Mosquitos LOVE me. I am so ready to try your formula.😀
I just received my cinnamon oil so will be trying that. I used to make cinnamon toothpicks as a kid!
Cheers
OH, wow, you said "cinnamon toothpicks" and memories flooded back. We would make them at home and sell them to our friends at school. :-)
@@jeanene72 Right? Totally forgot about those 😂
Using essential oils has its risks due to the concentration and isolation of voc's. Anyone with a concern should consider using fresh plant matter like fresh peppermint and let it sit to extract.
I second that! Using essential oils undiluted is too strong for many people, and definitely too strong for children. I would be interested in something that would be milder, for kids. I can go out and the bugs don't bother me, but my 3 yr old grandchild can't even walk out onto the porch without getting bitten several times. Even with 2 mosquito bracelets (one on are and one on leg) AND being sprayed with OFF Family Care . She doesn't get bit at home because they have their yard sprayed, but I don't want to do that, as I think it might kill of the pollinators for the garden. I live in the city, and am one of the few people in my neighborhood that raises a garden, so I want to protect the pollinator population.
You use vinegar. My grandkids like pickles...but not mint. So I am wondering whether something with pickle juice would work, along with some lemon...??? What else might work with that for delicate skin?
I use mugwort and feverfew
@@jeanene72 I've heard great things about lemongrass specifically but also lemon balm. Maybe that with AC vinegar.
which extract to use?
lemongrass oil and lemongrass leaves also repel mosquitos. You could boil lemongrass in water and use that in place of lemon peel
Do you prefer formula that uses vodka and cinnamon oil or this one with lemon, apple cider vinegar and peppermint oil? Thanks
Just a quick Thank YOU!
I appreciate your channel.
You seem to be a genuinely concerned great person. The world could use more folks with your demeanor. Best to You and Your Family 🙏
Use Everclear (ethyl alcohol). It is is loxic than rubbing or isopropyl alcohol.
Peppermint- cooling, lemon oil - cooling as well, alcohol is a deeply cooling substance, and so this spray is cooling one on top of its intended purpose. Well done!
Thanks so much and have a great day!!!!
I read/write/speak/teach Korean, I noticed that the stove warns "excessive use of hot plate prohibited", so I'm guessing that it's a great cooker, but might not want to use it for hours at a time. Sorry, but when I saw the Hangul, I couldn't help myself!
Fascinating….my wife who is Japanese always talk about how Koreans and Japanese look so much alike. Must have a common ancestor. Cheers.
I heard that Braggs ACV was purchased by Katie Perry & hubby and they are using Gates Appel on the apples? Just worth looking into?
I heard they said they weren't going to use it. but I'd be interested to know for sure!
They make vinegar, not apples. I figure they buy their apples from whoever is selling cheap. You don't need perfect apples to make vinegar.
@jeanene72 So apple cider vinegar is not made from Apples?😊
@@joshgordon2484 i presume you dont know Apeal. Gates uses it to prolong freshness of fruit. 🤣
Omg!!! We can't catch a break!!!
My go to's are mosquitoes which I watched your recent one and what people call water bugs down here. I grew up in NY and they look like big roaches with wings to me. I bought this house 4 years ago and no matter what I spray they back off for a few months and then I see a few coming back. I even have a professional insect company out 4 times a year.
There’s a careful balance between safe level of pesticide and efficacy. A pesticide that lasted for in year indoors would be highly toxic. A safe pesticide looses its effectiveness in about 90 days. Cheers
I cannot use the lemon zest. I could use the lemon juice. I dont know about peppermint oil. Cinnamon is also a problem for me. But I could put it on my clothes, perhaps the ends of my hair. Its is the oxalates in them & oxalate crystals & oxalate crystals are sharp & will penetrate the skin (and your gut).
I know you can make mosquito repellent with beauty berry. I watched your one with aloe. Can you combine the two?
Do you have a receipt for small black flies, no-see-ems? When they bite, they squirt in a analgesic/anticoagulant so I never feel them when the drink the blood, but I get quite the reaction to those bites. Thanks in advance if you can help!
I see that the cinnamon recipe would probably work for those black biting flies... Gnats??!! 😊
I think the cinnamon would work. Also have a new video with peppermint. Cheers
oh boi....my heart goes out to you. I also get a blistering affect from those no-see-ems! I only heard of them since living on Vancouver Island. Mosquito bites also make me cwazy. Something that works miraculously for me, next to allergy tabs or Claritin, is my DIY oil that works like magic.
A simple oil with Plantain, and years back I made one with Calendula. omg-oodness, a life-saver that I always have on hand!
The best to you! 🥰
@@LindasDesk hey, thanks for the info, so appreciate it!
