Hi bro - that was our time - the 70s - that's how we danced in our discos - in Germany too. In those disco days, after work, after showering and getting ready for the Didko, I rarely slept for 5 hours a night. On the dance floor at 7:30 p.m., except for a snack in the local pub, danced through until 2/3 a.m., got in the car, drove home, showered and was in the sales room at 9 a.m. selling carpets and rugs to my customers. In the evening, the same ritual again. Until 1977 - that's when I met my wife in the same disco and in May 1978 we got married. That's 46 years now...
Man... I mean, I know you're younger then me, but dang... U are from USA, mate, how could you never hear of The Temptations, man, they are OG legends... Thank you for doing this one!
The instrumentation was provided by the fabulous Funk Brothers. They were a group of Detroit jazz musicians that Berry Gordy assembled to be the Motown house band. This was a monster hit and, despite the length of the recording, it was constantly played on radio. Thanks for the great reaction to a classic. 👏👏👏🥰
Oh the memories, a Sunday morning. Mom doing the ironing on all of the Motown artists from these guys , Smokey Robinson and the miracles, Stevie Wonder , The Supremes to name a few. Grew up on Motown ❤❤❤.
The seventies and eighties were the most successful for me!! The music I heard the most was from the strong bands of Motown with soul song music and later disco, with the basses and tweeters, which were part of its qualities, such as the temptations, the o'jays and singers like Marvin Gaye and James Brown with a sex machine. They don't sing like that anymore, with words and meaning and they really aren't performed by bands with big voices and accompanied by an orchestra with a crazy lineup of musicians like it used to be, everything has become synthetic and electronic. A completely different era!!!
The full album version of this is more than twelve minutes long and it is an epic slice of wonderfulness. It was also covered very well by Was Not Was in the Eighties
I’m always thrilled when I see someone react to this song. It totally blows everybody’s mind when they hear it for the first time. So glad you enjoyed it.😊
Do yourself a service and watch The Temptations miniseries, it's free on Tubi. It was originally on VH1 back in the day, such a good watch. These men went through many trials, tribulations, and iterations.
One of the best songs ever! Glad I grew up when this was still on the radio. Again a black artist/group you never heard of which surprises me every time! I mean: HOW??? I live in The Netherlands, we didn't have many radio stations or TV and I even know this! :) LJ
I gave you a like and hit the Bell I'm 56 years old my father is 80 years old and I know exactly how that feels 2 years ago I found out that I had a couple other siblings my mom had three kids but now I found out three kids from another woman three more kids from that same woman and I found out three little kids from another woman in Canada he was a singer guitar player she's always traveling so now I'm a part of 12 kids I have five brothers and six sisters put the thing that my father gave us we can all sing where are in the music business have a group called five Kings my sisters have a group called Queens of loyalty
Please find the musical showdown between the Four Tops and the Temptations in the Apollo theatre.Believe me you wll thoroughly appreciate it.This is our teenage years.😊
Joining the wave of longer, more cinematic, more sophisticated, orchestral based tunes, this was easily the equal of Isaac Hayes Theme from Shaft, the wilder regions of Curtis Mayfield's storytelling or Barry White's entire ouevre. That you have never heard this is a suprise as it was a big hit on release and has been rereleased more than a few times.
I miss the 70s - & 60s music the most ! I was a kid in the 70s. We were less uptight than, not like today where w the younger generations you can’t say anything to anybody! The pendulum has swung the other way, completely, IMO
Don’t react every two seconds , most people watching know this song already , give the song a chance. You lost me when you said sometimes less is more , when referring to the intro . Don’t feel pressured to put on a performance , relax , less is more.

I really don't think this is the original version but rather some sort of recreation. But the tune is awesome yet! You need to check more of The Temptations...
Can't really be against the lyrics. Some kids had to go though crap like this. - And that is the message: Be a better person, and definitely chose a better person to have a child with. The only thing is that generations seem to have been too caught up in the phenomenal music to pay attention to what they were saying. - A lot of "rolling stones" have danced their asses off to this.
Sorry to be rude to you, but you talk too much. Just listen instead of giving your life exoeriences. Its their's not yours. You interupt far toooo much
There are 3 musical groups You've got to listen to first THE DELL I Can Sing a Rainbow Second THE ORIGINALS Baby I'm For Real Third THE DRAMATICS In The Rain
One of the greatest songs ever performed: any genre, anytime, anywhere. Period.
Boom
No man, they dont make em like this anymore. What a blessing to grow up in that era

He didn't know MOTOWN???
This one falls into the "How on God's green earth have you not heard this before?" You're not even a young man.
😂
He didn't know MOTOWN???
I am 63 and I was there. Those tempting Temptations were a force to be reckoned with. The Funk Brothers are responsible for this masterpiece.
One of the ten best songs in the world.
You NEED to listen to ALL the Temptations!

The Temptations are an absolutely fantastic group, so smooth and stylish, incredible talent, love love love them ❤❤❤

"Get Ready" by The Temptations is probably my favourite Motown tune.
Dennis Edwards refused to sing the song at first because his dad actually died on the 3rd of september. But the writers did not want to change it
According to Otis Norman Whitfield did that on purpose to put fire and pain in Dennis' voice.
Mate, I'm English and i blast this out most days while im driving my work van.

Also the lead singer, Levi Stubbs, provided the voice for the evil alien plant in Little Shop Of Horrors...
Ignore me. That's the Four Tops. Duh.
I felt the same way back in the day, amazing song & it's just gotten better over the years.
My question has always been" all he left us was alone or A Loan ?"
A real Masterpiece. 🎶🎶🎶👍
Born under a rock, are we?
He didn't know MOTOWN???
I’m always thrilled when I see someone react to this song. It totally blows everybody’s mind when they hear it for the first time. So glad you enjoyed it.😊
In the song the mother only says he was a rolling stone. All the other stuff was gossip the kids heard from other people in the town
Do yourself a service and watch The Temptations miniseries, it's free on Tubi. It was originally on VH1 back in the day, such a good watch. These men went through many trials, tribulations, and iterations.
When music was music 🎶
sound's like musik in my ears.
It was conceived as a warning not to be like Papa, be a responsible father, don't let your kids down.

You can thank the writer/producer for the psychedelic soul movement. His is the late, great, legend Norman Whitfield. A genius.❤❤❤❤
You should watch The Temptations movie. Incredible.
