I knew Treecko was something special when I saw his sprite’s battle stance literally T-posing to establish dominance the moment he got out.
I remember seeing the commercial for the games with the people in the photo booth who were dressed up to resemble the Pokémon they were with and seeing that little gecko being held up, I immediately went “I want that dude”
@@MrNylenRules YO SAME!! I already knew
Same, Treecko was my first starter ever back in 2005 Pokemon Emerald
It might not be the most competitively viable but it's definitely the only starter line in which every stage is iconic
Thanks Mystery Dungeon
@stretchpunchbeef8982 God I loved that game
Enter: Greninja
Enter: Infernape
@@TheStormRX look me in the eyes and tell me how Monferno and god damn Frogadier are iconic
@yoannfloquet1645 yea I don't think he understood what you were trying to say lol
Sceptile is one of those Pokemon that got screwed over by the physical/special split. In Gen III, it had wonky, but still usable, coverage in Thunder Punch, Hidden Power Fire, Dragon Claw, and to a lesser extent, Crunch. Nowadays, its special movepool is shallower (consisting of Leaf Storm, Giga Drain/Energy Ball, Focus Blast, Dragon Pulse, Hidden Power, and Tera Blast) than its physical one, which it can't really use effectively due to its lower Attack.
Design wise it looks more like a physical attacker. Shame its stats were made around gen 3 mechanics
Give it quiver dance
It also has Vacuum Wave
Your listed moves don’t make it look like it has less coverage lol.
Gen 3: Grass, electric, dragon, dark, and HP.
Gen 4 onwards: Grass, dragon, HP and TB. Maybe fighting, though Focus Miss is only there half the time. The only thing it’s really missing is electric, and Thunder Punch is so weak I doubt it’s that useful.
Besides, if Sceptile wanted to go physical it had SD, which is a viable set for most generations. But even if Sceptile’s Atk and Spatk were switched, I doubt it would be that great because the issue is that it was very frail. Either it sweeps or it does nothing.
@@3xtblade652 Grass (Leaf Storm/Giga Drain)/Dragon (Dragon Pulse)/Fighting (Focus Blast), not counting Hidden Power or Tera Blast, is still effectively less coverage options overall and that's walled by Mega Altaria, Galarian Weezing, and Fezandipiti, to the point where the right Hidden Power or Tera Blast type is needed to deal with them. Plus, Sceptile rarely uses Dragon Pulse unless it's Mega Evolved.
On the physical side, Leaf Blade, Earthquake, Low Kick/Drain Punch, and Rock Slide provide a broader scope of coverage. Sceptile also has Acrobatics for Unburden sets.
Sceptile is one of the hardest Pokémon ever made. Ash’s and Sawyer’s were unbelievably cool.
First of all ash had it first had it way longer everybody wants to copy ash
nah, Sawyer was cool
@@blacksheep7741ok?
Sawyers was pretty damn great, might just be nostalgia though

My favorite grass type since '03. Sceptile is one of the coolest Pokemon ever designed.

As a Sceptile fan, I wont be satisfied until gamefreak give Sceptile half the love it gives to Incineroar.
He got a Mega and Shed Tail. I'd say he's eating decently well.
@General_C I mean I wouldn't call an ok buff which has been gone for over half a decade, and a move which makes him a decent support but still kept in low tiers eating decently well. Sure he's not starving like some other starters but he's definitely not getting a plate like Incineroar, or Arceus forbid, the Gen 1 trio.
Like at least give it Earth power and more coverage in general like Dark pulse
They should give it some insane hidden ability that makes contact moves deal special damage instead. It could actually use Leaf Blade like the old days, and it could use its much better physical moveset to greater effect while not completely losing its identity as a special attacking grass starter
@@General_C i want quiver dance & fiery dance
Man Sceptile was my first starter
I keep my OG Sceptile on Alpha Sapphire and brought his son to the next generations
Is called Sceptile JR
Same
Same! Mine's called Treetail. I was not good at naming things when I was 9 XD
@@maromania7it's a great name man, wish I had thought of it
Sceptile wasn't my first starter (Charizard was), but it is my favorite. Because I was big on original OTs when I was a kid though, rather than transferring it up normally I instead bred him once he was transferred and raised his kid, then repeated the process every generation, eventually transitioning to breeding them and sending the kid forward instead so the Sceptiles could stay with their OTs. And in Omega Ruby I lucked out and got a female Sceptile as my starter, so I bred her with the Gen 6 Sceptile and merged the two bloodlines. Even though my original Treeraptor has been lost to time alongside my Ruby and Pearl versions, his legacy lives on in a so far unbroken line of succession with his great-great-great-etc-grandson now part of my Paldea team.
