Someone needs to try putting another 400k miles on it, see how long it actually lasts
Battery? Probably would get to around 60% range. I wouldn't do that to a car though, - second hand battery swaps are becoming more common for cheaper than new. Drive train? With oil changes? Probably would last another 400K. Electronic components such as screen... I doubt it. But id say that car could last atleast another 150K
@@DS9FANINDADEFIANTOil changes? Teslas do not require or use oil.
@OCT94 I'd reccomend a gearbox oil change despite tesla saying "lifetime oil"
Average fossil fuel car is scrapped at 107,000 miles in the UK, 160k in the USA 👍
@@davefitzpatrick4841 I don't think the mileage matters too much it's mostly about the age of a vehicle, batteries degrade year on year whether you use them or not. Plenty of 20+year ICE cars running around and not all of them have alot of miles on the clock
I bought an 85D with over 200,000 miles on it 18 months ago. It's now done 260,000 and drives very well. The range and performance is still very good. Charge speeds don't match the newer cars though. I did upgrade the screens and processor early last year and having checked the service history and found nothing major has been changed on my car, I've started to refresh the suspension components. I changed the wiper motor and linkage last August, as it is the spindles that wear and cause the damage to the bonnet. I took it down to southern Italy for six weeks last October/November. The free supercharging made the 5,500 miles covered in France, Switzerland and Italy very affordable. Its a very comfortable car for long trips too.
by now we should be seeing some 1000+ mile teslas, theyve been out for a few years now
Wdym 1000+ miles you talking about range?
@@mcsike7264
Maybe he means 1 million?
Dr evil - ‘1 millllion’
Soon it will break and it won’t move, they always do. Probably had multiple repairs under warranty, now no warranty
Highlights the touchscreen issues for all cars
I'm hearing more and more stories about those older Model S - for an EV they still pack a punch, have a solid range and they just. keep. going.
And then theres the free supercharging for life. That in itself is worth thousands of bucks per year.
This would have saved the taxi driver around £37k
Whatsup O.T. Genasis
Haters going to say its fake.
yes i do i bought a 90 d 2017 with 100k super car!!
Ok, but why not fix it?
The value of the car now its close to none..
Electric cars with a battery pack, will never replace petrol/diesel cars…
I think it would only happen if hydrogen cars go foward on the market…
Better to keep a corolla hybrid… probably will last 1 million miles without many issues.. and never worried about being stuck somewhere…
Unfortunately when it hits 30% degradation on the battery it shuts off and doesn't let you go any further till it's changed. Not long till it will need another battery but with free supercharging it's probably paid for itself
Complete rubbish, most warranties kick in around 30% , but there are plenty of Nissan leafs going ( 2011 version out of warranty) with well over 30% degradation and still perfectly usable but with limited range .
God knows where people like you get this b/s from !
@davefitzpatrick4841 Do you even own a tesla? I have two model S. If you don't have first hand experience then don't comment. Your assumptions are the only rubbish comments.
I an oldie but a goodie👌👌
I wouldn’t buy an EV in general but a high mileage one is just asking for trouble it would literally be more cost effective to buy one brand new or a certified pre owned 1-2 year old model
Yup thats a car alright!
Surprised the battery still works tbh
Batteries often outlive the lifetime of the Car in EVs tbf
Electric cars they only are good in warranty time… after that its like a bomb counting down! You never know when the battery dies…
So the same as a fossil fuel car ?
Average warranty on fossil fuel car 5 years or 60,000 miles, average warranty on a EV 8 years or 100,000 miles.
In the UK.
The average fossil fuel car in the UK is scrapped at 107,000 miles.
The average age of a car on UK roads 8 4 years, my own EV is 8 years old with 90% battery health and mechanically sound, I've had plenty of Ice cars this age that were falling to pieces and became unaffordable to keep on the road .
I wouldn’t even buy a new EV chap
That’s incredible
No😢
How much is it worth now?
As far as I know a Model S like this sits somewhere around 15000 pounds, possibly more.
Remember though, these older Model S come with lifetime free supercharging.
And their original price was somewhere around or above 100000 pounds.
10p and a pack of crisps
8.600.- euros
I wouldn’t buy a used electric car, forget about a high mileage one.
So happy my model s plaid has 4500 km long life to him
Never will I ever buy a second hand ev. If I have my way I won’t have an ev at all.
Has the battery never been replaced and did you actually test the 200 miles or just assume that 70% was valid? It never is on highly cycled battery systems in general.
Yes this has the ORIGINAL battery and drive unit motor. "assume that 70% was valid" Yes it's very valid. 70% battery health is quite bad, any worse it would have problem functioning. Seems like you have no clue the scale means.
@@Neojhun How do you know this, did you drive this car 200 miles? My company designs and manufactures products with li-ion batteries and the worse cells have 250 cycles and the best 500 cycles before being 70% as specified by the cell manufacturers. Teslas data and their honesty is highly questionable and battery systems become very poor at estimating life the more degraded that the cells are.
@@kevinchadwick8993maybe watch the other videos in this series. The range Rory references is the one he got on a range test.
And do the batteries your firm manufacturers have the management systems around them that most EVs do?
@@stephenclutton Yeah I just did and the fundamental cell level cycles should mean a far less range. I expected less than 100 miles. I very rarely see real world degradation tests such as the leaf on top gear that got 37 miles, which makes more sense to me. Cell manufacturers specs are based on good thermal conditions too so 187 miles is very hard to believe to be honest. I assume the owner has no reason to lie about it being the original battery. Hopefully Autotrader will do more degradation tests for more ev vehicle makes as I would never buy anything from a company run by Elon in any case.
@@kevinchadwick8993 well there's plenty of info out there which mainly concludes that EV batteries are lasting better than was expected. However, it sounds like your not liking Elon Musk (I don't blame you) is shaping your opinion more than the engineering.
Never... if only given to me.
بسیار خوب❤❤❤❤سابسکرایب کردم
😴😴😴
No!!! The car needs scrapping!!!
Give it back to tesla for refurbishment...
Otherwise wed keep on repeating the same patern of dumping our cars again..
I wouldn't even take a new one for free. Too much of a headache to fuel on trips and almost impossible if you live in an apartment.
OK how are they a headache to fuel especially tesla ?
@@mcsike7264tbf I’m sure if you attempted to put fuel in it that would go very poorly indeed
@@ryanevans2655 lmao
You've never driven one yet researched the super charger network where you can stop for a break after driving for 3 hours.
No !
Yes If I drove a car and yes a Tesla
I wouldn't buy a high mileage car period, let alone a Tesla falling appart
LOL Hardly falling apart. That's just got minor issues but still going strong. It's like you ignored the video.
@@Neojhun no, it's like I have a different perspective and hold cars to different standards. For a car that age, to me it's falling apart.
The car is doing great for that mileage and has never needed maintenance.
I'd buy it for 2k
For that price you can get a very shiny and big toy replica.
Cheapskate.
The free supercharging alone is worth more.
The guy literally runs a taxi service, he'll make more than that in a month..
Yeah i buy it for 5K
No, you don't. Pony up some more.
