Whats up Eli, love all the videos brotha. I just grinded all summer and took my DAT august 8th. I scored an 18 AA/19TS/18PAT. I used iPrep but I am planning on retaking it in november after the 90 day period while the material is fresh, I studied too much this summer and burned out hard. Im going into my junior year and am involved in one of the biggest frats at MSU and was seeking your advice on staying disciplined and retaking the DAT in november using bootcamp, or waiting until next summer and then applying next summer as well before my senior year. Appreciate it brotha
what's up! first things first, you are already off to a good start. your scores are pretty good, and honestly depending on your GPA you may not even really need a retake. my advice is wait until the summer. you want to be able to devote as much time to studying as you can, which can be really hard during the school year. give yourself sometime and don't rush through it, you're still on track to be able to apply on time next summer
Love this video man!! Just had a quick question?? Would you say that the Pre Med and Pre Dental courses are similar and so doing one undergraduate course prepares you for both? Thanks in advance!!
thank you for the comment! and absolutely! the list of pre-requisites is basically exactly the same. Some dental schools have very specific requirements, like at UCSF when I was applying psychology was a pre-requisite. But generally speaking, yes the undergraduate courses prepare you for both.
hey thank you! So I would say it helped because I had to do some content review for the MCAT -- but studying for the DAT was like studying for an entire different test. Not only does the DAT have a lot of different sections than the MCAT (basically biology, chemistry, and o chem are the only similar sections) but the way the DAT asks questions is soooo different from the MCAT. So it honestly didn't help as much as people would think lol. I hope that helped!
honestly its not that similar lol. the MCAT and DATs reading sections were very different imo. also the MCAT has physics & biochem on it in their science sections, which the DAT doesn't. Then the DAT has a perceptual abilities section whereas MCAT as a psychology & sociology section
Thanks for sharing this one, I’ve been curious about this for a while!
yessir!

Yes please do the DAT
Great video! Would you say that studying for the MCAT benefited you when taking the DAT?

Do courses at community colleges hurt your chances of applying to dental schools?
its different for every school
Did taking your MCAT prior to applying to dental school make it harder to be accepted?
lol no worries & no it didn't!
I just came across this video: can you say how similar the material is for the mcat vs dat?
honestly its not that similar lol. the MCAT and DATs reading sections were very different imo. also the MCAT has physics & biochem on it in their science sections, which the DAT doesn't. Then the DAT has a perceptual abilities section whereas MCAT as a psychology & sociology section
The mcat is the toughest exam on earth! Lol
seriously. material wise & its long which really tests your stamina and focus