Reading Alpha Sapphire instead of Sapphire had me do a doubletake before realizing ORAS came out a decade ago. Still remember paying Emerald with my friends back in elementary school. Man how the time flies
Sceptile has one of the coolest Megas to me. It becomes more ferocious looking with the added red and giant tree tail and gets that added Dragon typing as a bonus. It sure helps that it had a memorable role in one of the best final battles in the anime
Christmas Tree
Hey Sceptile, we finally gave you Dragon typing to buff you!
Also, we added Fairy in the same Gen 😢
i know the funniest thing is when we get to incineroar we have the singles section being the preview showing to the 5 hours of competiive coverage of him
Gen 3 had the perfect starter trio, fight me
No, because i agree
In which context, competitive wise or design wise ?
@@Avinash1974 Yes
@@Avinash1974 unironically maybe both, but I'm sure he meant design wise.

THE OG REMAKES are great, it shows how much you have grown as a content creator. Keep up the amazing work ❤
Loved editing this one 🦎🍃
You did a great job!
You did great!
You did!
there's something always so special about mons who excel in the lower tiers no matter where the power creep ends up
Sceptile was lucky to get a mega evolution. You could say he *shed it's tail* to shine again
bruh
that was good
Badum tis
I am only today learning that sceptile could learn shed tail
Get out 🫲
It says a lot about Gen 6 NU’s balance and Sceptile’s metagame influence that it was the *only* Pokémon that finished the generation in NUBL, the first and so far only time a lower tier has finished its current generation lifespan with only one Pokémon being banned. I wasn’t around during Gen 6’s competitive lifespan (I only started looking into competitive in Gen 7), but I have to wonder if it was a true “Brawl Meta Knight situation” similar to what you might expect from something like GSC Snorlax. Either way, Gen 6 NU looks surprisingly fun and balanced nowadays.
We makin it out of Hoenn with this one 🗣️🔥💯
Sceptile my beloved, one day you'll be the king in OU
My favorite starter of all time. I am glad he is getting his well deserved remake.
This remake is awesome. Non of that "Oh well at least his good in Pokken Tournament DX" a proper analysis this time. Thank you.
Let's not forget the niche that Sceptile has in Gen 9 UBERS. It's one of the smallest of niches, but let's not underestimate the great support of Shed Tail.
SHED TAIL?????
@@mrtrollnator123 Yep, it got that as a remember move
@@genarftheunfuni5227 that's crazy ngl
Cyclizar is the go to mon for shed tail passing though (which the main receiver after dlcs is Terapagos since Tera Shell will make any attack into the sub be not very effective and potentially not break as it sets up), it has better speed and Regenerator so gets more chances to pull the strat off
@@itztaytay2 That's why I said Sceptile's is between the smallest of niches for Ubers.
Unlike Cyclizar, it can withstand some Dragon attacks without resorting to a Tera, and has an immunity to Spore moves and Leech Seed, giving it a small bit of entries that Cyclizar can't cover.
Still, like I said, Ubers Sceptile is a niche, but has a place there.
I'm glad we get these little nuggets of PMD love whenever a Pokemon is introduced
Always loved Sceptile's design so much
Unfortunately it’s stats suck.
My childhood starter getting a remake analysis makes me happy. It being able to use terrain seeds to outstanding effect like Hawlucha means that it's still great even after losing out on its Mega.
Sceptile the GOAT!!! Thank you for this remake, False Swipe Gaming! It was a lovely summary of Sceptile's success over the years
Thank you for that phenomenal intro. You did my boi justice. 💚
Devyn’s team at 19:05 used Mega Sceptile with Worry Seed and a fast Primal Kyogre so that when Primal Groudon switched in, you could turn off the sun with Worry Seed and Water Spout.
bro this was so exciting to see, I never expected sceptile to be a "how great was" pokemon on the channel. def looking forward to blaziken and swampert, I think they're going to be even better.