Have to try it
Lemon oil can be photo sensitive, so be careful with sun exposure if using.
In the 80s Lemon juice was used to put highlights in hair.
@ZenGardenOasis. oh yeah... I did that alot in the 80's
@@ZenGardenOasis.. Guilty 😂
Thanks. I,will give this a try
This sounds great! Thank you for the recipe!
My pleasure 😊
Here in Bangkok we use lemongrass spray ~80thb = $2.3 US 😗
I have heard that vanilla is also effective as a mosquito and fly repellent. I do my own yard work, and in addition to lots of mosquitoes, we get those biting deer flies that are very aggressive. Currently, I'm buying a natural repellent that is made with lemon eucalyptus essential oil and several other EOs. But I love the smell of vanilla, and if that would work as a repellent, I'd prefer to have one that smells like that instead of the strong lemon! But I'm not willing to be a test subject in our bug-friendly Florida climate to find out.
I just used any essential oil and rubbing alcohol and it really works and I spray it around me right out the bottle
Sounds great….lot less toxic than off. Cheers
Is orange oil a viable alternative to lemon oil?
Instead of using the peel of a lemon, can you use 100 percent lemon oil? (how many drops) Also would love a link to your filters. Birds (blueJays) love my peaches.
?? Have no idea if my subscriptions are public or private.
Could you include the recipes in written form somewhere? Maybe in the description, transcript or a pinned comment? Thank you.
I’m not allergic to oils but the cinnamon made my skin burn and I did get a rash.
Always do the test area.
@@ZenGardenOasis. I sprayed my clothes and that worked
I am a fairly new subscriber. If you haven't done one yet... How about Tick repellant.
What do you have for horse flys on the horses
Any tips on getting rid of house lizards or gecko
Would you have a repellant that is great for most biting and stinging insects or is there such a thing ?? Thanks
Personal insect repellent is best. Check my vids I have one.
@@ZenGardenOasis. Thank you Sir. My bad for sure.
I am sorry, it might work for some, but not for me. I have tried it before. Picaridin is my choice. Gnats are ferocious critters.😊
Can you grate the lemon peel?
Good, Thx
Wouldn't a regular perfume work? Im sure the mosquitos will hate the nice smelling perfume.
use skin so soft instead of alcohol
Is there something that I can spray in my garage that is not toxic to my lab, because that’s where his kennel is in the garage. I need this to chase away black snakes that likes to hide up where the insulation is? Also, will it keep them from entering the garage. There are no holes they have to be coming under the garage door. Thank you from Ohio! 😊
You haven't been in mosquito area evidently
No sounds, candles coils, magnets or insecticides stop them. Im surrounded by rice fields and irrigation ditches.. topped with small ponds and vegetation..
You stay inside at specific hours..
Can you spray the lemon spray on clothing?
How about bedbug repellant?
I could never cram all the redhots I wanted into my mouth without getting in trouble. Moms are such prudes.
You and me both. 😂
People with O- blood type are a mosquito favorite!
I didn’t know that. That explains why they swarm me when I go outside in the garden.
I'm type O, mosquitos dont bother with me.
I am AB+. They have always loved me and I am allergic to their bites!
Ty...I'm curious if you or anyone out here has used a DIY ACV rather than store-bought Apple Cider Vinegar?
Interesting question…very never made it myself. But wow that would be fascinating to try. Cheers
@@ZenGardenOasis. I appreciate your response. Ty...I know diy acv is not as acidic as the purchased, but feel it's worth the risk to play with this. 🥰 Thanks some more!
@@LindasDesk There's lots of good recipies for home made ACV on YT, the simplest just involve fruit pulp/expired juice and a little of the 'mother' sediment from purchased ACV.
Pregnant women must avoid pepermint oil or tea.
Be careful in the sun when using any citrus oil on the skin.
Lemon zest
Do you live in FL? I do and with the videos on mosquitoes, lemon trees and pineapples, I thought maybe you live here, too.
I wish 😄
I would appreciate it if you were more concise. Stop repeating yourself please. "As I said earlier", or "like I said earlier" are useless things to say. We heard you say it, there is no need to say you are saying it again because we heard it the first time.
You would come off a lot more professional if you didn't use the word ANYWAYS.. It is Street Punk talk. The word is anyway.
How do you know I’m not a street punk? 😂
@@ZenGardenOasis.. Anyways I found it helpful
I just eat lots of hot peppers! With enough in your system daily the Capsaicin from them will weep out of your pores and the bugs won't even come near you! Ask me how I know! Thai peppers and better are the best. I like Ghost peppers, Trinidad Scorpion and Carolina Reapers. They also make meals fun again! LOL
