I lived in my car for 4 months back in 2018. It was absolutely exhausting. I slept in the front with the seat down. I would wash my face and fix my hair in McDonald’s washrooms and leave for work in the morning. Couple times a week I would shower at truck stops. After those 4 months I saved enough to secure a place to live. All of us have our reasons for having to resort to living in cars. To anyone reading this.. hang in there. Don’t give up. I made the best of it once you were in you couldn't tell that's where you were. We're survivors. My experiences living in a car were done traveling. I found ways to make enough to get by everyday. How does a auto start system make ur car any cheaper to warm ur car up? U lost me...... I get the point of not getting out her sleeping bag but thats all
Hi Rosa, to keep warm when it’s that cold. Get a large water bottle (Not the insulated ones) filled it up with hot water , put it in a sock 🧦 then wrapped it in an extra warm jacket if you have one. Put it between your thighs when you are laying in your sleeping bag. Make sure you put it in a sock and then wrap it in a jacket so you don’t burn yourself. It will keep you warm for the entire night, with your body heat and the bottle of hot water between your thighs. You’d be warm, and comfortable throughout the night. I hike a lot in cold weather, so I know that works.

Little tip that may help in cold areas. Get yourself a couple melon sized rocks that you can heat by a fire. Pull them away from the fire for about 30 minutes. Wrap them in a towel and place it at the foot of your blanket and you'll stay warm/hot all night. Just make sure they're not rocks that are from a river. Over exposure to moisture can cause the rocks to explode when heated due to steam.
😂 I used to tell my mother I love the new snow like that because it sounds like you’re walking on corn starch! If you ever packed down with a spoon, it makes the same exact noise😂😂❤❤❤

My cousin had a Joni handwarmer that was as big as a breadbox for deer hunting. We always laughed about that but he was the only one that was ever warm. He would shoot a buck, field dress it, then put the handwarmer inside the body cavity. Buy the time he dragged it back to camp the steaks were cooked for dinner. Seagrams and a deer steak for everybody.
👍I'm surprised that you didn't mention, frost bite, for those that only see the beauty in the video. I lived in the mtns of Montana for over 30 years so seen a lot of that cold, tho the woodstove helped 😂 The cold snap is hitting a great area and those nasty wind chills. Still minus 8 in the sandhills of Nebraska this morning, hopefully not the 20 belows again, anytime soon . The snow has stopped and I need to shovel, before the drifts get hard. Stay safe😢and warm ❤ not all vehicles start in the cold.
Good girl, I admire your spirit. We've loved on the road, sometimes with five children, and we've been kicked out of usa, canada, and the eu. But we found a small croft house with only three walls that we called our cave. Now it has four walls, a wood stove, a glass extension, sheep, chicken, a highland cow, two dogs, cats, and solar panels with a wind mill. We live of very little, PUT! It worked out fine. So never give up, ever.
You are a total beast for getting out there in their temps! Can't even imagine ever being that cold. But watching and listening to that river must've been so peaceful
The extreme cold and hot is actually good for your body. I take cold showers until December where I take a hot shower followed by 30 seconds of cold water.

Ur a brave soul I love it. I do live in a vehicle, but it’s a truck camper so it’s quite easy. I used to chase the snow for snowboarding around the country in winter. I learned all kinds of tricks to stay warm. I’m glad you’re warming your car up in the middle of the night that makes sense. be careful in this cold weather. I got sick during a chinook when everything was melting, getting slushy and the humidity was way high. I caught a nasty chest cold possible pneumonia but I haven't had any fever. I started losing my voice a few days ago and I'm coughing pretty harsh since last week. I lived in a car back in 2005, was in a few shared places from 2006 and 2007 but kept getting evicted. I bought a van and converted it from scratch and lived in it for 7 years. Then I bought my first motorhome in 2014 and lived in it for 7 years while making tons of modifications to it. I upgraded to a slightly bigger motorhome in 2021 and it took me 3 winters to make more improvements to the insulation but right now I don't drive it with an expired plate. I've been biking all over the city to get around
It was -17f here for several days and I was out camping, too. The first night was rough with just a blanket, but the second day I layered it into my Kelty sleeping bag and was just fine. Stay safe!

