Daisuke's character design philosophy progression from Xrd to Strive has been one of my favorite progressions. I don't think there's anyone doing the contemporary street-cyberpunk anime look better - perfect blend of sophistication, expression, and creativity.
Seriously Ishiwatari has to be one of the coolest designers of all time next to Nomura seriously look how cool his work is but his early guilty gear work is amazing despite being “anime” it makes it even more special and is one of the pinnacles of Japanese video game art next to Tetsuya Nomura, Yoshitaka Amano, Goli Matsumoto, Ayami Kojima, Akiman and finally shinkiro (SNK and capcom artist).
I'd like to say my favorite era of his art journey was the late 2000s to early 2010s--around the time where he made his Overture, Blazblue, and Xrd work. I think his coloring style had such a nice value range and I liked the more cartoony and angular proportions more.
Honestly, it reminds me of how the music at first glance feels so put together yet when you try to listen to the lyrics they don’t make any sense at all, music still fucking awesome though.
I feel like their is some translation issues but I've heard some pretty good analysis on the music lyrics for strive at least, that seems to indicate there is something there beneath the surface
One thing about Daisukes work is his influences. Aside from his music inspiration, he has a large inspiration from comics, manga and anime. One large influence was the manga series Bastard!!! Which not only shares a heavy metal influnced world with sword and sorcery, but even character designs and clothing were inspired: such as Kall-Su inspiring Ky Kyske to Lars the Dragon slayers outfit influencing The Holy Order outfits that Ky, Sol, Kliff and otheres adorn! Even Testament design is that of Tekkaman Blade! Awesome and Badass all around!!❤️💪 *One thing i gotta say about Daisuke Ishwataris work is its expressionism. Wheter this be by the mood or colors of his work.,each one sets an atmosphere that conveys it's own story. This, adding in his love of music, bands and comics, help elevate the creativty behind the brush! * In short, Daisuke Ishwatari is an amazing representative of ambition! He not only did he get his dream game with his music, band and art but he also voices the the titular badass of rhe series!!! Just love it!❤️
Do Kita Senri from the old samurai shodown team. She does work on fire emblem and other series now. But her art in samurai shodown 64 1 and 2 is beyond godlike. Also, are you Dutch?
As it turns out, both of them are spoken for by ladies that kick ass. Sol with Aria/Jack-O (it's weird), and Ky with Dizzy, who's now the queen of his kingdom and basically universally adored as an angel.
Thanks for noticing this, I actually meant Eye lashes. The confusion stems from my own native language... I didnt realize that I missused it untill now.
Dream goal: to be like daisuke Ishiwatari

Well said!
nice to see someone actually appreciate that development, as opposed to believing Strive is just sterilized
This art is actually pretty cool and I just love the style

Big but good list :P
@@GameArts1 thanks it’s one of the many reasons why I love Japanese media because how they approach character design like there’s a science behind it.
I was looking for a daisuke ishiwatari art analysis video for so long, this video is like a blessing. 😌🙌

I follow Senca's philosophy, "Life Is Not Short; We Just Waste Most of It". I disagree. He is still a great artist, though.

I hear you use this word a lot but I can't tell what you're referring to. What do you mean when you describe whimpers regarding the eyes?
