coming up next are discovering !
The Temptations were live on the View today 12/17. Its the 60th Anniversary of their biggest hit, "My Girl" There is only one of the original group still with us. But I have to say, they still sound fantastic and are dressed to perfevtion and as smooth as ever. Always a class act. Still touring. Great intrumental sounds on this song.......and the vocals are out of this world!. Ah, the music from my generation lives on forever.
I remember this song from back in the day and you’re right, it does sound like something that would’ve been a soundtrack behind a 1970s Harlem or Chicago Southside movie setting. What I love about it is that the instruments get as much focus as the vocals. I don’t listen to much modern music, but I feel like what I have heard is all autotuned vocals & electronic instruments. So glad this old time music is still around for you young whippersnappers to discover & enjoy! 😅
This is later Motown. "Wah-Wah Watson on the guitar, probably Bob Babbit on bass (it doesn't have the feel of Jamerson to me, but I might be wrong) Maurice Davis' trumpet lines and Earl Van Dyke on the Fender Rhoads are just a few of the great musicians on this track. I love your reactions to the music that has been the soundtrack to my life and times 🤘 Tioraidh an-drasta Alba gu bràth 🏴
I think the bass is disputed. Pretty sure I saw or read an interview with Bob Babbitt where he said that it was originally Jamerson on the session but that he walked out at some point and BB was called in. Even he wasn't sure who was in the final mix. Thought it was himself but not certain.
I was 21 when this song came out. Growing up in Detroit, on WKNR, CKLW, this was just one genre we listened to and loved. I have that CD you showed. Granted all the great groups have new people, but they can't hold a candle to the originals.
Dude I was in the 80's and my father would always play this song. I'm white, but Italian from Miami, Florida, so I didn't really have much relation to white culture, so we're the other whites...with better taste in music Loved the Daryl's House version, but this was the one I grew up on
I cant imagine any cover version would be better than this! I'm glad you liked it. Love your reaction, but your singing has got to go! You could turn your mike off while you're singing. It's kind of embarrassing. Have you listened to it? Lol!
Yes, the Temptations were the originals 1972. Never lost its coolness ❤
This song was written for the Temps, and they did a phenomenal job with it.Lead by the great Dennis Edward's.
To be a child in this time hearing this music was magical. Had no inkling what was going on lyricaly but the way music was recorded back then made me a music lover for life:)
One of the most amazingly produced songs I've ever heard.
Man. Come on. That is too cool. The different voices sound like family members telling the story
"Ball Of Confusion," "Psychedelic Shack," "Cloud Nine," "Run Away Child, " for a few other of their songs. Their real big ones were "My Girl," and " I Wish It Would Rain."
Classic!
This is the version I grew up hearing in the 70's. These guys were the real deal. So good! Thanks for sharing it.
Yes the temptations!

Song reminds me of AM radio and Christmas time around when this came out. One of the greatest AM band songs from back in the day!
Musical Renaissance. Exactly
Such a Classic. Great Performance. Love it ❤
Awesome song! A groove escape. And that chorus.
So glad you enjoyed this one. ❤
Funky funky, yeah, this is it
Total groove!
Trumpet is huge it tells the story as well as the Singers.
In 1972, UNDISPUTED TRUTH was the original artists but The Temptations also recorded it in 1972, it was considered the most popular.
When a song starts with Bass or drums 95% of the time it is a huge hit! and with Motown if it had a Sax, it was a hit! Like a secret recipe.
Try I Wish It Would Rain, Treat Her Like A Lady , Ball Of Confusion , and Cloud Nine. But there are so many hits Great reaction nice Jam
We need more groups like this today. So many good groups back in the day.❤

Oh yes, the great Temptations . You will never go wrong with this group . Another Temptations hit was My Girl, I highly recommend it 🔥🔥🔥
This smooth song, the epitome of Cool Soul was in the soundtrack of my youth. We had the most awesome music back in the day. Glad those coming up next are discovering !
An oldie and goodie! Hi Biz😊
So pleasant to the ear

I grew up with Motown in the UK, and this was as good at it gets, everyones a Gem.

This was the shortened radio version. There is a longer version on the album. This was at the height of quadrophonic sound.
Yes!
The Temptations were one of the greatest groups ever
1990? 1967 here. Loved watching Soul Train when I was 7 yo back in deep SC. And it was deep.
6:08 that change from the bass drum being on the 2 and 4 to 1 and 3. Don’t know how many people notice.
Phenomenal Song!
This is the ORIGINAL! 😎
Great Pick❤
All he left us, was alone ....
one of my favorite songs of all time, not too many reactions to this masterpiece.
I love the intro to this song. My fave tempations song evah!

Great song the song was originally by the undisputed Truth
HE'S BACK!!!!
So glad your on this🎉 grew up with soul train🎉
Great song! The live version is worth checking out!
There’s a group called Was (Not Was) that was popular in the 90s that did a GREAT cover of this! Even if you don’t react to it, it’s worth a listen!
True story , except for the date we'll the month , only they could do what they do. Fantastic ❤
HERE.
Great song! Temptations were awesome!
Great band, great song.
temptations were the original but the band backing them up was the motown band that were on all those motown hits known as the funk brothers !
Vibe for the ages, but the album version is almost 12 mins long….if you haven’t heard it, it’s even more epic than this shortened version…
Always thought this was sly and the family stones. Always learning something new.
Should check out the Temptations Power-pure fire!!
stone classic
It was the third of September
I prefer this over the long version.
Dude I was in the 80's and my father would always play this song. I'm white, but Italian from Miami, Florida, so I didn't really have much relation to white culture, so we're the other whites...with better taste in music
Loved the Daryl's House version, but this was the one I grew up on
This is the only version I know about
Crash course to wah wah pedal, add a Cream or Hendrix song and there you have it.
❤ ❤ ❤
Ball of confusion / psycadelic shack🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
👌🏻
Brother you need to go back and listen to curtis mayfield soundtrack to Superfly. Masterpiece
Great song, but why are you starving us?
⚡🌹💀🌹⚡
It was their song first
I cant imagine any cover version would be better than this! I'm glad you liked it. Love your reaction, but your singing has got to go! You could turn your mike off while you're singing. It's kind of embarrassing. Have you listened to it? Lol!
Papa was a depressing man.
This is the temps song the originat written by Motown writers, the rollingstones copied it no so good!!!