I agree with you there's no way not even when I was younger.
What a beautiful human being you are. Happy weekend Rosa! 🙏
Aww thank you! ❤️
You could heat up water and fill bottles with hot water and put inside your sleeping bag as a sorta heating source!
😂 I used to tell my mother I love the new snow like that because it sounds like you’re walking on corn starch! If you ever packed down with a spoon, it makes the same exact noise😂😂❤❤❤
I know just the sound you’re talking about
Love that sound and leaves crunching
just finished last night viewing ALL of your videos...and this morning a new one...Thank You!...was missing your positive attitude/smile/good mornings and such.
Hoping your able to post more and more often this year.....all the best from Washington
Stay safe with Elrond Rosa......let the adventures continue
Wow! Thank you for watching and supporting me ❤️ I'll do my best to get more regular with my posting!
Sure miss those hot springs.. your smiles are so nice with this peaceful settings ❤
My cousin had a Joni handwarmer that was as big as a breadbox for deer hunting. We always laughed about
that but he was the only one that was ever warm. He would shoot a buck, field dress it, then put the handwarmer
inside the body cavity. Buy the time he dragged it back to camp the steaks were cooked for dinner. Seagrams
and a deer steak for everybody.
Welcome to Idaho. You are a strong young lady! I can't wait to hit up the hot springs as well! Keep up the good work!
👍I'm surprised that you didn't mention, frost bite, for those that only see the beauty in the video. I lived in the mtns of Montana for over 30 years so seen a lot of that cold, tho the woodstove helped 😂
The cold snap is hitting a great area and those nasty wind chills. Still minus 8 in the sandhills of Nebraska this morning, hopefully not the 20 belows again, anytime soon . The snow has stopped and I need to shovel, before the drifts get hard.
Stay safe😢and warm ❤ not all vehicles start in the cold.
I have no experience with frostbite so I wouldn't know where to start! I think as long as you have the proper supplies, you will be okay!
Really thoughtful of you, most people do not think this way. Keep on keeping on girlie!💙
You are a total beast for getting out there in their temps! Can't even imagine ever being that cold. But watching and listening to that river must've been so peaceful
Excellent video Rose, thank you.😊
Thanks for watching!! 😊
My kind of hot springs! What a beautiful place to hang out. Thanks for sharing.
God bless y’all, praying for anyone going through this situation. ❤🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽❤️
Thank you for taking us along on this journey, and greetings from Idaho!
Great video. I got cold just watching you stand on the snow/ice. You go girl.
I like the extremes of cold weather with hot springs 😊
The extreme cold and hot is actually good for your body. I take cold showers until December where I take a hot shower followed by 30 seconds of cold water.
That's really considerate of you to think about the plow drivers! If only everyone thought about how their simple decisions affect others like that, the world would be a much better place for everyone. Thanks for showing us what's possible/ necessary as far as living a simple fulfilled life!
God bless you hon!🥶🥶🥶🥶 I hope you get really warm sleep somewhere you're very young I don't know your circumstances but hang in there I am so impressed!
I appreciate you Rosa, thank you for being on Earth with me. You are the reason I cook now and it's made a big impact on my health and wellness. Keep safe and we all love you ❤
Very sweet comment
Wow - those hot springs! The river is beautiful running through the cold snow. My laptop is slowly closing… gorgeous
I love hot springs in the winter ❤️
Love how u are just relaxed in the hot bath and the snow falling around u, looks amazing, ur tattoos are super too, stay unique Rosa, Big ❤ 🇮🇪
"defrost my contacts". that's a new one. 68 yrs young here and I thought I have heard everything.
your adventures have really helped with figuring out my slightly cramped sedan setup-and seeing how you make decisions on the road is awesome! absolutely love the snow, too, and i will be stealing it at some point for my snow-starved australian self's enjoyment so enjoy it while you can 💅
Ur a brave soul I love it. I do live in a vehicle, but it’s a truck camper so it’s quite easy. I used to chase the snow for snowboarding around the country in winter. I learned all kinds of tricks to stay warm. I’m glad you’re warming your car up in the middle of the night that makes sense. I’ve got a diesel truck so I’ve got a remote start and I was able to warm it up once in a while when it got that cold. At least you’re not dealing with diesel. Anyways, love the adventure take care.
