so with steak, I always heat the pan to scorching hot and add just a drizzle of oil to it to sear the steak, and add the butter at the end of cooking (it's fine to cook the veggies in it, but better to use a neutral, high smoke point oil to get the steak actually cooked). Butter burns too quickly.
Yum, that looked so good! I have a cast iron hot pad and sit my hot pans on it to cool off. I also use a wooden cutting board to sit hot pans on to cool down. Sometimes I cover the wood with foil to prevent staining.

Good job! You need a trivet to sit your hot pan on. They make silicone ones that are light weight versus ceramic or cast iron trivets. You should also get a silicone splash guard to cover food when cooking.
Girl you just need a trivet, it’s just a rubber mat used for hot pans/pots.

My late wife owned a steakhouse before I met her. She showed me to cut the fat edges off of the steak and fry it in the pan to make the oil before putting the steak in the pan. Then toss the fatty pieces and fry the steak. Only flip one time and if it needs further cooking, put it briefly in the oven. Then when it's done rub butter on top of it. 😝

I’m on a huge Korean food kick nowadays. Spicy Korean noodles with whatever protein and veg I have. I’ve been building up my spice tolerance with this and kimchi. But can’t go wrong with a classic steak dinner either!

You're right on the single flip for the steak. Your cooking tools are correct if they work for you. That meal looked delish ~.
the "flip once" thing is a bit of a myth- the main thing you want is the caramelization (i think it's called the maillard reaction) and so to get that, the easiest way is to add the steak to a scorching pan and just flip it once. But you can get the same effect with patience lol
you just have to watch out for overcooking it
Also, you can cook instant potatoes in the skillet, it would have made them taste better and you wouldn't have to put the skillet on the floor/dirty another pot
its not a myth. dont flip it more than once, unless you want to ruin the flavour.
@@oldmanad what ruins the flavor of a steak is not seasoning it properly, overcooking the middle, not getting a char on the outside, and not giving it enough time to rest after cooking. It doesn't have much to do with how many times you flip it, unless you are flipping it too fast to let it get brown.

try a fettuccini, boil the noodles and all you need is whipping cream, parmesan cheese, little shredded cheese and garlic, oregano is a good spice to add. you can add some veggies while cooking, broccoli is a great one, mushrooms are good but they need to be cooked before you add them to the sauce. i will get the sauce about 3 quarters done then toss in some peppers, prefer sweet ones for flavor. pour the sauce over the noodles and enjoy. you need to have garlic bread, even microwaved it still tastes good. wrap the garlic bread in foil and toss it in the pan you just finished the sauce in , the heat will do its thing and you have a good meal - btw, you need a bottle of sweet red to accompany the meal, followed by a little games of thrones and head for a good nights sleep. just a suggestion.
I flip my steak once. Pork I flip a few times. I'd say whatever works for whoever is cooking it is right.
I'm plant based and I love to cook so I make all sorts of things. Today I made rice paper bacon. So good. Also.. you haters... if you think you need to leave your derogatory comments, just remember 'she lives in a van!',, so stop it. I'd get a silicone trivet to set your pan on. It won't take up much space!

Fish and chips
On your right side you could put a nice size cutting board and a few pot holders on cutting board to put a hot pan of food. Don’t forget to you put it there! Yellow squash and zucchini are my favorite with some Bochoy. Fried up. With a few eggs in it. 🫵🏻🇺🇸☕️
Don’t let people make you feel bad for living simple(a good thing in my opinion), you don’t have to have a utensil made specifically for ever type of use. People are just simple minded(not a good thing in my opinion)

Wooden cutting board . That way it diesnt matter if its the floor or bed the cutting board will keep it from burning. I do that at home when i cook. Or u can use a cookie cooling rack. Both are cheap at the dollar store.

Love how functional your swing out table top is. That was such a good idea! You should get a trivet for setting your hot pan or pot down on. It wouldn't take up significant space and would definitely solve the problem.
For the hot pan, just get a little wire rack, like the ones used to cool down cookies and cakes after baking. Use that, it doesn't take up much room and no carpets will get burnt xx
