Man... I mean, I know you're younger then me, but dang... U are from USA, mate, how could you never hear of The Temptations, man, they are OG legends... Thank you for doing this one!
Hi bro - that was our time - the 70s - that's how we danced in our discos - in Germany too. In those disco days, after work, after showering and getting ready for the Didko, I rarely slept for 5 hours a night. On the dance floor at 7:30 p.m., except for a snack in the local pub, danced through until 2/3 a.m., got in the car, drove home, showered and was in the sales room at 9 a.m. selling carpets and rugs to my customers. In the evening, the same ritual again. Until 1977 - that's when I met my wife in the same disco and in May 1978 we got married. That's 46 years now...
The full album version of this is more than twelve minutes long and it is an epic slice of wonderfulness. It was also covered very well by Was Not Was in the Eighties
Oh the memories, a Sunday morning. Mom doing the ironing on all of the Motown artists from these guys , Smokey Robinson and the miracles, Stevie Wonder , The Supremes to name a few. Grew up on Motown ❤❤❤.
Please find the musical showdown between the Four Tops and the Temptations in the Apollo theatre.Believe me you wll thoroughly appreciate it.This is our teenage years.😊
The seventies and eighties were the most successful for me!! The music I heard the most was from the strong bands of Motown with soul song music and later disco, with the basses and tweeters, which were part of its qualities, such as the temptations, the o'jays and singers like Marvin Gaye and James Brown with a sex machine. They don't sing like that anymore, with words and meaning and they really aren't performed by bands with big voices and accompanied by an orchestra with a crazy lineup of musicians like it used to be, everything has become synthetic and electronic. A completely different era!!!
One of the best songs ever! Glad I grew up when this was still on the radio. Again a black artist/group you never heard of which surprises me every time! I mean: HOW??? I live in The Netherlands, we didn't have many radio stations or TV and I even know this! :) LJ
Joining the wave of longer, more cinematic, more sophisticated, orchestral based tunes, this was easily the equal of Isaac Hayes Theme from Shaft, the wilder regions of Curtis Mayfield's storytelling or Barry White's entire ouevre. That you have never heard this is a suprise as it was a big hit on release and has been rereleased more than a few times.
Sup my bro hope all is well and to everyone reading this hello from New Zealand

I really don't think this is the original version but rather some sort of recreation. But the tune is awesome yet! You need to check more of The Temptations...
Don’t react every two seconds , most people watching know this song already , give the song a chance. You lost me when you said sometimes less is more , when referring to the intro . Don’t feel pressured to put on a performance , relax , less is more.
Can't really be against the lyrics. Some kids had to go though crap like this. - And that is the message: Be a better person, and definitely chose a better person to have a child with. The only thing is that generations seem to have been too caught up in the phenomenal music to pay attention to what they were saying. - A lot of "rolling stones" have danced their asses off to this.

This one falls into the "How on God's green earth have you not heard this before?" You're not even a young man.

Also the lead singer, Levi Stubbs, provided the voice for the evil alien plant in Little Shop Of Horrors...
Ignore me. That's the Four Tops. Duh.

"Get Ready" by The Temptations is probably my favourite Motown tune.

Dennis Edwards refused to sing the song at first because his dad actually died on the 3rd of september. But the writers did not want to change it

It was conceived as a warning not to be like Papa, be a responsible father, don't let your kids down.
