I never get tired of listening to this one. It's got all the best elements of punk, pop and alt rock from at least three decades. It has the energy and simplicity of punk from the 1970's, the bass-driven lines of 1980's dance and pop music, and the guitars and production of the 1990's.
Interpol songs are like shy strangers...the more you listen to them/get to know them they end up being the most interesting people/songs you've ever listened to
have tickets to see them in 2 months for the first time after listening to them for almost a decade. know every song and every lyric and am ready to get wasted and scream interpol lyrics AT interpol. go paul go hype hype hype hype, us australians dont see many uk/usa bands touring that aren't frontpage artists.
I stumbled upon this song and it’s been nearly 11 years since I heard it. I played this song non stop in the summer of 2007, and I saw Interpol in all places, Atlantic City. I was on top of world then-I had a great job, my dad was alive, and all of my friends were well. Just a few months later, my dad died, my friend was diagnosed with stage 2 lung cancer , and I lost my job, and nearly everything I owned. Never saw this video till today, and it resonates how quick life can change. You just have to be grateful for your loved ones.
sorry to hear about what happened in your life... I feel for you. My life was going down hill since my freshman year in highschool, then drugs and hardcore music took over my life my senior year in 2012. I was introduced to interpol a few years back and been sober ever since. Just keep listening to this stellar band, and life will be great :) INTERPOL
I just wish I could turn back time to see carlos play with them, I seen them a few months back on Detroit and Columbus. It's just not the same without carlos
having another interpol phase, haven't listened to these guys in years but with the new record coming out i'm in this phase, can't stop listening to them
I love metal...nu-metal.. industrial.. but man... Interpol is one of those bands that just tears into you and sinks their teeth in on so many levels. Them and the Killers.. two of the best bands from the single digit years.
I love how most of the og Skaters from early 2000’s put interpol songs on their video parts! This is how i know and im very happy to meet Interpol through skateboard which is my favorite sport!
I don't listen to many songs on a regular basis but this is a song that I keep coming back to for reasons I can't explain other than I really, really like it.
one of the most unique and thought provoking videos ever. I love it and never ever get tired of this song or any other interpol song pure musical genius
2 years later. Time moves forward for the woman in the dress, time moves backwards for everyone else from the starting point of the woman in the dress getting hit by the bus. Hence why the Waiter, cell phone guy, and older woman all look unconcerned right before woman in the dress gets hit by the bus but the horror of her being killed is on their faces at the start of the video
@@brianeno7546 Yeah, the woman and man are playing backwards, the blonde is forwards, and I think to throw it all off the waiter is moving forwards and then backwards.
It's been seven years since "Our Love to Admire" I can't believe, i mean, i was just a kid at the time that ate, drank and breathed this fantastic band!
It was the summer before I was in 10th grade when this album came out and I remember asking my parents to take me to the Virgin music store to buy it. That CD got passed around to all my friend who to this day all remain huge Interpol fans :,) what a classic song.
God... this lyric is top..... l recovered from long, toxic relation..... finaly l found my way of living......this song perfectly express my emotions......getting over break up, be glad it's ended... and feeling fine again..... brilliant
Most intense, nonstop beating, thrilling indie rock you will find. Interpol is up there with the best rock bands ever if you dont think it too you, most likely, need to listen more and talk less...
up there with the best rock bands?? you need to heed your own advice and listen more and keep your uneducated mouth closed.. they are awesome but nowhere close to the top rock bands
+th3 Joker well their two first albums (totbl and antics) are just sheer rock epicness. And the others are not so far behind. I dont see many other bands at least in the indie/post punk scenario that have their now legacy. "A time to be so small", "evil", "public pervert", "next exit", "obstacle 1", "specialist", "PDA", and "Roland" are just all magic made in rock language.
+Alejandro Aguilar what you said now is irrefutable they are geniuses but still my statement stands they are not even in the top 100 rock bands..if you want some awe inspiring song suggestions let me know.. ps sorry for being a dick in my initial reply
Some thoughts on the technical refinement of this video. In my opinion, there are three distinct slow-motion movies assembled admirably, namely: 1) The movie of the girl advancing alone; 2) The movie of the elderly woman, the man and the barman advancing alone until the pigeons fly; 3) The video of the elderly woman, the man and the barman who go back alone after the flight of the pigeons. This last movie might seem pleonastic, but it is not, because if it were the simple rewinding of the scene in which the three are advancing, on their faces, at least for a few moments, they should keep the terrified expression of before, because this expression has had a duration and it is impossible that it can disappear suddenly, as instead appear in the video.T he technical result is really amazing.
Fun fact - the guy who directed the video, Edmund Elias Merhige, did a little movie called Begotten, and some vids for Marilyn Manson and Danzig. Look it up, you won't regret
Carlos was an important presence for the band, but he never liked the idea of being a bassist, the proof of this is that he never joined another band to play that instrument again, what I remember attracted him the most was philosophy, literature, acting and theater. And yes, he was a good bass player with amazing stage presence, but a lot of his bass sections were written by Daniel Kessler the guitarist and true leader of Interpol.
I think what he's trying to say is that now everyone is going to be listening to Interpol and he wanted it to belong to just the people that have been listening to them forever. I think it would be great if more people started listening to them, their a great group.

funny
@Elijah Finch Thanks for the recommendation. Your friend doesn't sound like Interpol, but I don't regret listening to that song.

In that case may I introduce you to a song called "Evil" by Interpol? You'll love the music video.

if any song can be said to have a "perfect" opening, this is it.
Interpol really loves making videos about vehicular tragedy
This video is still genius after all these years.
It was directed by the creator of the film Begotten
something being genius doesn't typically stop being genius later on.

Consider the idea that a music video is one of the only forms of media that would do storytelling in super slow motion like this.
Heard this song live in Mexico. I was in the first row. It was godlike.

First song I ever heard by Interpol. Him singing the first line to the song without music for second just had me hooked...

Since you commented on this. I listened to it 8 times. Love this song

Death by Narcissism!!
Ricordo ancora cosa stavo facendo quando ho visto per la prima volta questo video. Adoro ❤
looks like it's 4 different time lines presented in the same area of space, very interesting video!
What it is, is showing a parallel moment in time. All four unknowing participants dealing with different situations in the same moment.

revisiting Interpol, new record coming in the fall
That feel when the new album is forgettable trash. Interpol died with Carlos' departure.
GreetTheSacredCow What a typical, jackass thing to say. Don't be so impressionable; Kessler wrote the bass lines.
