There's a lot of stuff that just make it impossible for me to become a lawyer.
    1. I stutter a lot.
    2. I come up with words very slowly.
    3. I have social anxiety.
    4. I am very bad at day to day conversations let alone a fight.

    • @IvanSacofski
      @IvanSacofski 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

Based on what you said, here’s my conclusion:
      1. You are pretty self aware, and only list your weaknesses, which tells me that you tend to overcorrect, and are better than average in compensating for those weaknesses.
      2. If you stutter and have anxiety, you probably are good at memorization, research, writing, and logical/analytical reasoning. As people tend to develop strengths in these areas as they overcorrect, to be able to get through life.
      3. Most lawyers are not “trial” lawyers. There are many types of law that you could study where your particular strengths work for you, instead of against you.
      4. There’s no part of the law school admission test that requires strengths in anything that you have described as weaknesses, which should tell you that what they value the most is strengths in other areas.

Having integrity and being determined to win at all costs are mutually exclusive at times. You're representing a bad'un, justice is at stake. Integrity is doing your best but thats not the same as winning at all costs. Believe it or not, some of us are drawn into law because of a strong sense of justice not an ego driven competitiveness and desire to win. It's a desire to do right and to be amazing at your job but not to crush a rape victim or destroy a domestic abuse survivor to get an abuser off the hook.

      Hi there..
I asked some of my friends.
And they gave me these tips
*1.* You need to go to *DEBATES CLUB* and be active in competition.
      Reason is,
*A.* Brush your reading and research skills on the topic you'll be presenting during debates.
*B.* Using persuasion to win over the jury. You need to be eloquent with your words. Jury are humans. Proper wording can magnify a data an turn the jury to your favour.
*2.* You want to be a lawyer?
Pick a specialty + get relevant extra knowledge regarding this.
For your case, as a *Personal Injury* lawyer, you need to learn physics, chemistry and biology..
You'll be receiving cases like accidents from hazardous chemicals, burns, workplace etc.
You can use these knowledge as advantages to search for the right evidences to help your client.
Knowledge in OSHA is also important to pinpoint flaws, weaknesses and negligences that happened to cause injury.
*3.* Read cases preterning to your specialty. Class actions are important too. Memorise them so you don't need to cramp all these info in law school. If you start early, and maintain these routines with dedication, you'll be way ahead of your peers in law school, and ahead of your opponents.
*4.* Be humble. Never stop learning. keep a lookout for new things and *be very attentive to details* - don't limit the source of your knowledge.

    • @xellosblackforest1685
      @xellosblackforest1685 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There it is.
I hope you'll do your part to help make the world a better place..
Do pro bono to the poor - as your reputation increases, you'll get as much experience needed to fight bigger cases.

"Willing to win at all costs" might not be the best way to phrase that, Mike. It might gain you clients but it isn't legal to break the law... the statements "have integrity" and "win at all costs" don't blend.
When I wanted to be a lawyer: don't let people "beat" the boss out of you, you can't be easily worn down. Take ownership of that confidence and use it but without doing anything to lose your self-respect. That would undermine the whole endeavor.
You need integrity if you want to have a good reputation, true; but it also makes it easier to live with oneself after if you're living right.
Persistence, resourcefulness, fight-to-win, go-get-'em attitude then you can also be a good lawyer.
In my ever so-humble opinion...(which also doesn't really jive with lawyering). You need to have a strong presence without humbleness when you're facing you're competition.
And remember, the justice system isn't based on truth but proof... Proof of payment that is. They will where and deal their appointed cases in order to arrange for their hires. Because the pay is substantially different. And you want to know what I've seen the worst of in this regard, is their legal guardian cases are bottom-shelved. They get paid the least so spend the least time and basically just dump it on the floor until court.

My personal rule is to never personally attack others and instead attack arguments.
So if they decide to insult me directly I can then ridicule/scold them by saying something like “now you see here you just made a personal attack against me, rather than directing it at my argument. I will admit you did it quite well, and that is a powerful trait befitting of a 9 year old” or something along those lines. It could use some refining but I’ll get there eventually

Integrity or winning at all costs? They usually don’t go together, especially in law.

My mother actually worked in court, and she was very good. She actually taught many people that are now lawyers. But she never became one. When she was working there many asked for her to become a lawyer, even me and my family wanted her to become one.

One of the most important things is to be able to get along and work with colleagues and your opponents. Having open lines of communication is crucial to being able to work out problems.
There are times to fight, but that's only part of the time. Many issues can be resolved.

Being willing to win at all cost, seems to sacrifice integrity. Believing in your client goes against standing up for what you believe in if you don’t believe your client is innocent.
