My husband was living on Jackson Square when Katrina hit. We actually met not long after, and married in 2008. Since TREME's release.. we have watched it many times on DVD; one thing we agree on: Goodman's character, Creighton was in fact, the most fragile one of all. Didn't look that way - viewers tend to be distracted by Bernette's sheer physical size. But he was in fact... so broken by the indifference of people toward NOLA, just at that most tragically surreal interval of time. And he could not bear to see it. A touching, humorous, powerful performance. Hubby and I are both longtime Goodman fans but this gets huge huzzahs from us...
I’m here because I need to watch this again. I discovered it on DVD at the library.
He says it all, man...in those few sentences.
I don't know if John Goodman ever got an academy award, but he sure deserves one.
How have I not seemed this ? It's beyond me