Truck campers are pretty cool! But I am definitely happy to not deal with diesel lol good for you!
🤔 What about needing the bathroom in the middle of the night?
Men pee in a bottle.
I love that crunchy sound of the snow when it’s so cold! That’s how you can tell it’s really cold out!! That eagle chliing up in the tree was awesome, I love seeing eagles
When the snow squeaks, that’s cold.
the “what the fuck” when you saw -33 degrees 😂 my exact reaction
😂😂 I was shocked it got that cold lol
Rosa, after seeing this video I know you could handle any weather Canada would throw at you! Please do a Canadian tour! You've inspired me to start travelling in my little hatchback and I'm definitely starting in British Columbia this year :)
"Little hatchback"?? I had a hatchback but would not use one for winter traveling unless I stayed in hotels and ate in restaurants !!!
Just found you...Please do take care though, there are some very bad people out there. Love to you X
Wow! Brings back memories and very inspiring! Love it 🥰
You are such a badass Rosa! I feel like I'm about to die when it's 20 degrees when I go to start my car for work in the morning. 😂 Safe travels and camping!
I was thinking the same. I live in Southeast Georgia and when it’s 25-30 here we’re all freaking out. 😅
Always something wild & new with you! So fun, glad you’re living it up and having a good time in Winter Wonderland ❤️
To keep your contacts from freezing again, you might sleep with the case in your bra. That tends to be a warm area for us ladies.
You really know how to explore and enjoy life in the outdoors. I wish I was as outgoing as you in my 20s. Safe travels!
The snowy mountain and river scenery was amazing and I loved hearing the snow crunching and squeaking under foot. Thanks for sharing.
Such beautiful country! Could the locations of those hot springs be more magical?!? You're traveling around one of my favorites places in the world, which is the dream of my Element and I, so this is such a special treat. 😊 Thank you for sharing your journey as always!!!
Hot springs in the snow are so freaking magical ❤️ I love them! I hope you and your Element get to travel as well!!
I think your lifestyle is fascinating. I’d love to give it a try. I have watched all kinds of videos on van/car camping/ living. Your videos might be my favorite. Stay safe and God Bless.
You are so brave and awesome. Watching this realising how much FEAR has held e back from experiencing literally anything. This is inspiring honestly
Welcome to Montana! It was -27 (-51 Real Feel) in Billings about a week ago and it was awful! Missoula definitely stayed a little warmer. Hope you enjoyed your time here! 😊
Welcome back, Rosa!! Happy New Year❤
Omg having to defrost your contacts was hilarious. As a California girl, I could never imagine living or even (car) camping in those temperatures!! You’re a trooper for sure. 😊
Thanks for being here!! You could totally do it, as long as you have the proper supplies and a good sleeping bag!! ❤️
I can tell you from growing up in Alaska, it was pretty common in winter to see people leave their cars running, so it doesn't surprise me you'd start yours once or twice in the night.
I wear contacts, I went camping once when it got really cold I had several blankets and sleeping bag....my contacts however being in a hard case like what you showed I put that into my pants pocket so my body heat would keep the liquid from freezing.....next morning they were fine
She's one of the few nomad influencers that never gets a heater 🥶
Lol I have nowhere to put one! And a good sleeping bag is really all you need!
@@lifeinmyelement True! People have been sleeping in sub-sub-sub-zero temperatures without heaters for thousands of years.
-18 is what it is here today. Is nice
Compared to the -40 to -60 with the windchill. I love winter and cold and crunchy snow. My fav time of year. Love your videos !
