Unfortunately I missed this live but just reading through the chat it's easy to see that international support for Ukraine is strong and healthy. Not particularly from national governments and news sources but from real people. The same names that were there at the beginning are still here now. Civilian support both financial and moral is still strong, Democracy can't afford to ignore this war and it is up to us to make sure that we don't.

Your quote from history: "In a hundred years Russians will still steal and lie etc." - Well, whoever said that, had little hope in development of Russian and humanity in general. Because I think most people would agree that in every country you will find people who want to be honest and who want to be respectful of the property of other people.
Another thing I would say that is a bit special about Russia is the "abolition" of private property, in the decades of communism which from perspective of many people would be called "theft" - so I agree with David Satter that the end of the Soviet Union led to the reinstatement of private property, but crucially the basic human rights of individuals and the moral backbone of a free society in law and order was not given enough attention and care.
Which led to the catastrophic mafia structure now in place in that country.
I strongly agree with you, OS, that we need a better way to deal with Russian propaganda in the West - they are at war with us and they have the best propaganda machine in the world. The 2016 USA experience has emboldened them - they only spent a couple of million dollars and look at the effect. I do not see any big advance in fighting their activities in the social media.
My idea would be to learn from Russia in that respect. Pass laws about "foreign agents" - because that is what people who work for Russia in the Western media are. Do something to stop this. I see YT channels in Germany, that are turning out several high quality disinformation pro Russian propaganda channel PER DAY. I reported one of the video for terrorism support. It was removed but I highly doubt it will remain blocked. We need to have FIRST - awareness of the destructive effect of Russian propaganda and take it serious - SECOND - pass laws to deal with people who are producing Kremlin propaganda in the West.
In this election year of 2024 in many parts of the world, I hope that these two things will move forward.

For a long time, I've approached any source of information with a kind of cautious scepticism. I ask myself "Why are they telling me this? What are they trying to get from me?" Sometimes it's obvious, like adverts are trying to sell me something, or politicians are trying to get elected. Other times, I need to look harder. But I very rarely take things at face value.

Wow Starsky I knew you were great, and of course smart, but a PHD - that explains why you are so good at what you do. You manipulated me into thinking you were an ordinary happy go lucky person not a genius! Even more admirable you volunteered to serve in the military from the start, but then you went to Maidan too so you are a true patriot. All kidding aside that was a brilliant lecture and you would be a good lecturer and trainer of lecturers throughout the West including here in the US since we need it. It should be required attendance by every Politician and member of our Government especially the State Department and National Security who are not doing their jobs. They don't treat it as warfare and are not fighting it. Not sure I agree with only fighting fiction with facts. I don't see any reason we can't fight as dirty as they do since this is a war and we want to win and Russians are in fact easily manipulated as are MAGA and all the Russian assets like them.