Blaziken is the best starter in this entire game in singles. He is gonna have a 2 hour video lol.
Sceptile is my goat, i dont care if hes the least viable of the hoenn starters, im picking it almost every time (I love all of the gen 3 starters, Sceptile is just my favorite) and he is going to be named Jeffery every time after my Sceptile from playing Omega Ruby when it first came out.
The remake we needed but didn't deserve

Great to see! My favourite mon.
Always happy when there is a new false swipe gaming video.
Love this smug looking tree boi.
Ready to see if hes gotten better since the last video.
Sceptile should have been a mix attacker.
Sceptile can be viable as a pure special attacker if only his special move pool isn't as shallow as a puddle
honestly its hard not to love all 3 of the Hoenn starters, but Treecko's line will forever have a piece of my heart. All 3 evolutions just look incredible and Grovyle in PMD hit me so hard growing up :')
Im glad that sceptile got some justice. As cool as blaziken and swampert are, i just can't imagine myself picking any other hoenn starter that wasn't sceptile
I've recently had some pretty good fun with unburden/swords dance/upper hand in gen 9, I really love that move
Ayyyyyy, the remaster. Surprised it's got the elusive GREAT rating by False Swipe considering their last showing.
MandJTV gonna be happy seeing this
The goat got another video, thank you
Nice. Another Sceppy vid.
Love the remakes! Maybe Blaziken and Swampert for the next two weeks? 👀👀
Can't wait for MandJTV to watch the remaster.

Favorite Pokemon and first level 100 I ever had.
I wish they would one day switch its attack and special attack stats.

Here’s the updated video for your Lizard Boi!
My favorite Starter of all time, Sceptile!
Minor mistake on the time stamps, Gen 9 is abbreviated as SM not SV
What
@@Victini0510 on the timestamp, you can see gen 9 is named SM (sun & moon) when it should've been SV (scarlet & violet)
Great to see him remaking a well loved starter
5:00 did that snover just take out a sceptile?? 😂
Oh man ,my favorite pokemon, it's really great to see the difference from the og video where then if a mon wasn't good in ou it was bad.
Now if had to buff sceptule i had 2 simple ideas:
1. Switch its atk and spc atk and replace unburden with sharpness.
2. Give it earth power and solar power.
Ayyy a remake video, very nice
Treeko was my first Pokémon, and Ruby was my first Pokémon handheld game. So yeah, Sceptile is one of my favorite Pokémon of all time. It would be so cool in Smash Bros.
Gen 3 starter remakes before Gen 1. What a twist
You’re killing it Sceptile my beloved. Also how good is Polteageist when?
i can't believe there hasn't been a video on cresselia 😭😭
Sceptile, my first lvl 100 and pokemon to teach me coverage moves such as dragon claw and brick break. Taught me swords dance and stat change later. Became my favorite pokemon even though I love water type starter. Also this is the best competitive starter trio imo.
My favorite Pokémon hands down
We need a Gengar remake. "How GREAT was Gengar actually?"
Retirement Era since Gen 7, after it loss the ability to float. Atm, it sits in RU
How good was Swampert ACTUALLY??
*I WILL NEVER GIVE UP.*
Swampert has had a review done before.
@@x7251z so has Sceptile.
As someone who won a tournament a while back with mirror herb sceptile and wide Lens swagger tornadus I appreciate this video
Dang is this the time of remakes? I wasn't expecting this so quickly
Perhaps the next could be why move sets (like mix attacking, fast physical, bulky special, etc) are close to everything or the Dragonite therom
Although Sceptile is one of my absolute favorite pokemon of all time, I'm still a bit salty by its offensive stats. More specifically, I wish its attack and Special attacking stats were swapped so Sceptile can shred through teams with a stab leaf blade coming off its attack stat of 105 rather than 85
This is one of my All time favorite mons
You should make a video about Druddigon, I see it all the time when you talk about RU
Fun fact: sceptile is ubers by technicality in gen 9. With the release of the indigo disk came all the starters returning including sceptile and movesets were updated. This included sceptile naturally learning shed tail a move that was banned from ou and below for allowing easy set up even with orthworm after cyclizar getting banned for the move, speed, and regenerator and after that smogon gave up and banned the move. This means that your sceptile can technically be on par with box arts.