I'm glad you understand!! Winter can be so beautiful ❤️
@2:27 - engine block heater ( usually about 300 watts ) can keep the battery ( it might freeze and get destroyed if the charge is low) and vehicle warmer indirectly. A typical block heater installation including labor is about $150.
i just came across your channel i love these type of videos they are my fav! you seem like such a cool person! i wish i could experience a type of snow like this
You are so adorable and courageous! Thanks for sharing your adventures. :)
Thank you for being here!! 😊
I'm glad you decided not to get into the hot springs in the higher altitude, I could tell it was cold out there. I know you luv those hot springs, but it's the getting out part for me lol. You're so beautiful ❤
Getting out can be absolutely awful, especially when it's windy and cold!
be careful in this cold weather.
As someone who needs to pee at least 3 times during the night, I could never.
That's a cool little hot springs spot. I bet it felt awesome after a -33 night..it's been cold here in TN for a good week..but not quite that low❄️🥶
It definitely felt amazing!! Made the cold worth it ❤️
My next trip back to the USA I am going to investigate west Texas. Some cool little towns out there. Take care Rosa, stay warm!
West Texas is a fun area! Great food ❤️
I love winters (especially snow).. but stuck in Texas lol.. Enjoying vicariously thru you!! enjoy!!
I respect you cold weather, snow people... My first drive would be away from a cold state..
It's crazy how little you wear in such extreme weather. You are so strong!
Aww thank you!! ❤️
It was -17f here for several days and I was out camping, too. The first night was rough with just a blanket, but the second day I layered it into my Kelty sleeping bag and was just fine. Stay safe!
A sleeping bag really makes all the difference ❤️
@@lifeinmyelementI agree. But I'm ready for the warmth to come back 😂 that, or I need to break out the diesel heater for my rooftop tent. But if you want to hit some more hot springs, we literally have a town named Hot Springs here in Arkansas. My daughter and I would always be down to camp with ya!
I could never. God bless you and protect you ❤
It warms my heart ♥ to see you laugh and smile ☺
I'm in Missoula! Thank goodness that cold snap is over!!
It's fun to see you visit places I am familiar with❤
I love Missoula ❤️ such a fun town!
@@lifeinmyelement ♡♡♡!
glad to see you are still around.. I am in Wisconsin.. and temps are just as cold. Remote starter would be a good addition
Hope you are staying warm!! ❤️
If you have a SUV experiment with it and try camping with some friends do more with it than drive it. me and some friends travel and sleep in ours and it’s quite fun, lots of overnights and lots to see.
I have a 2018 Promaster 2500 that I am living out of for the last 3 years.. @@FUBAR199
I am in awe of you 😳 I was going to suggest a tiny ceramic space heater? I have a rechargeable battery back for camping, maybe in the coldest part of the night you could plug in and use a ceramic space heater. They work so well. You are brave!!! Love your positive attitude about absolutely everything, youre a good person!
Fun video you had me chuckling a few times! Loved watching you cook indoors, good use of those little cooking pods
i admire ur independence!! love to see it, stay safe and warm ❤
Hi!!! You are literally so CHILL the way you handle those cold nights lol! I would prolly die of exposure but you do it like Been there done that. Sooo coooolll❤❤😘
😂😂 thank you!! Honestly, I'm always way more worried about my car than myself! ❤️
@@lifeinmyelement you go!!🥰💯
That hot spring is an oasis in that winter ❄ wonder land. Fabulous!
I don’t care how pretty a mountain is, when it’s -33 degrees it’s time to get the hec outta the place,, this is why Arizona Nevada is where many van lifers head to.
Omg. God bless you. Awesome tattoos.
Looks like you get warnings from people. That’s because they/we care. ❤ 😊
I really admire your bravery and kind spirit . God bless you.
Hi Rosa. You are one brave young lady. Pls stay safe pls esp with the way the world is going.
*Camera turns off* “Ight I’m going back inside”
And she never thought of a hot water bottle.
I’m a married mother with 2 grown kids I work full time. I just discovered your videos. They are awesome I can live vicariously through you ❤️❤️❤️❤️stay safe
I wouldn’t sleep overnight in dangerous temperatures outside except on or near a 24 hour place in case your car freezes and you’re stranded. I would then commute to Hotsprings. And if in an area where its no phone reception irregardless of weather- please invest in SOS/Emergency Satellite phone ( research more popular now) that’s sends a help with location beacon.
