I just bought an FZ1000 M2 yesterday before seeing this video in May of 2020. And, I agree about DSLRs with interchangeable lenses. I've had many and did change out lenses more than most people but still I had to carry around a heavy backpack with all that glass. The drudgery of having a fancy camera (Nikon D500) with multiple lenses actually turned me off to photography as it almost seemed like work and not fun. I sold all my gear over a year ago and took some time off. But, I've made the decision to jump back in...but with a bridge camera like the Lumix. Thanks for your review.

What do you think about the FZ1000 II? I watched a few videos about it and it seems, that the pictures are never really sharp?
CS:GO Videos I never had any problem with the sharpness of the 1000M2
I got my Mark ll last week. Went to the Mission San Diego de Acala yesterday and shot some beautiful photos. I actually traded in my FZ1000 for this camera and I'm not disappointed. Better video with this camera.

Hi! I find myself re-watching your video almost a year to the day after I last watched it! Reading the comment I left a year ago, I also find myself completely contradicting myself. I now think that this would be a good buy, especially when you consider that the FZ330 I currently have is rapidly wearing out! Also the point you made about having an interchangeable lens camera with which you very rarely actually change the lens, holds very true in my case. I have the Nikon D90 with an 18-200mm lens which I've never taken off!
I still highly rate this camera. There is also a Canon super zoom model that gets decent reviews, the SX70 HS that might be worth a look.
@@geekanoids The sx70 HS is a nice camera but it does lack some of the features I've already been using with the FZ330, namely the touch screen among others. I find myself using the touch to focus feature quite a lot and would definitely miss it.
Hi is it possible to disengage the shutter release button and set the focus for back button focus on the Panasonic FZ1000 mk2.

How does the Panasonic's stabilisation and autofocus compare to the Sony?
Just for video use the Sony. Sony IS works better too.

The last camera I purchased was around 15 years ago, the Sony nex5. I purchased the lumix 1000 today, I’m just a casual shooter, hope I made a good choice considering I was on a budget.

A little late to the party, but I ended up ordering the FZ1000 Mk2, as well as the Canon G5X Mk2. Two cameras to replace a full frame Sony A900, complete with a plethora of Minolta lenses. I got the Sony 9 years ago, as a way to get past the crop limitations of 4/3 lenses in the Panasonic LUMIX cameras. The biggest problem was getting wide angle: In Micro 4/3, wide is expensive! Now down to the present, as mentioned in the review, many people, including myself, buy into an ILC system, thinking they'll use all those lenses, but in reality don't. I was one of those. It turned out that for me at least, the most fun was hunting down quality example of Minolta glass, not actually using those lenses in the field, which was a pain. Enter bridge cameras. In the Lumix FZ1000 Mk2, I get a very useable wide to telephoto range, in a moderately fast lens, with a 1" sensor. The Canon G5X Mk2 gives me the same 1" sensor in a pocketable camera to replace my aging Lumix LX7. With supply issue due to COVID, it became obvious (to me) that many aging camera models were NOT going to be updated in normal production cycles, some models being 4-6 years in production. What to do? By the time I figured out (after watching and reading countless reviews of competing bridge cameras) that the FZ1000 Mk2 was what I wanted, the supply dried up. I luckily managed to find some available on the big A, and look forward to using it. Thanks for the great work.

If youre on a vacation and not alone, a superzoom is just a winner. It is simply annoying for me and the others to wait, because i want to change lenses to get the right focal range. The FZ1000 ii is simply relaxing. I still keep a seperate system, if i want to shoot some portraits.

Is that clean HDMI just an option or a fixed feature? I mean if you deliberately want a non-clean output, with all the overlays, do you have a menu option to set it so?
Nice review I’m just deciding whether to buy it after seeing your comments I feel this is the camera for me, I have had a Nikon D5200 with a 1- 400 tamaron but didn’t think much of the setup so decided to change to a bridge camera as I got fed up with changing lenses as I also like doing macro as well

Hi is the camera still as noisy as the FZ1000? This made it impossible to use the internal mic because you could hear the lens rumbling all the time.
Focussing is quieter, but I think you would still hear the zoom.
Ok, what about the constant rumbling from the stabilizer?
@@joakimtollerud2172 You don't hear any of them. They've made it so the internal mic does not pic up the zoom or the stabilizer.
150mm is lost to (Human Eye Focal Length) leaving the user with 250mm with results in 10x. The clarity of the lens at 400mm is pretty bad but at 300mm it is better.
I had (2) of these devices, the M2 Editions and all the photos came out soft no matter what FStop, ISO or SS was used. A Tripod/Timer and Handheld were both used for these applications. In the hands the camera looks robust, when out in the field, if you have used a DSLR before you really get to see where it falls short.

Yes, it is good for that, unless you are recording 4K where the crop is an issue.

It does charge in camera, but once in use it stops charging. You can get dummy batteries and mains adapters as an option.

The upper limit of 400 mm zoom might not be an astounding value these days, as my pocket-sized Sony HX90V features 30x (750 mm I think). In rea life though, 30x is very difficult to handle handheld. Your breathing, your tension to make a perfect photo, might cause wobbling beyond the capabilites of image stabilization, if not losing your object from viewat all. Therefore I would say 400 mm is a very reasonable limit point and will give you a lot of creative options anyway.

There is dynamic zoom (or E-Opitcal Zoom) didn't really reduce the quality much. So it is actually more than 400mm optical zoom.
I have a 1440mm zoom camera zoom to the maximum and it is not really that much different to fz1000ii zoom to the maximum more than 400mm because fz1000ii has bigger sensor.
Also when come to low light small sensor obviously has its limitation compare to big sensor.
I'm looking to upgrade from my FZ82. Do I go for FZ300 or FZ1000ii?

Yes, it is the image stabilisation working.

Please excuse me ,because I'm watching this video over a year after you first recorded it. However, that aside, I'm struggling to think of the point Lumix were trying to make with this camera! From what I can make out, it has pretty much the same features as my FZ330, plus my camera has a 25 - 600mm zoom. What the FZ330 doesn't have of course, is the 1" sensor that this has, so that might make some difference.

If I were to place my wishlist for FZ1000 Mark3 features (should it ever arrive), it would contain: (1) some level of weather sealing, and (2) a dual memory slot, so that I could assign a much more expensive UHS3 memory card to storing video only. However, given the 5 years we had to wait for Mark 2, these wishes might be much outdated by 5 years from now.

I don't have sharp images when zoom is out (400) the wheater is gooed, i'm not moving .. what am o doing wrong?
At this zoom a tripod is recommended.

Dont understand why they brought this out , no major improvements on the fz1000 which is cheaper and the fz2000 already has fantastic video and more reach ?? Not sure what Panasonic were thinking?? Both of the others come with external chargers to.