That doesn't make it ubers by technicality, if it only had 1 ability and that ability was banned then it would be (like Cacturne in gen 3). It just has a move that it can't use in the main tiers. Since sleep moves are all banned now too are you going argue that anything with Hypnosis is technically uber?
my fav starter & 2nd favorite mon of all time 🤜🏽🤛🏽
Sceptile has such a cool ability that you can in mix and mega just put his mega stone on inteleon or pelliper and you got a good regeleki counter. Too bad only few people play gen 9 m and m on showdown
I started with gen 3 & this is still my favorite mon
MandJTV favorite Pokémon! 🍃
I glad to see my fav Pokemon being great on competitive
Sceptile is without a doubt the coolest grass starter ever. Really wish that as a compromise for losing its mega, it gained dragon stab. Shed tail would definitely give it a niche in higher tiers if it was allowed. Its ability to shed tail to overgrowth leaf storm range gives it a unique niche. Hope one day it gains nasty plot, calm mind and air slash. It’s modest attacking stats without a boost is what holds it back.
This is VERY niche but it's a boost nonetheless, but using throatspray + grasswhistle in natdex is quite fun
Nah Rillaboom is way better, way too cool looking compared to this Goofy Lizard.
MandJtv: WOOOOO YEAHH BABY THATS WHAT IVE BEEN WATING FOR
Sceptile was dope. My fav starter from gen 3. (I do love them all though) When I first got Leaf Blade I was like “where had this move been for grass types this whole time.”
Thanks for the video. Could you please remake how good was Togekiss actually?
Sceptile was truly shafted by the gen 4 PSS.
The swampert remake boutta be some heat fr fr 🔥🔥💯
This little dude has been running rampant in nay dex for quite some time
My favorite Grass Starter/personal favorite Mon 💚
At this point they're never going to switch its atk with spatk, fingers crossed we get a regional form grass/dragon with higher attack
Gen 3 starter remakes?! HELL YEAH
I'm surprised the gen 9 moveset addition of Shed Tail wasn't mentioned at the end, considering how much Sceptile loved setting up substitutes in generations past.
My favorite Pokemon.
Just a cool Pokemon
Mandjtv’s reaction to the og version of this video helped me find this channel!
These videos don’t talk about Smogon Doubles (which is fair, its a super niche meta) so I just want to talk about how Sceptile is shockingly amazing there. In a meta where Gengar and (formerly legal) Latias rule, a fast crunch is invaluable. In general, the fast pace of doubles and esp Gen 3 doubles really lets Sceptile’s ok power and amazing speed shine, cleaning teams up after explosions or whatever. It’s also much easier to provide Sunny Day support in doubles and a lot of pokemon that can handle Leaf Blade can’t quite do the same for Solar Beam or boosted HP Fire.
New sceptile video lets goooooo
Still to this day one of my favorite Pokémon 💚
Torchic will always be my number one starter on the region but when I did a replay of the game this this was the first time I picked the grass starter off the first three gen. Gen 1 it was charmander then squirtle. Gen two was cyndaquil then totadile. Gen three was torchic then treecko. Ahhhhh ruby version the memories.
Love Sceptile! My second fav pokemon of all time fs. Just wish they would buff his base attack stat lol
If Ash ever returns in the anime way later on in Generation 10 & beyond, I hope his Sceptile has mega evolution to help defend the title as the world's strongest trainer.
My favorite grass type Starter besides Decidueye
Dragalge, magcargo, drifblim or rotom and all of his forms! 💪💪💪
Yippee sceptile remake😊 now please make a swampert remake my fav mon
Sceptile update lets gooooo
There's something so heartwarming about early generation pokemon who just fit into a quiet but outstanding careers. Sceptile seemed to become a swiss army knife, which is exactly what I'd want from a dragon leaf lizard
False Swipe needs to review Cresselia. It's the only gen 4 legendary that has never had a review done.
If it weren't for Greninja's existence, Sceptile would have been my number one most favorite Pokémon.
I’ve always loved sceptile 💯💯
Fun fact: Sceptile got the broken move shed tail in gen 9 too, tho sadly the move is banned from smogon singles
