  • Original plan of a 60 mile section hike from Wolf Creek Pass to Weminuche Pass turned into a 43 mile hike with a bailout at Squaw Pass due to an injury. It was still a 5-day trip but we didn't want to take any chances up in more rugged terrain. We will be back!
Side note: The amount of snow travel was a bit unexpected and brutal, and was a determining factor in the cause of the knee injury and how we wanted to approach the remainder of the trip.
All in all, it was a great and challenging hike (FYI: the CDT in Colorado is no joke) and we can't wait to return.

Excellent video! Did that same stretch a few weeks after y’all. Didn’t have as much snow but it rained every day and night! Still, overall, was a great and beautiful trip! That area between Cherokee lake and Squaw Pass got my knees hurting also, but I managed to get to Weminuche trail before the blisters on my soaking wet feet got to me! Heading back in a few weeks to continue on. Good luck, stay safe!

What a fine document of the kind of place many of us might see in photographs from dozens of miles away (much as you show the peaks in the far distance) but never get a true sense of what it's like to be right in the heart of. So great to understand what such terrain is really like. Thanks for a very well-edited record of this part of your journey. The soundtrack also hit all the right notes. Which is to say it never got in the way, yet added to the overall feel of such a dramatic and tranquil place.
