That was a master stroke by Ford by adding real wood and wood veneers to the interior. It gave the car a touch of class as did the steering wheel treatment.
Beautiful example of a Cortina 1600E , just watching the video took me back to 1969 , My Dad who was a Ford enthusiast , added a brand new 1969 1600E to his 1966 Cortina GT ,he bought the 1600E with lotus suspension in London and drove it straight to Pakistan . It was white just like yours ,but I remember it having pin stripes and those Mod Bullet style wing Mirrors in vogue at the time .Thanks for uploading the video it was a treat for a Nostalgia freak .
Hi, my dad had a very special 2 door 1600e, in red . It was first owned by a big wig in Fords. My dad drove it to Portugal, sadly it got stolen in Essex in 1970 never got it back such a pity as it was so nice.
These videos brings back so many memories. My dad had the 1500GT mk2 and my brother had a two door 1600GT in Dragoon Red rhat he sold me. Where has the time gone???
Surprised that such a reputable company should describe this car as Mk 2 1600e! As there had not been a Mk 1 1600e, this description is incorrect. The position is that Ford launched a Series 1 1600e initially, then later the Series 2. The Mk2 description relates to subsequent Cortina’s, such as the Mk 2 GT, estate, two and four door saloons and of course the Mk 2 Lotus Cortina.

My favourite Cortinas are the Mk II and the Mk IV. I don't know why, since I've never had the pleasure of seeing either up close or in person.
We like Cortina's here too!
@@KGFClassicCars I've visited England twice in my lifetime, and while I've seen some cool classic cars whilst there, I've never seen a Cortina.

It is a mk 2. Cortina people can see it’s a cortina. 1600 E. so what’s your point. It’s a cortina mk 2 1600 E to be precise.
What on earth is your point?
That's nice man , always want to get one , but very hard to find here in Sydney Australia and you pay top dollar for them too
Yes I bet. Prices strong here too.
69muscat You can pay top money for them in the uk. Ive just bought one.
Immaculate.......
Thank you!
This car reminds me of the Datsun Bluebird (PL510) of the same vintage.
Actually quite nice. that was a weird design putting mirrors on the wings of cars
Hence why they are could wing mirrors!
Awesome
Thank you!
Funny thing cortina means curtain in spanish, I guess the executives at Ford like the sound of the cortina
Thank you for sharing!
Cortina was also a place name
Ford Capri.
Cortina is Italian city home of Winter Olympics in 1956. Car named for that
It was named after the town of Cortina d’ampezo in the Italian Dolomites
White was never a good colour for these cars, except for the rare Lotus version of the MK2.
