Thanks for posting this video! I was _just_ trying to figure out the difference between my two vintage 1971 US Games yellow box decks and your video appears in my suggestion feed! How serendipitous! Weirdly, I have the same two decks you're showcasing today...although, my Blushing Magician is a 10th printing, while yours is a 7th. I didn't even _realize_ that my other 1971 Blushing Fool was a 1st edition?! Wth?! I found it in a junk shop and paid $4.88 USD for it...what luck?! Thank you for bringing some joy by way of pleasant surprise into my afternoon! Automatic sub!
I love your sense of humor LOL! Hello this is a box... Ahhhhhh! Also, I am so impressed by your one handed opening of that bag. That is some serious skill! Another great find. I have an early edition blushing fool that Brant hooked me up with that I LOOOOVE! TAROT NAPKINS! I WANT THEM!
The BF decks are more color saturated over all. Especially the reds as you pointed out. I have this first edition as well and I have not seen one that rivals it. The detail in the wings of Temperance are stunning in this deck. The line work seems more refined overall. I wonder why they muted the reds after that first printing? It would be interesting to see your new study deck compared to this BF deck. Thanks for sharing, fresh out of the box! Anne
Blushing fools are great. I've got a couple blue box ones, and I know they're in the Weiser decks (although I've had a devil of a time tracking those down), but I haven't seen too many from the early USG boxes. I was tickled that this one was!
I have the same 1st edition BF and wonder if it is any different than the Blue Box edition? Blue Box folks claim the card stock is more buttery. What do you think? Anne
I spotted the Tarot Classic deck listed in your 1st ed LWB, one of my favorite-ever USG decks. So fun! One of the things about most (all?) yellow box editions and some blue box printings is that somewhere along the line, several of the faces got turned a saturated pumpkin orange. It shows up most distinctly on the Page of Swords (whose entire hair-do is also bright orange), Queen of Swords, and also on the Nine of Cups and a few other of the minors. Do either of these have the issue with solid orange skin tones?
Ugh, I know. The increasing color saturation has turned most Rider deck complexions to a shade only Donald Trump could love. However, I do find that the 1970s and 1980s decks do tend to have very nice coloration, especially with skin tones.
OMG! You found me FAST! I'm really glad you liked it. I felt so awkward doing it...and I think I may need to invest in a tripod or a stand or something. Moving things around with one hand is really awkward.
Melissa Zupan a little tripod is helpful! Also I rummaged through my decks and found that I have a blushing fool with the 6th printing of the LWB so I guess either the printing problem lasted longer than the first printing or they had more blushing fool decks stored away somehow or my deck has the wrong LWB.
@@moonbabytarot Yeah, I saw in your "All about the Yellow Box RWS" video that you mentioned your 6th LWB Fool was lightly blushing. I couldn't tell from the video, though. I'd love to see a clear image of that compared to your Weiser Blushing Fools. It's entirely likely that the Blushing Fool lasted through 6 printings of the LWB. The LWBs were printed separately in the US and in much smaller runs so that USG could keep adding to the products list as they were created. They probably ran through a lot of small printings in the first few years. Totally not like today...I feel like we've been in LWB 60 for like 15-ish years now.
Are colors important in reading Tarot? Honestly, I printed Tarot cards on cardboard. They became Tarot cards, but without colors, only in white, black and gray. Are my readings on the non-colored cards correct ??😔😔
They're as important as you want to make them. For some things, the color does play an important role in the symbol. But honestly? You can do just fine with a black and white deck. One of my favorite decks of all time is a black and white.
Do you know which edition when it says from Stamford CT, the person that is selling it says it's between the 80's to 90's the one that was published in 86 edition. But im so unsure, until I actually see it, it does have the inbs number on it up the side of the box without a barcode. Nice decks...
US Games Systems, Inc has been at Stamford longer than it has been at any address. If it has a Stamford address on it, it can't be any earlier than 1988. But there's a very wide range between the first Stamford boxes and those made today.
I would love to see them come back out with a deck without the copyright on the sides of the cards, to me it just makes them look tacky as heck, but it does show their age when they don't. Im wanting a soft-looking deck within the colors and unsure which to get cause some say that some are the tones of sepia and I've already made that mess up with the "original rider waite" which is far from and misleading-no colors just dull brownish/greenish coloring that i just don't bond well with. And I don't want some cards that like really pop out, but just a rider waite deck that's just normal soft or pale in color, would you have any suggestions? And if so what would the backings look like?
US Games Systems released a new RWS deck a couple months ago...Pamela Colman smith's RWS Tarot Deck. It doesn't have a copyright on the face, and the coloring has been desaturated, so it looks quite soft.
In 2024, if you can find an original blue or yellow deck and pay $200-$300, that's okay to do. It will continue to raise value and it also depends on what you put your money into. Many people spend $65 per week for artificial nails. Don't get your nails done and get an original tarot deck that will certainly last longer. ;). And when you sell your deck, I bet you will sell it for considerably more than you paid for. It's not like you're going to sell it for $50.
Really New to Tarot. Started yesterday. Just watched 50 odd videos on youtube about Tarot Readings & rules. Glad to see u wid the ORIGINAL old deck. ❤ Just wanted u to provide me the link for the "SUNBURN edition" coz that "Rider Waite Original *Reprint version*" available on amazon comes wid very poor color tone. It's nowhere near to the original deck color. Its yellows are way to bright. ATLEAST UR SUNBURN EDITION IS 99% CLOSE TO WHT ORIGINAL ONE LOOKED LIKE 😍 So plz provide the link to buy it. Love from INDIA
I'm sorry Rudra, the decks in the sunburned magician boxes are early printings of the original decks. (Well, original "second edition" Rider tarot decks.) They were printed in the early 1970s. You have to buy them second hand in antique stores or find a listing on a place like eBay. There's no link to just buy them.
Yes it is used, and it is fine. No one is using tarot cards for anything nefarious...and if they are, they're a decided minority. And if I felt it was necessary, I'd cleanse the item. Any magical worker worth a darn can do that without much trouble at all.

Thanks so much for showing more on the LWB. I bought a deck but it didn't have a LWB so hunting for it online to match my edition was hard lol
Oops! I just found that comparison in your videos. Thanks!

YESSSSSS!!!!!! This is amazing!!! I’m so glad you decided to ditch the “no TH-cam” attitude! This was absolutely lovely 😊 thanks for it!

Melissa Zupan I’ll send you a close up of the fools soon. I want all the editions! 😂
@@moonbabytarot Sweet! Thanks! I have to admit, I have the compulsion to get all the editions, too. :)
What was the year that US Games first printed the deck?

Again, all of those are previous editions that are no longer sold and must be found in used markets like eBay.
