I think the best type of release is really determined by your fingers and what you're comfortable with. You can get a rough idea by finding the middle of your forearm width-wise and extending a line parallel to the arm's midline. Depending on where it intersects with your fingers, it will determine an optimal release for you. If it land between two fingers, use a two-finger release.
